We also stayed at the Mercure Hotel, which offered a very convenient location. The hotel was situated just a short walk from the railway station, making our arrival and departure incredibly easy. It was also only a brief stroll to the nearby bus stop, which provided quick and direct access into the main town. The location made getting around simple and stress-free, allowing us to enjoy our time without worrying about transport.

The Mercure Hotel itself was clean and well-maintained, creating a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere throughout. The hotel staff were friendly and approachable, always ready to help with anything we needed. The environment felt comfortable and relaxed, making it easy to unwind after a busy day. We also enjoyed a good night’s sleep thanks to the quiet surroundings and comfortable bed, which really added to the overall quality of our stay.

We had asked for any check in. It was a request knowing that it is not guaranteed. The ladies at the reception did not welcome us with warmth. They seemed to take pride in saying they could not accommodate us. All they had to do was welcome us (we were the only guests in the reception at that time), offer to keep our bags and send us to look at the old town with instructions. We had to ask for every one of these, met with most monosyllabic answers and lack of enthusiasm. After checking in later that afternoon we saw the first broad smiles from the housekeeping team that came to visit us with a wellcome card. This welcome was absent during the check in.

Easy check-in and speed of elevator. Very professional and efficient. Wifi was very easy to connect and worked very well.

We indicated that our room did not need to be cleaned as per hotel policy, and it was still entered/cleaned. It is very frustrating if the hotel is going to make a policy and then not follow it. There was no ice for drinks available in the hotel or any effort to resolve the issue for its occupants. And, there was nothing indicated at check-in to advise of the lack of ice.

During my holidays, I have had to write bad reviews, but happily, this is a good review. I was greeted by an enthusiastic, helpful Catherine, and she explained everything in a helpful professional manner. Nothing was too much. On occasions, I needed assistance, Christian was equally helpful to explore Salzburg, also conducted himself with the same professional enthusiasm. Dinner one night in the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was also good. The range was equal or better than more expensive hotels, and the service staff attentive. Omelette and crepe had been made for me, which was also good and presented nicely. The chef George was friendly and professional. Thank you for making my stay in Salzburg comfortable and memorable. The location is convenient to all attractions and services. Other hotels could learn from the customer service experience that was displayed to me at every interaction.Obviously, staff training is important. I will be using the Mercure brand for future choices.

Location is excellent, everything within walking distance. Rooms were exactly what you need for a city break stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful with requests.

Bathroom, the bath tub/shower combo was very high and there was no anti slip mat or anything to hold on to trying to get in and out. The lighting in bathroom was dim as well.

Absolutely everything, starting with staff, esp lady upon check in and check out also. They made a mistake with our booking but when we told them right away they apologized and upgraded our room with a complimentary mini bar- we really appreciated. Walking distance to the city center but in a quiet area. We loved absolutely everything about this hotel. Beautiful furnishings, feeling warm and welcomed, really recommended !!

Location is good - 10 minutes’ walk to the main train station and 2 minutes to the bid-stop for the Old Town. Breakfast was good value for the price. The room is reasonably comfortable for the rates charged. All the staff we met were pleasant and helpful.

The staff at Mercure were very nice, friendly and helpful. It was service with a smile. We had dinner one night at the hotel restaurant. We had the goulash soup and burger. Both were good. Our waitress Vivienne was so nice and helpful. The distance from the hotel to Old Town square was about a 20 minutes walk passing by some nice shops before the bridge. The distance from the train station to the hotel is walkable but we found it difficult with luggage. We took a taxi to the station for our train back which cost us less than ten euros. The bowl of apples for guests at the Reception was a nice touch. Would recommend this hotel for a nice stay.

The pillows were too soft for us but that is a personal preference.

I’m so impressed by Mercure Salzburg city. The stay exceeded expectations : - excellent value for money , was expecting budget and basic for the price . The room was modern and luxurious with coffee making facilities , great shower etc - the staff were so friendly and welcoming and gave some great information . They also let me check in early which was very much appreciated. Very professional and kind staff and made me feel welcome - very good location - short walk to the centre . Also very quiet and safe neighbourhood

Everything was excellent

The hotel is situated in a quiet part of town but still within easy walking distance to the old town and the main festival hall. 10 minutes walk from the station and bus stops nearby. The rooms are in good decorative order, the beds are comfortable, the air condition is very efficient which was a relief in 30 degrees plus heat. Excellent breakfast buffet in a pretty dining area. Small issue with the safe was solved within minutes after reporting by a very helpful member of staff who at her own admission was the apprentice.

Nothing negative to report - best hotel we stayed in Salzburg so far.
