It was a pleasant six-night stay. The hotel kindly offered a complimentary room upgrade with a good view of Bush Street (a photo taken from the room window is attached). The room is clean, spacious, and organized. The location is great: close to Chinatown with varied food options, <10 min walk to the nearest BART station, and ~15 min walk to the bay.

The breakfast was enjoyable, though it felt slightly overpriced. On a few occasions, I returned late (~10 PM) and noticed that no one was at the front desk. I'm not sure if this is typical for hotels in SF, but having staff present at night would provide a greater sense of security. Nevertheless, the Chinatown area itself feels very safe.

So pleased we chose this hotel. Researching SF it seemed all hotels were expensive and poor quality. I chose this one as it was one of the few not to rip you off with an "amenity charge" or Restaurant voucher that makes you eat at the hotel. Lovely room which was spacious for a big city hotel and very clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly (with one exception). Location was good as it was within striking distance of all tourist areas by uber. We walked through China town to Little Italy one evening and felt safe. We found a great Thai restaurant nearby call Hed Verythai which I would recommend if you don't want to go far in search of good food at a sensible price.

There was one lady on reception who didn't bother to even look up when we came into the hotel and we said hello. Everyone else was friendly and helpful.

We chose the Orchard Garden particularly as it is a new-ish hotel (opened 2006) - we were after modern and comfortable, and the Orchard Garden delivered both. We liked the location; it was easy to either walk to or catch public transport to our main destinations. The room was clean and modern, with all amenities as advertised. The bathroom was lovely and spacious with plenty of towels. There were clean glasses and a carafe that we used to fetch water from the brilliant filtered water station (conveniently on our floor; there are 2 in the hotel). We also used this regularly to fill our own water bottles for our outings. The hotel staff were very helpful, for example offered to deliver up to our room an Uber Eats order. The hotel offered holding of luggage on our last day and had bathrooms we could use just before going to the airport.

The only things we did not like are probably typical of either hotels in the US (no electric kettle) or hotels more generally (beds too soft for my liking but I know that is personal preference).

The rooms were very spacious and the beds were really comfortable. We had 2 rooms that were interconnecting which suited our family very well. It was beautifully clean and the hotel was welcoming. We also made good use of the lovely French bakery across the road for breakfasts. It was a very useful, central location and very near to Chinatown.

We would have liked a hotel with a bar in, but that was not on offer here. Our rooms were amazing but we missed having a social space.

I had an excellent stay. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. My room was spacious and very clean. I requested a kettle in advance and this was provided. The water refilling station was a good facility. The location is excellent. It's right beside the Chinatown Dragon Gate and the cable cars are a short walk away. The BART station for the airport is also close by. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The only minor issue was the window was not well soundproofed. This wasn't really a problem except on my last night when there was music from the Irish pub opposite the hotel for St Patrick's Day. It was quite loud even though my room was at the side of the hotel.

The hotel makes you feel like you're transported back in time to 2005, but that's not such a bad thing. The property could use a renovation but it's well-maintained and pretty clean. Some details were outdated (computer system, room key insertion for electricity), but again, it was comfortable. Conveniently located near Chinatown and slightly away from the more sketchy Tenderloin/SoMa areas. The restaurant on site is not operational.

Excellent location for visiting tourist sites. Room was spacious and very clean and staff were helpful. Breakfast was available but rather expensive. We usually had breakfast in nearby 'Working Girls' cafe. Public transport nearby.

Would have preferred stand alone shower rather than one over bath. Was expecting the hotel to provide a map of the City and leaflets about public transport, tourist sites, etc.

Very clean and accessible from Union Square, short walk to the ferry building and market street. Really easy to access from the airport using the Train and then just a short walk. Although Kettles aren't in the room they are able to provide them and we purchased milk and tea (we were there for 6 days). Room was very comfortable.

The decor could be upgraded but thats just a personal aesthetics thing and I would say don't let it put you off if you feel the same. Its not a flashy place but its very comfortable. My travel partner had a fall whilst we were there on the way home one night after dinner on the first night. It was very hard to communicate over the phone with the reception as they couldn't understand me (plus I think the phone might have been old) when I was requesting sticking plasters and ice. They didn't have ice packs as part of first aid but were able to provide ice. It took a few trips down to reception to communicate with one of the other receptionists who spoke English better. This was the only down side for me and the rest of the trip was fine.

Comfortable and safe. They did the basics well. Well located if you want to be near Chinatown and downtown. I needed the coffee maker fixed - they brought a new one once the morning cleaning crew arrived...and gave me fresh coffee while I waited. Overall, solid, but no wow. Likely would return.

Felt a bit out of date, a hotel passed it's prime, afternoon staff helpful but morning staff seem interested in just doing nothing extra beyond a hello.

Super convenient location, comfy, clean, quiet room, safe and welcoming atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again. You can easily access North Beach, public transit, ferries, and much more on foot, without the crowds of Union Square. Lots of food options nearby too.

My only minor complaint is that the bathroom had no vent / fan.
