Excellent location, friendly staff, very decent restaurant with both good breakfast and dinner menus (all a la carte). Excellent pillows which is a top priority in judging room comfort.

An older, unrenovated hotel reminiscent of the Algonquin and the Iroquois in NYC. That's not really a negative since it is well-priced for DC. The overnight parking at $50 is out of line with the rest of the package. It would be nice to know that it's actually on I Street NW, not Pennsylvania Ave NW. You'll find it since it's right where the two come together but we had to drive around the block since if you approach on Pennsylvania you can't get to the entrance directly.

I gave it a slightly generous "8". An older building (most there are) but clean and well maintained. Staff was great, polite and a nice, good sized room with microwave and refrigerator*, very comfortable bed. Bathroom was nice, good water pressure. Coffee in room was pods and they gave us extra. Excellent central location (Foggy Bottom) near Georgetown and the Whitehouse. We walked to all the museums and attractions. Only problems were: >*They packed the refrigerator with $7 soda cans, $5 crackers, $22 small bottle of wine, etc. AND they charged my credit card for a 6oz wine. Zero chance I would ever buy any of this and told them to reverse the charge. This is likely not by accident and this practice doesn't make me feel good about their management. Sad I gotta check my credit card detail for these. >On arrival at our 9th floor room, a very strong smell of pot in the hall. Once inside the room we didn't smell it at all so we didn't complain about it. It happened again the next day, not as strong. Staff must know about his. I'd probably stay there again, but also consider others. I'd tell them up front to not charge me for anything "extra".

Adding a false $22 charge for a 6oz bottle of wine. Strong smell of pot in the hallway during two days. Edit update: so they took the $22 off my card, then added it back. Had to contest with credit card to get it back. Odd that they play these games to get a few extra bucks.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Lombardy! The location is fantastic — close to everything yet tucked into a quieter stretch of D.C., making it easy to explore and then retreat for some peace. The staff was attentive, warm, and genuinely personable — the kind of team that makes you feel like a welcome guest, not just a room number. The hotel itself is delightfully quaint and historic. You can almost imagine bygone diplomats and elegant travelers gliding down the halls with martinis in hand and important secrets in their pockets. There's a timeless quality to the place that gives it real character. All in all, Hotel Lombardy offers a warm, memorable experience wrapped in history and charm. It may not be flawless, but like a favorite old novel, it wins you over page by page. Would we stay again? Absolutely.

Now, about the quirks — because what’s a historic hotel without a little eccentricity? The bathroom fixtures had a bit of a rebellious streak, and the pillows on the first night were very enthusiastic (read: thick enough to qualify as furniture). But we found flatter pillows in the closet for the second night. Problem solved! The bed was soft and could probably use an upgrade, but the room temperature was absolutely perfect — a serious win when D.C. decides to crank up the heat into triple digits. The in-room kitchenette was lovely, with a great coffee maker and thoughtful amenities that made mornings much easier.

This a great little "funky" hotel. Quite old-fashioned in its decor. I felt like I was in a 30's movie. I believe that the hotel must have been apartments or studio apartments, as my room had a large bedroom that could have easily fit a sofa, a large desk, large dresser, small dressing and bathroom but quite adequate, and a separate kitchenette with eating area. The most important thig for me was the mattress ... AMAZING. I haven't slept that well in weeks. Sleep scores on FITBIT were 85 and above all week ... for me a rarity. If you are looking for a $ Seasons or the Ritz, this is NOT that kind of place. Just very sweet, easy, inexpensive! The Cafe for breakfast and dinner were not expensive and the food was delicious. I don't know why more people don't have dinner their. I do have two suggestions fo rthe Cafe .. the lighting and the music are not good! Too bright, too loud. The bar is really nice and comfy. You can eat in there as well. Drinks were great. Staff was really good. Kyle in the bar and Muhammad in the Cafe.

The price of the Tito's martini in the bar - at the bar - was $20. Definitely overpriced. The food in the bar was good - same kitchen - but the presentation was inconsistent with the Cafe. For instance, no bread served, th ecrembrulee int hecAfe had fruit and whipped creme garnee - but plain in the bar. And oddly, the fettuccine was egg noodles and not really fettuccine????

We were given a room with a small seating area, fridge and coffee maker as well as a dressing room en route to the ensuite. The bed was comfortable and the room well serviced each day. We had a problem with the TV at one point and this was sorted immediately. We loved the location of the hotel - within half a mile of the White House and within short walking distance to metro stations. We didn't use the hotel's restaurant because there were many other eateries in the area.

Just an eco-point relevant it seems to most hotels in North America. We are British and used to retaining our towels each day unless we indicate we want them changed. Saves on energy!

The location of the hotel is very nice for those looking to explore Washington D.C. in great detail. It is at the heart of all the action and most importantly and it is near the White House and the metro. The hotel is surrounded by parks, stores, bus stops, metro stops, and historical monuments within a walking distance. For our 4-day stay, we did not need to rent a car or use the services of a cab/uber just because of how walkable the location is. The staff is effortlessly friendly (offer to open doors, offer to call a taxi, offer to provide us with information) and easily reachable at all times. We were treated with a high level of respect, which we appreciated. They also were able to assist us with printing out our boarding passes which saved us a lot of time at the airport.

There could have been just a bit more toiletries available. But, other than that there are no complaints.

The location of hotel is fantastic. Metro from airport brought us within a few blocks which was great. We were so central it was impossible not to walk everywhere and see so much on foot. The kitchenette with fridge in a small separate area was good, and a table in there to eat at. We loved the old world charm of the hotel. The only small issue we had was not having a USB port in room plugs, which meant we had to buy a travel adapter (as visiting from europe) we were grateful to hotel to giving us an extra 40min until we had to check out as we had just run the rock n roll half marathon and we were moving slowly!!

No USB charger/connection. Plug required.

Lovely large room with alcove on the 11th floor overlooking Pennsylvania ave with the nice old buildings across the street. Wonderful sunny room. Small Kitchen. The bar was nice for a drink in the Morrocan atmosphere. The Breakfast cafe is nice and bright. Staff were very friendly. Bus stops right infront of the hotel from the Mall. Metro only 2-3 blocks away. Nice walking distance from Georgetown. A doorman even opens the door, with the brass polished. I wish I had remembered to leave my shoes outside my door in the hallway for the free shoepolishing overnight.

Our room was hot. Turning down the heat didn't work, so we turned the system off completely and opened the windows to cool it down each day at bit before bed. Unfortunately, there was no drink menu in the bar or prices (I believe they were redoing it).

Not sure of the other rooms since suites were also available..so it may not be the best for families.. I traveled with my pre teen granddaughter so. we could make do with a king bed. I would have liked a small refrigerator in the room and I had to ask for ice each night since there isn’t an ice machine. I love old buildings and this hotel did not disappoint. From the gleaming brass to the beautiful doors and moulding… breakfast was delicious and the waiter very attentive. There also is a very attractive bar open in the evenings.

Refrig in the room.

We arrived earlier than check-in and were offered an upgrade to a suite which was already for us to move into. It was spacious, included a sitting room and kitchenette and the beds were super comfortable. The best pillows I have ever slept on. We had originally booked a twin room (I was with a college friend, not a partner or spouse, and most hotels only had a double bed). The suite had a king which was huge so we were able to share it.

The staff didn't know very much about restaurants in the area. The coffee machine in the kitchenette didn't work and so we had to get someone from staff to come up and replace it. The location is very good, and although right on Pennsylvania Ave it is set back a bit and doesn't feel noisy or chaotic. Good restaurants within walking distance.
