Most of all, I liked the staff, namely, the personal touch and the sincere care. Also, I liked the beautiful location - directly at the Riverside/Fitroy River "Promenade." Moreover, the location is not "only beautiful", but also, is "very practical", i.e., fits perfectly the Rockhampton infrastructure. Also, I liked the food served in the Criterion Pub (Bush Inn( . Also, I liked the entertainment programme, especially the Trivia competition

The simple answer would be "nothing." I like everything about Criterion, though, to a different degree. This is why I have been staying at this place for 6 years already.

We had the family suite with ensuite on the second floor in the motel section out the back, and for two people it was lots of room. It only has one very small high window but we did not notice after a while. No kitchen or cooking allowed in the rooms which we knew, just a microwave for reheating food and kettle to make a tea or coffee, but most people probably eat in the bistro ( which we did not try but it looked popular with locals ). Good secure parking for guests behind a remote gate, no need to.park on the street. Saturday night we were there was a band playing until 1am which was fine, they were actually a good band. The rooms in the older part of the hotel would be a more authentic olde world Aussie pub experience, but they only have a shared bathroom. The old pub grand foyer and stairway is impressive. Overall a good comfy and inexpensive spot for one or two nights, handy to the riverside walks, heritage buildings and shopping. The new Art Museum a few minutes walk away is worth a look too, and free.

We loved the location, and the history.

Whilst we had a great night on Saturday night, being late we just ate at the bat. However Sunday night choose too eat in the dining room and unfortunately disappointed. Waited forever and when our meal came the vegetables were stone cold. Went back to get warmed and staff member threw cutlets into a bowl and was quite rude. Eventually came out with plate of 1/3 warm vegetables. My partner and I had the same meal. There was no need for her attitude and why would you go back to the table with lamb cutlets in a bowl and wait for vegetables!

Large main room. The toilet was separate to the bathroom. A separate main bedroom and air-conditioning in both sleeping/living areas. Very clean. There are sufficient decent towels. Cutlery, and plates and bowls. Easy access to the restaurant and pub. Wonderful old building with good ambience.

No cooking is allowed in the room, although there is a microwave to reheat food. There is no way to clean dishes, but room service takes care of it every day. Parking can be tight, but there is street parking. No bedside lights for twin beds.

Great location by the water with lots of free parking. Actual building itself is lovely and the bar/restaurant downstairs was good and not too loud at night - excellent pizza! Bed was comfy enough and they put me in a triple room so I had a double bed (free of charge) even though I'd paid for a single. A/c was good. Woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the river

Rooms are incredibly outdated in terms of decor etc and there's a shower and sink in the room, but shared toilets at the end of the hall (only one unlocked out of 5 though)

Location and facilities. The motel has a clean bathroom and comfortable room. The pub and restaurant are very old and have quite a nice bar. I definitely recommend drinking a beer there.

Carpet floor in the room and everything is quite old (tv, AC). However it is a personal choice. Just be careful for allergies people

Beautiful old hotel in the heart of Rockhampton, located right on the river in a wonderful restored historic precinct. We stayed in the motel section at the rear of the hotel, so a very short walk to the hotel restaurant. The motel included safe gated car parking. Short walk to other pubs, restaurants and cafes.

No bottle shop, and prices of bottled wine from the bar were rather high.

Always excellent customer service. Me and my mum frequently stay here and it's our favourite hotel in Rockhampton, not just because of the beautiful presentation of the accommodation, but because it's the staff here who are truly fantastic. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

It's a bit noisy and rowdy on Friday and Saturday nights, so not ideal place to stay for a lady who is on her own and needs some quiet and peaceful time away from her partner. It's not the Criterion staff's fault, but the crowd that go there get quite a bit drunk and it's not that they're threatening or anything but just feels a bit intimidating to even go downstairs and outside for a smoke at night with those people being there.

My stay was exactly what I expected at the Cri, a Hotel with a 140-year history don't expect 5-star luxury. It is what it is, but that's part of the hotel's charm. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the staff were prompt and with attention to detail. Meals were fantastic and value for money, a hot breakfast was served every day, except Mondays, from 7 am, at very reasonable prices. The Cri is centrally located and with great views of the Fitzroy River

I was a little disappointed with the coffee, maybe research a better blend.

Being in a heritage building with a great history. Very quiet being on top of a pub on the top floor. Perfect to spend the night after a long day of travel. The room had lots of character with its accents appropriate to the historic era of the building. Great location, and we looked forward to coming back on our last night in the area.

Sadly, the first room wasn't fully clean, so we had to swap rooms. This could have been due to the Rockynats event over the Easter long weekend. Staff remedied the issue immediately by giving us a different room, which was clean and to the expected standard. This experience wouldn't have deterred us from coming back as we still enjoyed our stay.
