Staff accommodated my request for a different room; initially I faced the road (Pine Street) and the back of the Intercontinental Hotel which is not a nice view. They then moved me to a room facing the TransAmerica Building (overlooking Powell Street) which may be the best view in the house. I very much appreciated the free bicycles (they have normal and e-bikes); the staff helping with the bikes were friendly and great. Coffee in the lobby is good & it's free; they also provide free water bottles.
They tried to charge me for some Nob Hill tourist tax. Booking was pretty clear, all fees & taxes were included in the rate I booked. Once I pointed it out, the extra tax was waved (I can't remember, but I think it would have been $40 per day, not exactly cheap).

We got room upgrade and had the best view ! Thank you
The $900 holding deposit that I was only informed at the arrival about . Don’t recall seeing it anywhere while making reservation on booking . Worth making sure it’s clear to people

Beautiful hotel. Wonderful views if you get a city view room. Beds and pillows were super comfy. It's in a clean, safe location. The hotel staff accommodated our check in needs swiftly and even kept our bags after check out so we could explore the city more. I enjoyed a nice glass of wine every night at the hotel bar. The bartenders and staff there were wonderful. I'll definitely be back!!❣️👌

Great location, friendly staff - Highly recommended! The hotel is a bit old fashioned (one of the grand old ones") - but very well been taken care of. Rooms are still very clean and cozy. The view is unbeatable, if you make sure you book "skyline view" (highly recommended!). Note: The constant noise you might hear are not caused by the air condition, but by the "CableCar"-cable

+ Great location on top of Nob Hill at junction between Powell and California cable car lines. (I got a "visitor pass" from Muni, which includes cable cars.) + Spacious room (Deluxe Queen), though a proper wardrobe would have been nice. Excellent bed. I got a kettle and tea bags when I asked for it. + Spacious bathroom with tub and appropriate body care products. + Free bike and e-bike rental. + The lifts where not exactly high-speed but their occasionally odd behaviour resulted in nice chats with other guests.
- Room safe not particularly safe as not attached to anything. - Bike and e-bike rental on daily first-come first-serve basis, which discriminates against night owls.

Absolutely amazing hotel! We stayed here for 8 nights while exploring San Francisco and it was great. The location is great - there are two cable car stops right outside and tons of restaurants just a few minutes walk away (definitely recommend Uncle Vito’s pizza on Bush St). Steep hill to walk up but that’s just San Francisco for you. It is far enough away from the craziness of Union Square (would not recommend staying there) but still easy to get everywhere. Much nicer than some of the hotels I considered in Union Sq that were much more expensive. Room was spacious and clean, staff were really friendly and you can request a kettle/microwave which they’ll bring to your room for no charge. We didn’t have breakfast but it looked nice and there was free tea/coffee/water every morning in the lobby. Will recommend to anyone coming to SF!

Free bottled water was refillable in the lobby. Room location in the inner courtyard on the top floor was great! Bed was comfortable. Black out shades helped us sleep better at night. Waiters and servers were very accommodating. The maid on our floor was very nice and helpful when we needed an extra bar of soap. I liked having the safe.
Bathroom wasn't as tidy when we arrived. Some of the tables at breakfast were not bussed so it took us a while to find a clean table to sit at. Our room only had one sitting chair. The room was big enough to have two. So the second person sat on the bed. The refrigerator in our room wasn't cold enough so our fudge melted.

The room was as I required after upgrading, with an excellent view of the skyline and Bay. The location was 3/4 the way up Nob Hill so unless you are very fit a taxi back to the hotel is a must from the port areas.
We prepaid breakfast, however the American breakfast was very boring after a couple of days, plus we were gobsmacked that Orange Juice was extra at $4 per glass which we have never come across before in all our travels! Personally I would try the paid breakfast once then look for a cafe to get something with more variety during your stay.

Staff was helpful..... the entry and parking staff did not have uniforms, it was hard to know if they were hotel employees? Most nice hotels have the bell boys and parking staff in shirts/jackets that are the same color with the name of the hotel. Location is excellent Room was nice, and housekeeping came in the morning - YAY! Fresh towels! Made the bed!
The room had a clothes rack in the bedroom, not a closet. Unusual. A tiny table in the corner of the room, barely large enough for a laptop. The restaurant was very small and had a limited breakfast and snack menu.
