When we got to the inn we couldn't believe how in the heart of everything in Newport it was, and the off-street parking was a definite bonus. We were greeted by the friendliest innkeeper who walked us through everything and even gave us a couple of sets of keys to check out different rooms and choose the one that suited us best. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed for our visit. Was the inn brand new, no, and it did show some signs of wear, but if you want an experience in town that is unique, convenient, with great people and character, this is the place. We stayed for 5 days, and even though it was off-season, had a wonderful time.

The only thing we reflected on about our room was having a vent in the restroom to vent the shower, and possibly some rugs on the hardwood floors. But may have only been our room. So I can't say that's an issue for everyone.

The location is perfect. Newport is geographically rather small, and the Cleveland House is nicely situated right in the old town next to the courthouse. Therefore, all of old Newport is within walking distance. Plus, Newport has a free trolley bus that traverses the city, running every 20 minutes. The Cleveland House is a lovely historic property. The owner is very personable and accommodating. And, the price is exceptional value for dollar compared to typical Newport properties. A city for the rich and famous, most properties in Newport are very pricy. The Cleveland House was 1/5 the price of some nearby alternatives. Ample parking included. A nearby hotel charges $100 for parking.

The property was in a fantastic location. It was within very close walking distance to endless bars, shops and restaurants. I only had coffee there in the morning, and it was surprisingly good. they do serve a small breakfast, but we went out to breakfast instead. the man who worked there was very helpful, with a great personality. he made sure we had parking, and also gave us pointers on where to go enjoy ourselves. The woman who worked in the morning was also very sweet and kind. she let us keep our parking pass while we went out to breakfast, so we wouldn’t get a parking ticket. They let us check in early and gave us the option to check out late. I recommend this place to stay, and I would definitely stay again.

What a pleasant Inn right in the heart of all the action, but off the beaten path! Literally 1/2 block from Washington Square, and a short walk to Thames St. and all of the shopping and entertainment it offers! Yet this is on a quiet, historic little street. Next to the Newport Artillery Co. museum, (a NOT TO MISS attraction). The bed was comfortable, the bathroom walk-in shower was a joy, and the PILLOWS were perfect. Wonderful, accommodating staff as well.

Not a thing to complain about! The water pressure in the shower was a bit low, but I found out that a water main break caused the whole area to suffer from this. So no...there will be no whining from me! ;-)

Great location for our planned activities. Historic building and feel. We got an upgrade at no extra expense and host accommodated a later check out.

It would have been nice to have had coffee maker and frig but understand with an historic building electric capacity is limited.

We did not order the breakfast but one morning when my husband was getting some coffee a gentleman came up to him and asked if we ordered the. Breakfast and he said “no we’re not big breakfast eaters”, he took him to the dinning room and said if you were to choose something what would you choose and offered him just that! Thankyou so much! Otillya in the office is an awesome person, sweet, personality plus, knowledge and suggestions for visitors. She’s a keeper.

The host was amazing. We ended up having a third guest last minute and he upgraded our room to a suite with no extra cost. He always checked in to see how we were doing and to provide us recommendations for the town.

The only negative thing about the property was that there was a lot of dust so I woke up stuffy with allergies a bit.

Have been to the property numerous times and they are always great and they we very accommodating when we had to cancel with a future credit since I could not get a response from Booking.com. Breakfasts are good and the location is convenient to town (less than 5 min walk) and on a quiet street.

Booking.com - when I booked I did understand that it was non cancelable (with the proviso that they would get with the location to see if cancellation was ok). I put in the request online (since I could not find a number for Booking.com to speak to a person). I never heard anything back even after a second request. So will never use Booking again. Will can the lodging directly.

I stayed in 303. a nice corner view. The housekeeping was impeccable, super clean. I could control my room's air conditioning. It was quiet. The wifi was good, I did some work while I was there. I prefer a light breakfast rather than a big, cooked meal, which was offered. My breakfast was filling, coffee and cold water as I wished all day. The best thing about my stay was that Rick accommodated me with early check in and late check out. My car was in the shop and I had to wait for the repairs a couple of days. He was very friendly and gracious. I would definitely book this Inn again.

I can't think of anything I did not like about my stay.

The location is fantastic- walk to everything. And the young man we had contact with was very helpful and polite.

The Inn is old and could definitely use some refurbishing but it was clean and we really only used it to sleep. We wished there had been a space to sit outside.
