I liked the location and the vicinity of the hotel, so close to eateries shopping mall and a marketown which is just a block away. The staff specially the reception lady Nancy and Josh !! So friendly and helpful. Thanks very much Josh for going that extra mile to help me set up my mobile connection and high speed wifi. Their hotel chain has high speed wifi which was really helpful for my academic work and for successful completion of my Conference work.. Thanks IBIS !! LOVED the stay !!! Food was really yummy too....provided room service at no extra cost !!!

Location is great - central Newcastle with bus stop out the front. Room and bathroom were a decent size considering the cost and brand. Bed was very comfortable, room was clean and complete with iron and ironing board, refrigerator and tea and coffee facilities. Extra milk when requested was supplied readily and with a smile. Shower was excellent with strong flow and very hot water. Reception staff was always friendly and co-operative. Our prior request for a quite room away from elevators was accommodated. Our bag was stored on morning of check-out until we were ready to depart Newcastle in the afternoon. Restaurants and cocktail bars located in surrounding area. Overall a very good stay.

Not a thing.

Great location for CBD and Light Rail, going to Civic Theatre so was only 5min walk to Light Rail and theatre was next stop. Room was compact but perfect for 1 night stay. Booked parking spot, boom gate entrance and swipe room card. Happy Hour at bar downstairs was good.

A lot of noise early hours of Sunday morning from noisy drunk youngsters staying in rooms opposite. Not hotels fault but but a stupid guest on floor above set off fire alarms twice (was either from vaping or shower steam 5.30pm and then 3.00am had to evacuate building both times). There is a sign in the bathroom requesting the bathroom door be closed whilst showering as the fire alarms are extra sensetive.

I booked it for my family but my family didn’t get a chance to stay at the property as somehow it got overbooked. As I work as a Duty Manager in a hotel myself, this is last thing you would want to happen but i know it happens sometimes. I am really thankful for a gentleman who spoke to me on phone (Didn’t get a name) and sorted another accommodation for my family in a very short interval of time. Professional at its peak, the way he handled the situation and gave me his assurance. Thanks Again

Reception staff very welcoming and gave us ideas on where to eat/go etc I'm the evening we witnessed a different receptionist dealing with a potentially difficult patron and she handled the situation calmly and professionally without raising her voice or being argumentative. (Client thought rooms had already been paid for by someone else, but had not)

We did not eat in as we're only there for one night, and I guess there are so many other places around to choose from to eat. But dining area was not so inviting.

24 hour check in

I was questioned by reception as to why I was parked in disabled parking. You don't see my illness, he asked if I had a pass to which I confirmed I did but he still questioned my authenticity. The absolute worst thing then occurred and he told us to go to room 212, we went up and entered to our horror, there was someone already in that room and the assumption was they were in the shower, we quickly got out of there. Went down and he gave us another room card. That was below standard for the stay!

A good, cheap place to stay in an excellent location of Newcastle City. Parking on site for around $20

It's not a fancy hotel and the rooms are small and basic, but for the price it's excellent. A couple of things could be improved; The kettle was covered in dust so had to clean before using it and there was no teaspoon so had to use my toothbrush to stir coffee. A couple more pillows would've been great.

The room was comfortable and just right for my short stay. I find the location very good especially proximity to the Light Rail. The desk sand restaurant staff always tried to be helpful.

I found it annoying that even after I asked at the desk, I never had milk for my coffee and or in fact any coffee at all. I also was not told that my room would NOT be made up at the weekend but I also stayed overnight on Thursday and the room was not made up then either. I had to ASK at the desk. This could be much improved.

The staff were excellent when I reported an incident on my way up Hunter st at night

Was followed by a male in evening who was a nuisance I told the staff member who immediately locked the front door & I felt much safer Other guests told me they saw him in the motel day before I saw him following morning hanging around the mental health facility around the corner

The Ibis hotel in Newcastle is and showed that it is a few years old. But everything was sufficient for a short stay. The restaurant served a good meal with a reasonable selection. Breakfast could have been a bit better in quality. It was not warm as expected and presentation could have been a bit better.

The neighbourhood where the hotel is located starts look old and tired. People would be hesitant to go for a stroll at night.
