The Notary Hotel has an excellent location — perfect for exploring Philadelphia and close to many attractions. Our room was very large, which we appreciated, but the design felt underwhelming. It seemed like a mediocre renovation, with old toilets and showers that felt cheaply done. The room itself was dark and not well lit, which made it feel a bit gloomy. On the positive side, the cleaning staff and bell boys were incredibly friendly and helpful — truly the highlight of the stay. The front desk staff was a mixed experience, depending on who you happened to get. Overall, the hotel didn’t really give that warm, “at home” feeling, which was disappointing given its potential.

The overall atmosphere lacked warmth and welcome.

Great location opposite City Hall and walking distance to many of the attractions. Rooms were attractive, comfortable and clean and the shower was hot and powerful.

The ground floor public areas were a little bland and there was a very limited choice of eateries within the hotel, although there are multiple choices with a couple of minutes walk. Lack of the coffee shop being open throughout the daytime was disappointing and the bar area was not particularly comfortable or inviting to do more than grab a quick drink rather than relax for a while.

Public spaces, rooms very nicely appointed. Decor was interesting and the holiday decorations made it very festive. The breakfast bar had great choices and the wait staff were very pleasant. The location was central to much of what we wanted to see and we could walk within 15 minutes to major museums and to our choice of restaurants. Great to be really able to control the temperature in the room. Maybe it was my Bonvoy status, but a nice touch to have the robes and slippers provided.

Not enough towel racks in the bathroom. The toilet seat was crooked, a little unsafe for trips in the middle of the night The foam beds are way too hot to provide a good night's sleep. We had to sleep on top of the coverlet so as not to melt.

Our breakfast dining experience in the hotel restaurant was great! Our waiter Clint was very attentive and courteous. Checking in was efficient and Dorian, who helped us to our room (513) with our bags was AMAZING!!! Your staff is wonderful! Thanks. E.M.

On Saturday night the bar was overcrowded with 1 bartender only, so we could not get our 2 Sangria's that we received chips for. We waited for 20 minutes but we were never served. So we didn't get to use our drink chips.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, right in the central square, right at the tip of a walk up to the museums, a few minutes from Chinatown, etc. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the east west subway line that runs east to the historic district, and west to the train station. We never needed a car. The staff are excellent. We changed our dates through booking.com, and the booking.com agent made an error. We did not notice until it was too late to cancel without a fee. The hotel waived the fee with no questions, and helped us correct the dates.

location was on the 3rd floor, room 316. Overlooking the parking lot, but very quiet. Location is PRIME! Near everything! The staff is amazing and I love that the last 2 times I've stayed, I arrived early, and I was always able to get an early check-in! This is HUGE!!! Front desk staff is AWESOME as is the valet!

coffee bar should be open for longer hours. I went to get a coffee on Saturday at 12noon and it was closed. I have to leave the hotel to go to the Starbucks.

The hotel has an excellent location. The rooms are spacious and very quiet with an excellent bathroom. The lobby is also very nice and quiet. You are close to the Wanamaker and the main buildings of the city. Public transport within easy reach. Good WiFi. Nice bar with a wide selection of drinks and very friendly staff.

The furniture and furnishings of the room show some wear and tear. The breakfast room is small and the menu is rather limited. The Valet parking is expensive, but not unusual for the Metropolitan area.

Rooms were beautiful location was perfect city centre. Bit noisy but ok Restaurant could be better fine for breakfast but not dinner.

We loved every moment of our stay. Modern but still holds all the old world charm of the original building. Great location, very close to the terminal market and all necessities within walking distance. Will definitely be back.

Allow a little extra time to catch a taxi, they don’t come past as often as other hotels. However the valet team will happily flag one down

The rooms were spacious and the decor was very nice. The front office staff was courteous and helped us check in easily.

The restaurent closed at 10pm and we had arrived at the hotel only after 9pm. We had no clue about options for dinner. Some basis room service options would have been great even if the restaurent closes at 10pm.
