Everything. The room was so comfortable, except for the band going for it, I slept so well, I'd happily recommend a weekend stay for anyone looking either just to rest up after a hard week, or needing a bed after a long highway drive. I booked through booking.com app and got the room at such a great price! You can get a nice cool breeze just by opening the balcony door a slight crack. The staff there did an amazing an easy walk through on checking in. I'd stay there anytime, whether for a few days or just a night. Car parking is at the back, which leads straight into a fantastic bistro (which was all packed out every time I stayed). If you want a room with amazing and peaceful old world charm, The Family Hotel is the best for that in the Maitland area that I know about!

The fan I had didn't seem to make much difference in the humid heat, hence opening the balcony door. Perhaps optional air conditioning, but a function where if that is on, the balcony doors remain locked?

I had to go to see a sick family member at the last minute, so I needed something cheap and cheerful and this place didnt disappoint! Great location, great menu, great prices (the best brisket burger I have ever had and the bartender made a mean margarita!) Super friendly staff that excelled in hospitality. Look, for $85, I wasn't going in expecting a 5 star hotel. The room was clean and tidy, the shared bathroom was surprisingly OK. The kitchenette was well stocked. The dining room and balcony in the pub was good, the front bar with the DJ was great. I fell asleep to 90's classic hip hop beats, I wasn't expecting to be able to sleep 'early' being at a pub but you dont book a pub thinking you are going to get peace and quiet right? The accommodation access was easy to get to and there was no loud noises from other guests and no access from pub patrons. Surprisingly, the noise level did die down and I woke up the next day and laughed because, clearly, I fell asleep just fine. The walls had a few plaster patches but at least they were being repaired. The next day, I had to head home early, I grabbed a damn tasty cheese toasty and amazing coffee from the Cafe out the back (and the homemade hot sauce was a chefs kiss!) The owners really know their food and beverage, what a joy! I really enjoyed my stay and as a female solo traveller, I will be back!

We did have a very nice coffee in the cafe out back. We mentioned we didn't have towels in the room when barista asked. Turned out he was the owner so he gave us a free coffee for the deficit. Bed and pillows were very comfortable.TV in room was good.

Being older ladies we found the stairs to the room with our luggage a bit difficult. This might be mentioned when booking rooms. The ceiling fan only went one low speed and setting up other fan behind door when we were so worn out was just too much. Sign in kitchenette said bread was supplied but couldn't find any to have a slice of toast. I did have a bit of trouble with the locks in the doors. The door to first bathroom was a bit stiff when trying to close. Lighting in bistro was very dim.

Super old style pub rooms, no aircon but adequate fannage. Bed seems hard but actually got a really good nights sleep, very clean. Shared fridge and kitchen area. 2 bathrooms with toilets, both super clean and the doors lock. Pinpad entry to each room and the entryway door. Bar staff were super nice and helpful. Cheap nights stay, you get what you pay for. Would fairly comfortably play a fair few rounds of uno out on the balcony.

Would kinda suck on a super hot night.

We booked a night here on our roadtrip up north travelling with our 2yo. From the warm hospitality, the complimentary welcome drink, and great atmosphere we knew we landed in the right place. The hotel has Incredible old world charm tastefully decorated and was exceptional value for money. Definitely not a bland, modern hotel thankfully, an increasingly rare find these days. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates an historic space beautifully remodelled that's run by a fantastic couple. The excellent restaurant, live jazz, kitchenette with free coffee, milk (Inc non dairy) treats , cereal etc was fantastic.

Beautuful ambience, tastefull decorated. Extremely comfy bed, lovely staff, food/ drink convenience, beautiful kitchenette, convenient location close to local shops and the hospital ny husband was admitted to.

No air-conditioning on a 40+ day made the room like a sauna. Fan didn't help. Complimentary cereal and fruit not there, minimal bread available for toast. Only 1 bowl and no plates even though cutlery was provided. Main light didn't work, TV remote didn't work ( new batteries needed I think)

It was close to the main part of town which was convenient. The bar downstairs has a really cool vibe to it as well. The staff were really friendly. The check in process was simple as well and the security is good too.

We were actually really happy with everything for what we were paying. Maybe a full length mirror in the bedroom would be good though. The bathroom stall should also have a light installed for nighttime.

Having our own bathroom was a bonus. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The added restaurant down stairs was a bonus. Food was awesome and so were the staff.

A coffee service would have been great. Our first night there was a fight upstairs , with yelling and screaming and slamming of doors, so we didn’t have a very good nights sleep. It would have been great if the balcony was separated with screening for privacy. Unfortunately the people next door kept walking past our French doors to throw their cigarette butts in the aircon drip tray. None of us smoke.

Great value for money, was perfect for an overnighter with the family. Was sad we were unable to check out the pub downstairs for dinner due to our late arrival, but it opens up early for coffee. The complimentary breakfast snacks in the communal kitchen were a hit with the kids. Room 8 was spacious and could easily accomodate us all. A beautiful old building that has had thoughtful touches added to make the stay more enjoyable.

Wonderful staff. Adorable, charming room. This was my first shared bathroom situation. It was manageable - it helped the bathroom was so cute too.

It’s a running pub and over a Saturday night, the music was pumping til about 11:30/midnight. But you could always go downstairs and have a boogie to Freddie Mercury.
