Great location, all the attractions within walking distance, lots of shops and restaurants around the corner. The hotel hall has free coffee and tea, has storage for luggage. Breakfast area is big, but not a lot of options.

I stayed in standard room, it doesn’t have kettle, no refrigerator; bathroom also very small, no soap , no place to hang clothes.

This hotel is in a great location to see everything on Salzburg. 15 minute walk from train station & 10 minute walk to the old town (bit further to get to the fortress). Salzburg is not too big so everything is within walking distance - even the fortress of you want to tackle the hill )though there is a funicular if not). Very good continental style breakfast with boiled & scrambled eggs as well as the usual cereals, fruit, meat, cheese, pastries. This hotel is very warm (air con only went down to 21 degrees) but you can open the window. Tea, coffee & water available 24hours in main lounge/seating area but downside was no fridge or kettle in room so if you don’t want tea, coffee or water you’re out of luck. Recommend getting the Salzburg card , especially if you’re going out of town, which is available from reception (cash only) or you can get it online.

I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Salzburg. I studied here in college, so know Salzburg well. The location is perfect. Right next to a grocery store at the beginning of the pedestrian district. We were able to conveniently park a car while also having easy access to all of the major sites in Salzburg on foot. The hotel offers affordable beer and wine, as well as included tea and coffee service. The breakfast is excellent, high quality delicious food with everything you could want. The room was comfortable with high ceilings, good shower and very comfortable beds. We slept very well. Perfect.

Our rooms were tight with our luggage but not unexpected. The breakfast buffet was extensive and very nice; eating in the garden provided a great start for the day. The hotel location was perfect -- next to the pedestrian part of town and a very short walk to all the sights. The lobby coffee/tea station was available 24-7 and a real bonus since I am an early (pre-breakfast hours) riser. While no on-site parking is available, public parking was nearby and easily accessible.

Would have preferred a location reserved out front to unload luggage from car. The place that should be used for the hotel is apparently reserved for taxis.

Breakfast was excellent. Staff were very helpful and spoke english as well as German. Coffee & tea were available free of charge 24 hours in the bar area. Outside seating area would be excellent in summer evenings. Hotel was very clean. Bed was comfortable but bedroom space is restricted and there is only a desk chair, no room for an arm chair. We had a first floor room facing the garden area which was very quiet.

As previously mentioned by others there is no space in the bathroom to put anything down. Even the back of the wash basin is sloped foward so that items slip into the basin. Not a reason to not book this great hotel but a niggle factor.

Really great location, very walkable to all main attractions in the old city but removed enough to be a little quieter. Rooms are small but comfortable. Staff was very helpful providing water refills, umbrella, and more bedding upon requests. Breakfast is excellent. Huge variety of options to choose from and high quality. Really made the mornings simple. Enjoyed the lounge area downstairs.

Fairly small room for the price. Shower would splash out into the bathroom.

Room was very comfortable, the hotel was nice and well managed, designed interieur. The parking garage was good and we wereluckiy to arrive in time ( limited places)

Only one negative thing: the dogs were not allowed to the breakfast area however it was quite bit. There were 3 dogs ( small) and owners and we had to eat in the lobby area what was very uncomfortable and had to walk throw the reception and back several times.... When I mentioned it it the receptionist girl, was not nicely replied and showed that it is written on the entry door - like a low and not an internal dececession by management - and even told to me it is written on the booking.com.... due to the lobby is not for breakfast so the cleaning staff had to clean the area after the breakfasters.... So I think it would be easier to dedicate a corner where the dogs and owners can have breakfast there are at least 5 possibly separate area in the breakfast room.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Altstadt Hotel Hofwirt Salzburg and would definitely return again in the future. The hotel was lovely and clean, and the beds were comfortable. The continental breakfast was really nice with a good selection available to suit everyone, while the complimentary refreshments (coffee and water) on offer to guests in the lounge area were a nice touch. All of the staff were welcoming and friendly. The hotel is in a good location within walking distance of the old town and the main attractions of this beautiful city.

The room provided adequate facilities with a very easy to use shower. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast offered a good choice of dishes and drinks. The location close to the Altstadt (old town) but with bus services to the Salzkammergut (Lake District) was excellent. There was no kettle in the room to make hot drinks but free hot drinks were available in the lounge.

On arrival the room window blinds were closed and it was not possible to open the blinds although this was dealt with by room service on the following day. A request for extra pillows had to repeated before the pillows were delivered to the room..

the room is comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was very good and staff worked hard to tidy up and refill dishes; even lovely cake was available. the lobby was comfortable and there was a good coffee machine for tea and really good coffee- free the Hotel has a great location - a few steps to pedestrian area and 10 mins to get over the bridge into the old town- lovely stroll. (quite a few busses go to the hotel from right outside the main station; best to buy ticket/s in the tobacconist on the way out, a few euros cheaper than on the bus)
