It was beautiful. The staff was friendly, and it was perfectly located! We asked to have water brought to our room and a bottle of champagne as we had gotten married and all of that was complementary so I thought that was a nice touch!

The pool is public and so when we went to get a chair at 11 AM in the morning, there were no chairs to be found and we had to sit on the ground which I ended up having ants and spiders crawling all over for me so that didn’t last long. I was so looking forward to Relaxing by the pool. It is one of the reasons we chose this hotel so that was a huge disappointment for us.

We had such a great time at the Gideon Putnam. McKenzie at the front desk was super friendly—she gave us a free room upgrade for our anniversary and even hooked us up with a coupon for the restaurant. The food was amazing. We split the duck tacos, lobster risotto, and a flatbread—everything was so good. Also, the bed was insanely comfortable. Like, we didn’t want to get up in the morning. Our suite had a great view of the park, and being able to walk right out into Saratoga Spa State Park in the morning was the best. There’s a ton to do without ever needing to leave the grounds. Definitely planning to come back. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a relaxing, low-key getaway.

We love staying at the Gideon - the property, trails, spa and staff are exemplary. The staff was so helpful even with the elevator being out and having to use the old service elevator. They couldn't have been more accommodating. Your shuttle staff is among the best! Both friendly and knowledgeable, they are wonderful to engage with.

I wish you could give a price break to those of us who have stayed many times during special times of year (Belmont). We would love to come again next year, but may have to try a different hotel nearby due to pricing.

The hotel is clean and beautiful. It’s a real throw back in time. I would absolutely love to return.

The rates should have been half since the elevators were both down. The two main elevators are under construction. The only other elevator was the manned service elevator that took extremely long to get up and down from the third floor. We mostly used the stairs. Poor management and poor customer treatment with having the elevators modernized over the busiest part of the year. It was very disappointing.

The hotel oozes historic old-world charm with its 1930-era lobby and quaint window displays annd murals along the hallways. The surrounding park is spacious and relaxing, and the proximity to the Roosevelt spa mineral baths (within walking distance) cannot be beat! They ordinarily offer a lavish brunch buffet on Sundays, but it was not available this past weekend due to two large wedding parties, or so we were told. But the a la carte breakfast offerings are ample and tasty too.

The rooms are a little dated and not especially elegant given the price, and the bathrooms could use an update, for sure. Also, we were put in a room right around the bend from the elevators (No. 425) and could hear the loud rumble of it going up and down day and night. But the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Would not stay anywhere else up there!

The location was excellent, but what was the best is the car service they provide, for going to the track, casino or the strip, they take you and they pick you up when you call, the trips are all like 10 minutes and to leave you car in the lot was Ok by me...I also enjoyed the outdoor seating and even though the rooms did not have a microwave, they provided one in the lobby and then you could eat outside where they provide tables to eat and rocking chairs to digest. They also have an enormous swimming pool, which , could open a bit earlier than 10 AM, i would prefer it opened at 8 am, all in all a nioce 4 days....

the beds were too mushy, at least on the room we stayed, the type of bed where you make an imprint and try to roll over , its like going uphill...i have too admit when i got home, my bed was so much more comfortable but we managed it for 4 nights

Breakfast was great, room very clean and the staff and grounds were exceptional

Room very small a bed and 1 chair , we mentioned when we arrived that the toilet was giving us trouble and the last day at 7am the toilet wouldn’t stop flushing maintenance came and couldn’t solve the problem after hour n a half of trying , they left and we showered and left also they did give us complementary breakfast which was very nice of them ,other than that it was a great stay

The location to SPAC made it all worthwhile.

We arrived at 3pm on a very hot afternoon and the hotel bar was not open yet, so we had to walk to the golf club (5 min) to get a cold drink. When we returned to the hotel after the show at SPAC the hotel bar had literally just closed (10pm), would not serve us, no exceptions, would not sell us a bottle of beer to drink in the spacious lobby. Next time we will bring our own cooler with drinks.

Steak was delicious. Breakfast was lovely, tasty and very large portion of porridge. The coffee in the lobby was very thoughtful. The grounds are very beautiful and calming.

My porridge needed milk, and I borrowed some from my neighbour, because the waitress was very busy. My sides were wrong during dinner, and they never gave me the Yukon potatoes. My room was very noisy: over top of the wedding party and the doors between rooms were paper thin.

The room location had a nice view and was close to the elevator. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the A/C was good. I was able to order dinner at Putnam's and take it to our room, as my mother was having trouble walking. The front desk staff, bar staff, and the maintenance gentleman were accommodating and friendly.

The beds were very tall and difficult for my elderly mother to get into. Fortunately, the maintenance gentleman who came to reset our TV remote provided my mother with a step stool to make it easier for her to get in and out of bed.
