The staff were very helpful, accommodating and friendly. No request went unanswered, and promptly at that. The room was comfortable and roomy. The location is quite convenient, close enough to our conference center but also close to Chinatown and other points of interest nearby. Also a 10-min walk to the BART, which can optionally be covered with the cable car. All in all a lovely stay.

The room was a bit dark for my taste, even with all the lights on. Also, this is a truly minor thing, but the light switches in the room were a bit funny - there were 2 switches, one at the entrance and one next to the bed, but the way it worked was that if either was in the on position, the lights remained on even if the other switch was flipped. This would require one to go back and forth between the switches to leave the room dark / turn off the lights before bed. Pretty sure that's not how it's supposed to work :-).

This is an older hotel but very well maintained. Nice sitting area in the lobby and very conveniently located to Union Square - about a five block walk partly uphill from the Montgomery station on BART. Street car runs right up Powell at the corner of Bush and Powell 50 meters from the hotel entrance. Room was spacious and comfortable. I didn't take the breakfast since there are so many good options within a couple of blocks with probably better coffee.

Wifi was a bit intermittent - sometimes worked fine, sometimes would log me out after an hour or two and hard to get back in. I ended up using my T-Mobile hotspot when it didn't work (but to be fair, it did work most of the time). There is another hotel on Bush, about 445, called the Orchard Garden - don't make the mistake I made and go there first. It turned out there was a guest there with the same last name as me and we got a fair bit into the checkin process (including running my credit card for a deposit!) before we realized this guest was not me.

The location is awesome. The Powell + Bush cable car is right at the corner, which is great way to get to both Fisherman's Wharf and to the Financial District (by transferring at Powell + California). It is also walking distance to Chinatown and Union Square. The staff of the hotel were all terrific. Very pleasant and attentive. And our room (a suite) was both beautiful and comfortable.

The only drawback is that our room was located by the elevator, so we did hear the sound of the elevator moving (but not the sound of people). It would only be an issue if you want silence at night. Even the street noise outside (the clanging of the cable cars, for example) was not that bad.

Me and my best friend stayed in this lovely hotel for a 3 day trip to the city. It was Very close proximity to everything in the city which made for a smooth and easy holiday. The receptionists in the lobby were there 24/7 which was great as we had a very early flight so were able to check out early on. The room itself was crystal clean and very spacious. The view from the window was beautiful and we felt as though it was a 5 star hotel. Everything about it was just lovely, couldn’t recommend more and would definitely return if coming back to the city.

There were no downfalls our stay was tremendous. The hotel did charge a hold fee of $50 USD per night however it was returned upon checkout very quickly.

We stayed at Hotel Orchard for three nights with our family, booking two rooms, and absolutely loved our stay. The location is fantastic – just a short walk to Union Square, with plenty of cafes, restaurants, and shops nearby. The convenience of having a cable car stop just around the corner added to the charm of exploring the city. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and offered excellent value for the price. While we didn’t have meals at the hotel and can’t comment on the dining experience, everything else about our stay exceeded expectations. We highly recommend Hotel Orchard for anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient, and budget-friendly option in San Francisco. We’ll definitely consider staying here again on our next visit!

The location on Bush St is right in the city centre, which suited us perfectly. There are cafes and dine in options very close by, like next door or across the road, and bus and trolley bus / tram routes within a couple of minutes walk. The room itself is spacious and the bathroom is also large with ample bench space. The decor is a little dated, but the whole effect is very stylish and classy, and our room on the 6th floor was very quiet. The bed was super comfortable, the filtered water machine on several floors was a nice touch, and the staff were great - very friendly and helpful. I had a few parcels delivered at the hotel before my stay, which were all sitting in our room on arrival - I found this super useful - thanks guys!

The location in SF is great. Having a streetcar and bus stop so close by was so convenient. The staff were very helpful, and I liked the text correspondence. The room bed was comfortable, and the room was a good size. I also like the water stations.

The water stations were not prominent, so I had some issues finding the one on 6. It would be helpful if there was information about grabbing the streetcar right outside of the Powell street station to get to bush street. We were really tired and hot when we arrived. The walk up the hill was tough in that state. Once we figured it out, it was super useful.

Standouts were the staff and location. Location was within walking distance of everything we were interested in in San Francisco; Union Square, Ferry Building, cable car, China Town, and the financial district. Staff were always helpful and friendly. They answered every question we asked about San Francisco, most importantly good restaurants nearby for dinner. Two nights we asked for a recommendation, both restaurants recommended were real winners, and they were nearby. Also need to mention the hotel’s dining room where we ate breakfast. By any measure, a beautiful room. I recommend the pancakes.we

The staff were very helpful and friendly and were able to accommodate my requests. The room was very spacious and peaceful away from the elevators. The decor was fairly modern but felt like home which I liked. The pillows were so comfy! I didn't eat at the resturant because I was out every day so can't comment on the food but the menu did look good when I saw it online. I loved that they had filtered water stations on each floor for us to refill water bottles to save on plastic. I absolutely loved that I could control the air conditioner myself without it being capped because I need it very cold. The tea and coffee selection was wonderful - almost as if they knew I drink decaf green tea! I was very pleasantly surprised with this. There was a little noise from neighbouring rooms at night but it was very minimal. It was a very peaceful stay overall. I will definitely be back next time I stay in San Francisco and will recommend this place to my friends.

The only thing that could have made my stay a bit better were just nice to have a and very trivial things. I think American hotels use a lot of starch on their bedsheets so they crunch and crinkle in the night as you move and aren't very soft. But the temperature of the sheets was perfect. Another thing about American hotels in general is that the tubs are very shallow so you have to keep topping up the tub which isnt a complaint about the orchard but just something to be mindful of if you're on the larger or taller side and are used to UK sizes bath tubs.

Excellent location with cable car stop right on the corner of the street. Staff very friendly, courteous and professional. Lovely touch of coffee being in the room and the water refill in the lobby was amazing. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend The Orchard

The only very minor point is that the room was quite dark. There was not much light from the window but that may be where our room was located so needed to turn all the lights on.
