Wonderful stay! The property is modern, spotless, and well-maintained. While the rooms are compact (as expected), they’re perfectly suited for a couple. The bed was very comfortable, and the on-site bar was a fantastic bonus. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming.

Nothing to fault with the property itself — it was great. It would’ve been helpful to have an iron available, though. This was my first time in San Francisco, and unfortunately, I didn’t love the Union Square area. It’s a shame, as I really enjoyed the hotel, but I wouldn’t choose this location again.

Loved this location! We parked in the garage across the street. Rate was $44 for 24 hours. The hotel doesn’t have parking. There is a different lot they recommend with in and out access. The lot we chose didn’t have that option but it was fine because we walked EVERYWHERE! There are also plenty of transportation options if you don’t want to walk. Cable cars, bart, transit bus, scooter or bike rentals and waymo if you’re brave enough to take a driverless car! This location has so much to see around it that we were never looking for something to do or see and we really didn’t even venture far. Our stay was basically 2 days and I never had a bad experience at all.

The only thing I would say I didn’t like was no dresser in the room. I like to store my dirty clothes I. The drawers to keep my room tidy and pack up everything before I leave.

My wife and I had an excellent stay at this property. All the staff; Domestic, front of house were friendly and helpful. For example I had purchased a book in another city in the USA and had it delivered to this property. They kept an eye out for it and when it arrived I was notified; thank you Pretty. The room was number 308 and it was furthest away from the busy main road which was great. PLUS BUS Pass called MuniMobile There are buses literally outside the property which made moving around so easy. We purchased a 3 day pass which gave us access to buses and the Trolley Car for $31US. Train Pass Buy a Clipper Card on line and this means you can get straight onto the amazing train service upon clearing the usual airport authorities. GET OFF the train at POWELL STREET. You can walk up a short distance to the Hotel or call Ubber or a Taxi if you have suitcases. Its slightly uphill!!

THE only disappointment was the offer of coffee!! When we arrived we saw a Modern Barista Coffee machine complete with a grinder full of coffee beans so we went down full of expectations of a nice coffee BUT NO only filter coffee : ( As a result we did not avail ourselves of this product.

Our experience at Palihotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, Ocean and Donny at the front desk made us feel genuinely welcome—both were incredibly kind and always ready to help with anything we needed. The room itself exceeded our expectations: spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully designed with a beautiful aesthetic. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom felt luxurious, complete with a large, elegant mirror. Although we were told in advance that the elevator might be slow, we didn’t find it to be an issue at all—on the contrary, it made moving our luggage effortless. One of the highlights of our stay was the fantastic restaurant and bar on the second floor. Larry and especially Abraham made us feel like longtime friends, and their warmth added so much to the overall experience. The location couldn’t be better—steps away from great cafes, restaurants, the metro, and the tram. If you’re visiting the city and have the chance to stay at Palihotel, don’t think twice—it’s absolutely worth it.

We liked everything.

The rooms are comfy, I loved the feel of the room when you walk in. The bathroom was nice. Small sink, but the shower made up for it. Restaurant on the second floor has a good atmosphere, good food and excellent service. We had a great stay and staff is very accommodating.

Parking garage was around the corner. No valet option. We paid $50 a day, had to park our own car in a tight parking garage. Carried our own bags in and out of the garage. It wasn’t a problem for us but if you’re older or are accustomed to having valet/concierge services this hotel is more self service when it comes to parking and bags.

The room was spacious, beautiful and comfortable. The decor and furniture had a bit of a vintage vibe to it as well, which really added to the mood of the room when there was sunlight streaming through the large windows. The bed and pillows were big and felt just right, i.e. neither too firm nor soft. Finally, I arrived in San Francisco early in the morning and I was really glad the hotel let me check in early! The location also seemed central enough that it wasn't a problem calling Ubers to visit different parts of the city.

Check your bill when you leave. I didn't and found out later that I was charged extra for the mini bar which didn't touch at all. Thankfully, they reversed the charge without fuss after I asked them about it but I could've done without the hassle. Also, I think I saw another reviewer mention this - but my bath gel bottle was empty also. No biggie as there was a bar of soap provided.

The understated hotel is centrally located, about 2 blocks away from Union Square, and about a 10 minute walk to several different neighborhoods. I live in the North Bay, so my boyfriend and I weren't staying as tourists. Therefore, we had to figure out what to do with the car. Fortunately, the parking arrangement works nicely as well, as the garage is just around the corner and is reasonably priced. But the best part, by far, was the staff. Both Lovely and Rachel made our stay wonderful, no matter what we needed. We had an issue with the initial room we checked into, and they were able to make it right, even though the hotel was so busy. It would have been a MUCH different stay without their help!

This is merely personal preference, but the hotel definitely has a historical, "old-timey" vibe to it, as presented by its Otis hotel (you'll need to be a bit patient with it) and lack of USB charging ports in the room. Very small issues, and I realize many people appreciate the aesthetic offered.

I love the decoration of the room and hotel itself. The location of the hotel was pretty good, it's a shame that the Cafe on the second floor is not completely functional but the space is really comfy and cozy for a morning coffee.

We had some trouble with the key card twice and couldn't enter the room. The system locked us out for some unexplained reason although we booked 5 nights. It was nothing serious that would change our mind of booking this hotel again but it was a bit annoying when it happened the second time. It's not fun when you have to go down to reception at night to fix the card.

Room was spacious, history of the building like the vintage elevator, and retaining these elements of humanity despite the "convenience" rat race. I liked that there were no phones in the rooms, you actually had to go downstairs and interact with another person which was really lovely and charming and helped me be more present. Also incredibly flexible and kind personnel + super accommodating about my early check in and late check out. Super knowledgable staff about things to do/where to go.

Wish the bar was open during my stay, but will have to come back again! I wish there was more access to water/water bottles at no extra cost.

Location; quiet; staff;fridge in room; pillows were better than most hotels - they might have contained feather/down; they have done a very decent job refurbishing this older hotel, especially the lobby; bed frame was practical - it had spaces on both sides for articles, but there were no night tables; you are able to leave luggage after checking out for up to 48 hours - unprecedented!

Internet pictures of room deceptive - it was much smaller than anticipated; barely room for my 1 large suitcase - I doubt a couple could manage 2 large suitcases in this Queen Room; carpet could have been nicer; no suitcase rack.
