What a lovely room with a massive bed which was so comfy. This was our first hotel when we arrived in the US and it was perfect to acclimatise to a new time zone with black-out blinds and super soft bedding. Staff were very welcoming, we didn't drink in the bar but the decor of the whole place was very trendy. Loved the water fountain on the main floor of our room so we could top up our bottles and I was obsessed with the white noise speaker built into the bed side table, if this isn't for you there is a dial to turn it up, down or off completely. Location was great for all public transport including the cable car and BART. Please ignore all our belongings and stuff in the photos, I forgot to take pictures before we got comfortable.

This hotel has a very cool vibe. It is extremely clean and the decor is well appointed. Bed linens, pillows, mattress and towels were all top quality and very comfortable. Housekeeping was great and very friendly staff all around. I would highly recommend a stay at Hotel Emblem. The location is central for convenient access to all areas of interest. We felt safe walking in the area.

This hotel is exactly what I was looking for to stay in San Francisco - a lovely boutique hotel with every little detail well thought out. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the bathroom was modern and clean. As a solo traveller I felt very safe here too which was fundamental to an enjoyable trip. The extra touches were so lovely - the welcome drink on arrival, the free water fountain and ice at the end of the corridor to help ourselves to. The location is perfect - up the street from BART if you arrive to the city by train from the airport, and also close to the start of the tram line and Union Square. I couldn’t recommend it enough, it’s such a great base for exploring the city!

We loved the manor of the staff, always pleasant and helpful. We were welcomed as all guests should be, and made to feel right at home. The room was spot on with everything we needed. The bed was really comfy and the shower had a decent amount of pressure - this was good as we had read up that San Fran suffers from low pressure - so we were relieved to find this wasn't too much of an issue here. The bar area looked really good, but with this being our first part of our visit from the UK - we were in bed fairly early considering the 8 hour time difference - but we did make use of the little cafe in the mornings that is attached the the hotel.

I wish we could have stayed longer! Getting to the hotel we found was at the top of a lengthy hill - no matter which way we seemed to come at it - but we were staying in San Fran - a bit like going to Scotland and being upset by people wearing kilts - that would be our only warning to people - but just embrace it, take your time and enjoy being in San Fran! The hotel had nothing wrong with it - the water and ice machines outside the rooms were a god send!

Great location, just a block from Union Square so perfect for the trams and shopping. Staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and went the extra mile to make sure my husband and daughter enjoyed their birthdays. Family room was great, rear facing so lovely and quiet, just check you have enough towels and pillows as we only had 1 each and my girls always sleep with 2. Staff quickly supplied more upon request. Supplied toiletries were good, had I known I wouldn’t have taken our own. Wine in the room was decent too. Would definitely stay again!

That room had only 2 bath towels and 4 pillows in a family room. Staff rectified this immediately upon request

I am absolutely OBSESSED with this property and this is now going to be my go to hotel for San Francisco. Staff was so kind, helpful and accommodating. They literally bend over backwards for their guests. From having a typewriter delivered to your room so you can write a letter to a friend for them to mail off for you, to being brought a book cart to your room for you to check out and if you like the book, you can buy it for 10$ or maybe even just give it to you for free! They will literally bring you anything to your room if they have it. You can even borrow a bike and helmet! This hotel is so incredibly unique! Each room is just amazing with different details and cute additions, while also following their book theme throughout. I would know because I slept in two different types of rooms; both were different and a delight.

Location was great - very close to Union Square and downtown. Front desk staff were excellent and very responsive. We had an issue with the first room we were allocated. Room was changed immediately. I particularly want to mention Orion on Front Desk and the night staff Panda and Mark who were excellent. The other front desk staff (sorry I don't have names) were also very attentive. They went to great lengths to try and locate a pair of eye glasses that my wife thought she had mislaid in the bedroom.

The fact that the bar closed at 10pm was disappointing.

The hotel was wonderful. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was large and wonderfully quirky as I had hoped. Books in the room, quotes and art on the walls and ceiling, soft lighting, comfortable beds, great coffee and sangria upon arrival!. There are lots of unique items that you can borrow, tarot cards, yoga mats, ceiling lighting. dishes.....The location was better than I had expected, we enjoyed walking the neighborhood and found lots of great dining options within minutes of the hotel. We walked down Sutter street around 11pm and found it well lit, clean and felt safe. Seriously, stop looking online, stay here, book the room.

The location was perfect and close to everything. They offered valet so we were able to keep our vehicle safe and use Uber to get around. Made everything so much easier since parking is pricey in San Fran. The hotel was probably the most unique I have ever stayed in. The customer service was exceptional and the amenities were by far best we have ever been offered. My daughter was able to play with a typewriter and we requested the star light that lit up the whole room. They offer bath bombs and have a book butler or you can just check out one of their record players and relax the night away. We definitely will stay here again in the future.

There’s nothing to complain about our stay was perfect!

The hotel was very old but quaint and in great condition, totally renovated. The rooms were very comfortable, and the location was awesome. Great restaurants close by! The staff we're amazing and definitely went out of their way to help and inform us of the most interesting attractions in San Francisco. We had a fabulous time in San Francisco and especially lucked into our stay at The Emblem Hotel. We definitely would stay at The Emblem on future trips to San Francisco!

Elevator is small but still could hold two people and their luggage!
