1. Great location: Steps from Chinatown, 2-3 city blocks from BART and Union Square. 20-30mins walk to wharf, lombart street, etc but lots of hills. 2. Safe: was worried about personal safety as am solo female traveller but not many homeless in San Francisco. If there is, it's only 1 person on their own, sometimes acting oddly, but you can just walk around and avoid them. I also walked back past 11pm after a concert; streets were empty with the random tourist walking back to their hotel (as its close to Financial District) but fortunately no dangerous homeless. I also went to many places in San Francisco and didn't encounter many homeless, maybe 1 a day? Streets were beautiful, safe and clean. 3. Value: room size was spacious, even for 2 pax. You can probably add a single bed as well. I got the long stay price, which was surprisingly cheaper than 5 nights stay (my original plan). Everything else in San Francisco is expensive though. Food really burnt a hole in your pocket, around $20+ for a main meal (including fast food combos). 4. Cleanliness: Room and toilet was clean, if a little dated with some dents here and there. Sink was oddly placed in the room instead of toilet with short taps (very old-fashioned) so be careful of water splashes. 5. Facilities: In-room facilities were great! Had a mini fridge and heater. No air-conditioning but I was here in spring so it was cool; just open the window if needed. Hotel also provided clean, spacious common area with hot/cold water, coffee, hot chocolate, paper cups and plates. Great place to have take-out. 6. Noise: Sound-proofing of rooms not great. 2 nights into my stay, there was some guest who kept stomping in the room above me. Luckily they slept early so the noise stopped before midnight. My room was also facing the roof of the building next door and there was some kinda machinery that kept rumbling. It only cut off at 10pm. Not great for anyone who needs a nap in the daytime.

Perfect location. Next to the Chinese district and within walking distance of everything, streets around with a few climbs. Possibility to have a coffee or de in the main room. Cleaning staff who spend every day cleaning and completely redoing the rooms. Not very big bed, room equipped with everything we could use.

Auto check in to be reviewed, app for the digital key does not work, to all the guests present in the structure even with different smartphones. the staff tells you that only you don't work. We took the physical key by phone. Our room was not one of the photos, painted but with the years that you can see behind.

Clean, nicely decorated with modern art giving it a nice take on an old classic building. While old it was very clean, paint and other decorating all well maintained. Everything worked well making it an enjoyable stay.

The rooms have wireless locks that while allowing flexibility and convenience for guests and staff, did cause a few challenges as the email with instructions and key code went to my spam for some reason so had to call to get instructions. There are generally no front desk staff on site except for very busy times but we got sorted quickly and got into our room. The key uses an app on your phone that they provide a code for. I did notice that sometimes it takes quite a while to unlock while other times was almost instant. Makes you a little nervous about your phone going flat or getting lost.

One of the most unique places you can stay in this area, very quirky and fun deco and full of things to enjoy and discover while staying there, even the bathroom had funny details and little paintings that will guarantee to make you laugh. Contactless overall staying was interesting and gave my friends staying there a lot of flexibility.

Check-in was contactless which is great, but I booked the room for 2 friends and they had to rely on apps and constant messaging with me to have access to things. Also the second person staying there could not get access to the building by themselves the main person registered in the app needed to be a door-keeper at all times.

Rooms are great, housekeeping is lovely and clean everyday, art in the hotel is great, location perfect, cost - brilliant for SF.

Check-in was an experience, we got the text & downloaded the app, arrived at the hotel, the digital key didn't work. Had it replaced three times over, still didn't work! Was using WhatsApp to contact someone in the hotel who was trying to be as helpful as possible, in the end we were told to get our physical room key from the front desk (it wasn't there) then customer service had to ring the housekeeping to assist us and another guest. In the end we ended up with a different room completely but got there and have had a wonderful stay! Also there's no Aircon - just open the window as the rooms are HOT!

Me and My Son had a Very Good Stay at your Hotel. Our Room was a Good Size with 2 Double Beds in, And our own Private Bathroom, and a Large TV with Plenty of Channels on in Our Room. Location of Hotel is Brilliant aswel. We Walked everywhere All Over every Part of San Francisco, We even Walked to the Golden Gate Bridge 🌉 I Would Definitely Recommend This Hotel To everyone, they have a Bar inside this Hotel and just at the Side of Hotel there’s a Lovely Irish Bar ☘️ And Restaurant that we did use a couple of times. There’s Also Free Tea/ Coffee at Reception area, which I did enjoy… So Thank You Hotel Des Arts. 😊

This place exceeded our expectations! It was spotlessly clean, located in a great area, and offered at a very reasonable price. The only minor issue we encountered was that one of the digital keys stopped working on my phone—but it wasn’t a big deal since we always had access with the second phone. We 100% recommend this place and would definitely stay here again!

The location is super great and it is a great value stay. The room has just what you need and the room and towels and everything was really clean. Check in is easy and we were able to leave our bags in storage after checking out. I definitely would recommend this place. Complimentary tea, coffee and water.

Location near many cool things, colorful rooms, comfy beds, rooms have full bathrooms, cute lobby to hang out, app to unlock door no need for keys (was useful since many of us arrived at different times), literally connected to a bar (couldn’t hear anything from our room)

Friends mentioned their door had some issues, saw a bug once, stairs and elevator are a bit tight in space

We miiight have overused the lobby for our night gatherings, we could have gone up to the rooms tho we had enough space. Its close to the convention center and while not super close still a nice stroll to the bay.

Stairs were a bit too tight, and elevator was small too and required extra steps but no biggie.
