I was pleasantly surprised. Initially, I thought I made a mistake, but after my first night I appreciated the location, quietness, clean room and clean restrooms. There is a sink in each room which is nice to have so I can easily brush my teeth and wash my face without having to walk down the hallway. Others staying kept to themselves and didn't make a bunch of noise, the beds are simple, and mattresses are wrapped for protection, I was worried about bed bugs and did a quick inspection. It's run by what seems to be a group of Asian women which I also appreciated and there is someone sitting at the front desk checking to see who is coming and going. Ultimately, I felt safe as a solo female traveler and would stay again as it was extremely affordable for such a great location. P.S. if you are riding BART to get here, get off at Montogomery not Union Sqaure. Less of a hill to climb and not many homeless.

the staff was very helpful, nice and cooperative. for my basic needs it was a very fine choice and i am happy i booked it! the location is perfect for every touri program, nearby restaurants and coffeeshops. the area is safe and interessting. to some points which worried me because i read some reviews before checkin: 1. i got my deposit back at check out - payed in cash 2. i never had to wait for the door to be opened longer then one minute tops 3. yes the room was cold, i asked the front desk what we could do and they gave me a portable heater, which worked absolutely fine 4. the room was noise sensitive, but as i had a room facing the inner yard i had no specific view but it was calm, no noise from the street.

the room is very small, which itself didn‘t bother me, but the air is turning bad quickly and there was not possability to open the window - so i had to leave the door open to the hallway for getting some fresh air inside. the carpet has had seen certainly better times already. the noiselevel depends mainly on neighbours - if they are considered its fine, but walls are thin. one time the vent in the shower was on the whole night, this was really loud, although my room was around the corner - earpluggs helped.

It was at a very convenient location, being right next to chinatown. It was also in walkable distance to the pier. The staff were friendly and they allowed us to store our luggage on the day of our check out before our flight. The room was pretty clean and there was a sink in the room.

Our room was pretty small, there was just enough space for a double bed, a small wardrobe, small table and a sink behind the door. Opening the door also blocked the space in front of the sink. It was inconvenient when one of us had to use the bathroom and the other brush teeth, as the opening of the door got in the way of the sink user. There weren't many shared bathrooms available, but they were nearly always free, so that was quite ok. During check in we came with a car, but we couldn't find a good parking spot next to the hotel. We used roadside parking but wasn't too sure of the signs and whether we were allowed to park there.

Great location, within walking distance to many places. The room has everything you need: a sink that’s convenient for washing hands, a medium fridge, table, wardrobe, and towels. Toilet and shower are shared on the floor, but it’s never a problem—never had to wait. Excellent price too

When I checked in, they calculated my payment using a calculator. Communication over the phone was a bit difficult, as their English is not very strong

The location is excellent, you have all the public transportation options one or two blocks from the hotel, it's central so obviously you're going to hear the typical traffic noise of a city, it's logical because of the location which I insist is excellent. Plus you don't see as many crazy people wandering around as you do in neighborhoods closer to the Tenderloin. It really has a very safe location. The property has many bathrooms and they are super clean. The hotel workers are very friendly.

and the WC/Showers were always clean! Bravo continue so! It is the first time we could enjoy a place with shared bathrooms, since there were a plenty of them free all the time! Very good location in front of the entrance to China Town. We could store our luggage at the reception after check-out.

If there is one thing disturbed us at this nice place, was the size of the room but yeah you get what you pay for. The bed ladder was extremely narrow that it pained to climb it up and down.

Loved the staff, vibe and the tea! Bathrooms, showers and kitchen were clean, the room had everything you need (except USB charging port).Great value, good location. Will definitely come back and have already recommended to others.

Minor things- No USB charging ports in the room to charge phone overnight. $100usd deposit may take up to 17days (International card) to be refunded but was offered to pay it in cash so it could immediately be returned on departure (if I was just arriving in US rather than leaving I would have done this). Use of disposable cups, plates, cutlery (great to have them but would be great to have reusable ones too...even if each person got a set and had to return it at the end (the security deposit would help encourage this!)

The hotel is very clean and maintained well. The staff are friendly and helpful and housekeeping is done when requested for. The location is very convenient and safe as it is right in front of the dragon gate of Chinatown. So, there are always people walking along these roads and it is safe to walk till 8 or 9 at night.

The only drawback of the hotel was that since it is in a busy locality, there is always some traffic even later in the night, so it is not very quiet at night. But the location is also a central one and it is close to 3 BART stations, Powell, Montgomery and Embarcadero.

Im so happy I've booked a single room in this hotel!!! The staff was very kind and the entire place is very well maintained and clean! The bed was comfortable as well. They offer hot beverages in the pretty and clean kitchen all day long. Even tho the bathrooms are shared, theyvare always clean and tidy! Last but not least... the location is just the best! In the heart of San Francisco! I loved everything!

Clean facilities. One night a bathroom had some tissue on the ground, but there were plenty of other bathrooms.and it was a one time thing, NBD. Pretty amazed at how clean the staff (and guests) kept the place. Room was small, but had storage, a desk, a sink, and a fan. Bed had nice linens. Four different pillows so easy to find a few that worked. Free water in lobby and a cheap vending machine (dollar water dollar fifty drinks, and dollar twenty five snacks) so I didn't have to head out late at night.

Bed was a innerspring with some body dents. One side was comfy enough though. My neighbors were quiet and my window was to the inner courtyard so no sound problems, but would bring ear plugs just in case. Fan in the room was great for March, not sure it would handle the summer.
