The location is amazing, you can walk to the Mirabell or the train station in 10 minutes. Every night they play the film the sound of music In the common room. And they offer free coffee/milk/cereals in the morning. My point is the staff is so helpful!!!My iPhone charger was broken and I arrived so late at the Ester night, he helped me to charge it for a while and drew me a map told me where I can bought a new charger at night and recommended me a restaurant (which is soooo delicious!). Next time when I visit Salzburg I’d love to choose yoho again!

Maybe you can add a curtain for each bed? Cause the bedlamp is so bright, when someone turn it you can hardly sleep.

It's a big hostel, but it doesn't feel like it. It always felt like a very social hostel, so it was easy to meet people. The staff were really lovely, and that made it so easy to stay. Location is perfect. A short walk to the station and a short walk to the old town.

The only thing thing I didn't like is there are only microwaves in the kitchen, so two weeks without cooking got expensive. You might also want an eye mask if night lights bother you!

Stayed here for two nights in August as a solo traveller Pros: Near the main train station and main sights. Value for money. A large hostel with a kitchen and lounge. There are multiple floors with a working elevator. Also has vending machines which comes in handy for a late night snack Near the supermarket - which is in the main station - most supermarkets close at 6pm but this one is open a little later. Please note all shops close on a Sunday in Salzburg. Staff are pleasant Rooms and facilities were clean Lockers are located in the rooms. If you have larger storage they have a storage locker downstairs. Beds are comfortable and bunks have a light and charging station. Bedroom has its own sink and mirror and floor length mirror. Windows are great for fresh air. Showers were clean and comfortable. No issues with the showers. Good communication when I told them my flight was delayed. 24 hour reception Dishes and cutlery are washed by the hostel.

Cons: When I arrived the reception asked what were my plans and I mentioned the sound of music tour and Hallstatt. He didn’t sound impressed and implied these were nothing special. This was a bit of a downer. My flight was delayed and I notified them I would not arrive till after midnight. Try putting your own sheets on your bed, pillow and bed covers in the middle of the night and not trying to wake up anyone. Honestly I find it frustrating that we need to make our own beds but I understand this is to keep the cost down. I didn’t see any cooking facilities. They only had a microwave, sink and maybe a toaster.

The location is perfect, far enough away from the city that you get some quality quiet but close enough to walk to without any issues. everything was as expected, very clean and tidy and comfortable. amazing for the price and we felt very safe and welcomed. also the house red wine at the bar is exceptionally good.

The only thing that would have helped would be some privacy curtains on the beds, mostly just to block out the light. the personal reading lights on each bed are extremely bright so if your roommates are coming back later and switching lights on it is very bright and will wake you up.

Easy 5 minute walk from train station. Walking distance to the Fortress, several outdoor calesthenic gyms, Spar grocery, and plenty of other places to see. 4km walk to a big mall. Just a really good position. Lockers in room electronically locked using room key... Big enough for my backpack, the unused bed duvet, and a couple shopping bags of clothes.

A couple showers had some slow drains, so I turned off the water to lather up and turned it back on to rinse. The bar downstairs might be partially responsible for the drunks slamming doors around the facility at 2:00 a.m. No A.C. but windows open wide and there was a floor fan. Lot's of smokers around the base of the building so had to frequently close windows (I'm very surprised at the high number of smokers in Europe!)

The property is very clean and in a great location. The cost of the hostel is very reasonable compared to the rest of the city. They play 'The Sound of Music' every evening in a designated room. This is great to watch the know recognise/identify the cities highlights.

There is a travel card added to the cost of each room. This gives you access to all transport links in the area. However, I only took one bus in the time I was there. I would have rather paid less for the room and had the travel card as an added option. The shared bathrooms have frosted glass doors, rather than opaque. I didn't feel I had complete privacy.

It's very close to the train station and walkable to the major tourist sites such as Mozart's house, Christmas market, and most Sound of Music filming spots. The building itself is aged, but the amenities are quite new. There's a TV room and they arrange movie night very often.

I didn't like that the entrance to men's and women's toilets are shared, it's very weird and awkward. Another downside is that if you stay in the upper bunk, the ladder is very uncomfortable to step on, and it's unstable.

Great, safe location.

Did not anticipate having to pay for the use of towels.

Stayed here just 2 nights 1 day. The facilities, cleanliness, room, bathroom everything was great. Also free luggage room! didn't find that in any other hostel I stayed during my travel in Europe. Which is very helpful since most time your arrival does not match with the check-in time. Complementary small eateries etc... are great to quickly grab something before going out. Location is also good, Town square is pretty much walking distance. If you are into walking and exploring, pretty much everything is walkable.

This might be just one off experience, but I did not appreciate the sarcastic tone of the front desk guy. Curt replies for small queries made me feel a bit unwelcome. Again might have been just one off experience!

My review is as a first time Europe traveler woman. I stayed in both a&o salzburg and yoho hostel because I thought one was closer to the bus station from booking while in India. Huge mistake to book a&o. The interchange was exhausting and yoho is just as close by as well. A&o salzburg hbf So i arrived a&o after a crazy jam packed travel day exhausted not slept at all, my condition was visible at the reception at 12am, they gave me a room number 412 something, while full building has elevators this particular room had stairs...I somehow made it up the staircase and then there were more stairs,the towel and bedding fell off I left it there and somehow brought my luggage back down, went to them and they changed it.but the ordeal was completely unnecessary they dint even know that the room they are giving had stairs. Luggage storage price the reception dint know. Laundry price the reception dint know. I hate that you go in this condition as a traveler with 1000 things on ur mind from Iternary to early waking up and this happens. I've been there once and can know that all rooms 410 plus have stairs but the reception doesnt know. So I cant exactly waste a morning and afternoon to checkin ofcourse so I requested them to keep luggage. Later I found out that was for 8 euros my stay, my booking was hardly 25,30 euros , I find 8euros for saving the day absurd amount to ask for. Next stay was -Yoho hostel While in india booking time only they had clarified that I can leave luggage for free at their room, this was a huge huge relief for me, as a woman Traveller wise I really appreciate that the main guy helped me with luggage as well, it was very kind of them. Huge huge difference between a and o and this place, reception knew numbers laundry process, every single thing, they were prompt about mobility pass and brought it up and finished it themselves. The lady shes beautiful and very kind and intelligent she knows it all.
