Location is perfect. Right in the centre of town. Check in staff - Carlos and Aline - were so helpful with recommendations and information on things to do nearby. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Complimentary tea and coffee in the morning, refillable water bottles and ice bags are all nice extras. Would definitely recommend.

Location of the hotel can't be beat. Right on the wharf with a perfect view of the fireworks. Has a nice restaurant right next door and is centrally located in downtown Newport, walking distance to everything. Hotel was very clean and nice, room was smaller but clean and comfortable. It is on the pricey side, but less expensive than the Marriott. We'd definitely stay at Hammett's again. Also the valet parking was super convenient and speedy. Lastly they offer complimentary coffee in the lobby every morning, a nice touch.

Water pressure in shower was terrible, extremely low. No breakfast at hotel, just coffee available. This the second time staying at this hotel(July last year and August this year) both times the fire alarm went off one night between 10 Pm and 11 Pm. Hotel guest had to stand outside while Firefighters checked out the building for at least 20-30 minutes . Last year and this year, both were false alarms. Faulty fire alarms ?

We were greeted and treated with OUTSTANDING hospitality by Carlos, who went out of his way to help with our needs, including finding super glue and delivering a refrigerator. What a treasure he is (including Sam, who manages the valet crew and had the Super Glue to mend my nails!) We loved our stay and hope Carlos is there when we return! The restaurant recommendations were awesome, and the location was perfect proximity for eateries, shopping, and excursions.

Didn't like the Pocket door in the bathroom, nor lack of a closet.

I loved the free coffee downstairs in the mornings and water filling stations on each floor. A clever and eco-friendly way to supply these things to guests. Who needs the (possibly) dirty coffee makers in each room anymore? And I liked not being upsold for extra bottled water in my room like most hotels. They also have a cool feature where you place your room card into a special switch in the room as a way to save energy costs. I didn't use the gym but it looked comparable to most hotel gyms (and had windows). Hotel location is perfect for walking to many great restaurants and shops, drugstores etc. It's a little further walk to the mansions so we drove there instead. Even though our room didn't face the water, each floor has a lounge with chairs that face the water so you can hang out there if you want. Staff was super nice and helpful.

These are not negatives per se...just realities of boutique hotels. If you like the boutique experience (we do) then you will be OK with these trade-offs. For instance, there are very few drawers and hanging spaces in the room. This allowed the room to have a clean and modern look and feel. It didn't bother us, but you might have to adjust if you have a lot of stuff or are staying for a long time. We stayed for 3 nights but we are used to packing light. No refrigerators or microwaves in the room (typical for boutique hotels). The hotel is modern so if you want a New England experience (i.e. older inn etc.) then this will definitely not be it. FYI parking is an extra charge and valet only...which was fine with us.

Location - it's what you pay for with this place. We did love the look of the hotel overall. The room had blackout blinds which was nice so when we went back to take a break or at the end of the night since our window overlooked the wharf and the restaurant we just closed them and it was dark and quiet. Staff was friendly, and the room was cleaned daily, the girls on our floor were very nice as well.

Parking - we had to valet blocks away due to the boat show and there was no compensation which would have been nice, even if it was just a discount for the parking ($45 a DAY) The bar/restaurant options were a very 'fancy' Italian and not any of the normal stuff that would be good for a hotel restaurant, not even a normal wine by the glass selection so we didn't even bother, and I'm a foodie but nothing appealed to me whatsoever. No fridge or mini bar in our room. When we left we had to carry all our own luggage out, couldn't find a cart.

Daily parking fees of $45 per day seem too high

The gal at the front desk, Liz, was wonderful! Very friendly and accommodating. The room otherwise was great- clean, spacious and the water pressure was excellent.

The cost was supposed to be $153 but the final cost was $188-ish including parking. I didn’t see anything about a $35 parking cost online when i booked, so i was surprised and disappointed about that additional fee. I asked about it, but the hotel front desk person couldn’t waive it. I also wish there was a bathtub!

The Hammetts has a cool vibe! The location in my opinion is at a great central point to most everything in Newport. I liked the lounge areas. They are sprinkled about the property both inside with large windows ( even on the upper floors with good views) as well as outside with views of the water /marina. Good spots for conversation, work or enjoying the views. Complimentary coffee/tea in the morning located in the lobby lounge. Several options for breakfast were within walking distance. The valet/parking was both very easy and very convenient! The thanks ability to get ones car at any time to come and go as needed was a bonus.

Location was perfect. We were able to walk to all of our attractions. Industrial style was cool, huge windows in room and sitting areas were great.

The bar restaurant that looks like it is on premise, is actually NOT! We could not take our drink from outside bar restaurant back to our room nor could we sit on deck and enjoy the view with a nice scotch. I think the pics of this location are deceptive. Room was simple and a bit tight, but clean and nice. No closet!
