I love Hotel Challis’ location and its tasteful and contemporary renovation. Reception’s instructions for my late evening check in were clear and the process of getting in and accessing my room key was hassle-free. Lots of dining available near by. Potts Point Bookshop is very close. I had a view of the city. Step out and the Harbour Bridge is in view at the western end of Challis Ave.

The nearest public car park is a 15 minute walk. Ditto the train station. Might as well pay the fee at the parking station as the hotels arrangements with the parking station resulted in me overpaying by $18. Ouch! The rooms are really small. A stool is tucked under the amenities bench but there’s really no other option for seating. Salus skin and hair products are luxe. Carpets, I feel, are always an hotel’s weak spot so I recommend wearing slippers or socks in your room.

Great location, beautiful street and surrounds, we had the king room with balcony! Fantastic! it was our 2nd time staying and we really enjoyed it. Will stay again.

I had a lovely stay at this beautiful boutique-style hotel. The location is excellent, with public transport, shops and restaurants easily accessible. The bed was very comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. If you’re looking for charm, comfort, and a prime location, this is a good choice.

The only downside was the very small bathroom - the shower is essentially an extension of the toilet, and the basin is quite small with no surface space for toiletries. I will stay again, but will upgrade to a better room.

A hotel in a very good neighbourhood when visiting Sydney for the first time. It was a walking distance to many restaurants and bars, as well as the metro at Kings Cross. Also possible to walk to the botanic garden, Sydney Opera house and even Central Business District. The view from the room was wonderful. The room was quite small (15sqm) but enough for 2 people. If you needed more tea/coffee you could get it at the reception.

The air condition could have been better, we had to sleep with the window open because it felt like there was no air in the room after a while. the cleaning was okay, however there was a bottle forgotten lodged under the bed and the carpet had seen better days, especially in the corners.

Gorgeous boutique hotel.. quiet street but in great location. I stayed in the compact double. Rooms are small but expertly appointed to maximise limited space.. staff were accommodating and friendly. Prioritised early check in for our 5 rooms to accommodate a lunch booking. The communal front room was just lovely & the veranda area at front of hotel was lovely to sip a late afternoon champagne with the crystal glasses provided.. also the ironing board & iron on each level was a great touch. Really happy with this hotel and would definitely recommend it.

I would have loved a small fold down seat/bench in the double compact room.. to sit or stow bag. But for 2.5 days it was really fine

What a hidden gem! Old world charm in a beautiful part of the city. Parking was not too far away, with Lovely thoughtful & well appointed rooms with city views, beautiful staff and we loved the guest sitting room with coffee machine near reception. We sat on the porch outside the front entry which was really peaceful to enjoy that coffee and streetscape. Thank you, we loved it and highly recommend.

The room was snug but again, not that big a deal as it was perfectly laid out to have everything we needed. Parking might be tricky for some in winter with rain as it’s a 5-10 min stroll up to Kings Cross.

Breakfast : This unfortunately was not mentioned to us as an option?

1. The above breakfast option. 2. Having pre booked a room some many months before our visit to be given a room that was as far as way as possible from the enterace facilities.. namely on the very top 4th floor down a passage to the back of the building ?? We expected something better..especially in the situation in that it appeared that the howl at the time of our visit..was not very busy.

Location was awesome. Cute neighborhood - not too touristy. I loved staying here. Gave a different perspective on Sydney as we spent the first five days at Four Seasons in CBD. But I have to admit, I liked staying in Potts Point better. Felt more connected. Location was perfect.

Wih the coffee machine in the little breakfast room was open earlier. Room and bathroom very small but it was ok as we weren't in room much.

This beautifully restored period building is perfectly situated in one of Sydney’s most vibrant areas. Its proximity to the CBD and harbour provide for easy walking to most of the key attractions. With multiple restaurants and cafes at your door you are provided with limitless options.

Car parking is not easy to find in the area. However, 15 mins away you will find an underground carpark adjacent the police station. Public transportation can be easily located in the area, allowing easy access to Bondi and most key Sydney areas.

The room was very clean, location was exceptionally handy. It was perfect for what I needed it for. A short stay with a convenient location. Lots of yummy restaurants within walking distance. Check in was easy.

I was kept awake by doors slamming really loud. Which is more to do with guests than the hotel, unless they could put struts on the doors to improve the impact of them closing. Other than that it was exactly as described and pleasant enough.
