I booked a garden view room but got a room near the fields, trash bins, and a welding crew set up under a tarp doing wrought iron fencing. I killed 5 large bugs in the room that looked like cockroaches, but the owner said they were water bugs. I stayed 6 nights and would have thought allowances would be made for the lousy accommodations but not the case. I was offered another room upstairs, but I'm handicapped and had 2 young grandchildren with me.

The accommodations and bugs! No maid service or clean towels for 6 nights

Pretty much everything was a good experience except they kept my deposit they will find any little thing to bring up to keep your deposit

Only problem was the carpet was very dirty and staind also for being there a week I cleaned my own room wasn't a problem for me yet thy kept deposite cs that my room was dirty yet head housekeeper seen me throw all trash an leave clean another thing thy said that was cs I had company which is stupid because if u live in motesl u have family friends that bring u food check up on u an all that other stuff.

Our family has been staying at the Lamp Liter in Visalia for YEARS!! Right now, they are going thru a remodel and once it is completed it will be even more beautiful. It is convenient for us to visit other family living in Visalia. Gentleman doing Registration is always very welcoming, friendly and will take care of anything we need. Rooms are clean and the Garden Room Grounds outside are beautiful, and pool is always sparkling clean. Housekeeping does a great job, and our room is always ready when we arrive which is greatly appreciated. This is a BIG Perk for us. My on-line booking was completed and confirmed with-in 15 minutes! We feel that Lamp Liter deserves 4-5 Stars for the service they provide. I don't need to pay a higher price anywhere else in Visalia just to get breakfast at another hotel included. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and it's just a really charming property - a throwback to the motor court era decades ago but just fine for me to enjoy my stay before I head up into Sequoia National Park for a few more beautiful days.

You can hear voices some of the rooms and the highway is right across the street... but I didn't have any problems...

This is overall a fantastic place. The room is in a very nice condition and bathroom is pretty good. The entire place is nice and clean, and the parking lot is huge.

There are only two minor concerns: (1) the water temperature of the bath is a little too low for me, and (2) there were people talking around 11 pm and it could be heard clearly.

I stayed in the non remodeled side and the bed was very hard. Also water pressure was very low. I was told when I checked out that part of the remodel was replacing the hard beds with softer upgraded beds. I was also told that the side that is finished has better beds. Overall, I would stay again.

They have a nice pool area surrounded with trees and bushes. The employee at the reception was very kind and helpful.

The bathroom and bathtub are old fashioned. 2 out of 3 bulbs didn‘t work. The carpet was so dirty that without shoes you couldn‘t walk on it.

I stayed in one of the new remodeled rooms and I must say it was very nice and beyond my expectations. This is one of my favorite places to stay in the area, rooms are a great value, location is great near the freeway, good parking clean and quiet with downtown restaurants and shopping nearby.

No complaints.

Dennis (day-time front desk clerk) was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He ensured we got the room we reserved and paid for. He had good ideas for restaurants and places to visit. Also, the courtyard gardens are gorgeous and worth a slow walk through. Also, Amanda gave us a tour of the cottages in the center. The place is old (1963) but retains much charm. Beds/pillows were very comfortable. Old pine furniture ("Thomasville" brand) was charming. Having a microwave and mini-fridge is helpful on a road trip. Nice flashback to the 20th century. New ownership. I'm intrigued by potential upgrades.

Reservation said "restaurant on site." No restaurant -- closed for awhile. Night clerk (Michelle) was not friendly or helpful. Had to drive on a highway to get food. Big pain, when arriving at 7pm in the dark and hungry for dinner. Two nightstand lamps in the room -- no overhead lighting -- impossible to read at night. Not upgraded, re lighting or places to charge devices. No Decaf coffee for the little pot. Also, no bar in the shower for stability, so we didn't use it. Ice machine was a very long walk from our room.

Love this old school property, it is currently being remodeled and I am really looking forward to the restaurant being completed next time I stay. Overall the location is great, close to freeway and downtown, clean and comfortable.

The restaurant is under construction so I didn't get to enjoy it.
