It was a lovely property that sits a bit further out of the CBD district, however it has excellent connections to the city transport system which makes it so appealing. The room was very spacious with a big bed and all the facilities any traveller could need such as tea and coffee facilities, a fridge, iron and ironing board and an excellent hair dryer. The best part about this property is how helpful the staff are. They could not do enough to help me during my stay.

My only issue with the property was the wash hand basin being in the shower. There was not much space at all to get in the shower and shut the door.

We knew that this hotel was going to be on the edge of an industrial estate but it was a great location for us as we were able to get into the City easily via the bus which stopped 100m up the road and also there were 2 Metro stations nearby that were about a 15-20 min walk (or the bus stops nearby) There were plenty of cafes and shops just up the road in Newtown and it was a bit like Brunswick St in Melbourne. Also a really nice park (Sydney Park) nearby which we walked around too. The room was very comfortable, clean and not much noise from the Hotel downstairs (we were in Rm 8)

The only thing we hadn't realised was that the airplanes from the nearby airport would be flying so low and were so loud! There is an airport curfew and I think it was from 11pm to 6am so it didn't really affect us too much

The facilities are clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The pub patrons are also welcoming, creating a relaxed and social atmosphere. There's on-site parking, and the location is excellent—central and close to everything you might need. It’s right near the vibrant areas of Marrickville, Newtown, and other popular suburbs, so you're never far from great food, culture, and nightlife. Sydney Park is just a short walk away, offering a peaceful escape in a large, beautiful green space. Despite being in a busy area, it's surprisingly quiet at night. The beds and pillows are very comfortable, and everything is cleaned daily, making it a great place to rest and recharge.

While it’s not the place to stay if you’re after fancy views, that’s not an issue at all, so much worth seeing is right nearby anyway.

I had the basic double room perfect size for a solo traveller, but could easily accommodate 2 people if u dont mind living in close quarters. The bed was super comfy and the room was clean. It had everything you need almost. Staff were super friendly and helpful and there were plenty of parking spots available. Could barely hear any street noise even though its right on a main road. Shower had good water pressure and toiletries provided. Close to amenities bars and cafes.

it would have been nice to have a small fridge without having to upgrade. And housekeeping woke me up before check out time.

Very good value for money, free parking and polite/nice staff member at check in.

It is a bit difficult to find due to the lack of signage. The first time I stayed, we missed the parking entry and had to do a massive loop. And then yesterday it happened again. Even once you know it is there, you have to slow down and count the street signs and pay lots of attention. Even the car in front of us missed it and had to reverse at the lights. Lucky for him, we were driving slowly and gave him room. Just some bigger, better and maybe light up signage for both the hotel and the parking would be really amazing.

The hotel is a little dated but the rooms were clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable. The room cleaner was very helpful. There is wifi in the room but it disconnects when you leave the room. The price was really good value and we chose that because we did not want to travel far from the airport. It has a wonderful restaurant downstairs which serves delicious meals at a good price. Not knowing the area we did not know there is really nothing around to see but it was just a brief stop over for us so it turned out fine. Beware of taxis from the airport as they are a total rip off. Much better to order an uber. Staff were helpful and we asked for extra coffee bags and sugar of which they were very obliging. You can sign onto your own streaming service on the TV which was helpful with Youtube and Netflix. You can also get a great coffee downstairs if you want a nice latte etc.

Wifi disconnecting once you left the room and were in another part of the hotel. Nothing around to see if you don't have a car to travel in.

PRO The room was large and very clean which I liked. The room had everything I needed. The dining eaperience was excellent, I had the steak cooked as requested (I don’t find that always the case in other places), the Eton Mess was the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Well done staff, I’ll be back. The 422 bus from Central Station was a gem, so easy to get there and so close to the airport and goes straight past RPA hospital. Perfect for country people. The bookin staff were pleasant and easy to understand. All in all a very pleasant visit. CON Had room 5 but wouldnt want that again because of the noise from the massive industrial fans outside the window. suggest putting soundproofing over the window to reduce the noise.

We stayed at the Southern Cross Hotel to see a show at the Enmore Theatre in Newtown. There's a bus stop across the road which has buses straight to Newtown or, use the Transport for NSW website Trip planner, for various routes anywhere. The hotel location is great for sight seeing and the airport. Free parking is available onsite - outdoors at the back of the hotel, but at least it's safely off the street. The rooms are really large and clean with compact clean ensuites and very comfortable beds. What else do you need? And, the water pressure is great, and, the WiFi is free. The pub downstairs has a lovely bar and bistro with friendly staff and reasonably priced, great meal options.

The hotel is on the Princes Hwy so, as expected, it was pretty noisy. There are rooms that face internally which may be better, but ours faced over the Hwy (Room 5). I wore earplugs so it didn't bother me at all. Access to the car park is via the last drive way on Canal Road (heading toward Princes Hwy). Don't miss it or Google will take you around the world to get back to it. There's no breakfast or cafe, unless you go out for a walk/bus, and coffee/tea options are basic. Just byo milk and coffee/tea if you're fussy.

Room had every thing we needed. Bed was really comfy. The staff were amazing, very polite and welcoming. Housekeeping did a great job, spotless and attentive! Conveniently one elevator ride down to a bar/restaurant with amazing food and decor. Lots of parking available anytime of the day.

Room was advertised as soundproof… was not soundproof. We could hear anyone who walked pass our door and people opening and closing their door. We had a small blurred window facing the hallway where you could see people walking pass and you could kind of see into the room from the outside we did have a blind though.

The bed was incredibly comfortable. It was a task to have to peel myself off it everyday to go explore haha. The food in the bar was also sublime. Definitely recommend the steak sandwich. Real fresh tasty and hearty meals. The actual bar area is very stylish

Minimal issue really but the nearest metro station (Sydenham) is a fair walk away. Not that it’s the hotels fault though just something to be aware of if looking to book somewhere with quick access to the city. A 15 minute walk is quick access for some
