It was very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and the hotel was in a good location. We had a lovely time. Thank you.

No kettle in the room or tea making facilities. British people like these.

The location was fantastic, very close to the sites, restaurants, bars, perfect. The breakfast was excellent, the usual continental type with cold meats, cheese, lovely fresh rolls, and eggs cooked to order. The room we had was ideal with enough room to spread out a bit, and although on a very busy pedestrian precinct was very quiet ensuring a good nights sleep.

The only thing we didn't enjoy was the smell coming from the bathroom drain, it really did seep into the sleeping area if you didn't close the bathroom door. I'm sure a visit from a local plumber could rectify it.

Great central location. Historic building, but nicely redecorated. Everything within short walking distance. We had a small apartment housing a family of four. That was great, with a full kitchen making breakfast more convenient (two teens that aren't too interested). Had a problem with the room, but the staff promptly moved us to another and larger apartment, so what could have become a problem was fixed because of great service.

Not much to say here, but slightly expensive breakfast. Parking a bit far away, but not really a problem (make sure your luggage has wheels). In our first room it was a bit of noise from the backyard at night, but again, nothing major.

Altstadt Hotel is in a fascinating and very old building in the middle of Salzburg with completely updated interiors surrounded by the original and ancient building with all the wonderful features you would expect with this. Vaulted ceilings, thick walls and support timbers, is just an absolute delight to part of. It is very well located to multiple restaurants and bars, but still remaining very quiet inside the property. Locality is also great and we walked to most attractions including Fortress Hohensalzburg, a medieval 11th century castle fortress on top of a hill almost right in the middle of Salzburg with amazing history and views.

Even though there was an elevator, there were still quite a few stairs to negotiate. The old story of rainfall showers that never work properly regardless of wherever they are. Too many food and bar options and all so close to the hotel (added 3 kilos while there).

The location of the hotel is outstanding. You can walk to Old Town within 5 minutes. The street the hotel is on has shopping, restaurants/pubs, church/cemetery, antique and charity shops, etc. Behind the hotel is the base of the Kapuzinerberg Mountain. There is a church up the road to the mountain where you can sit and watch the sunset over the city. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, and I had dinner in the restaurant once and it was delicious. The hotel is extraordinary, charming and a welcome experience from staying in a chain hotel.

I stayed in room 301 by myself. It was a nice room but there is no A/C, only a floor fan-A/C unit. You can open the windows, which I did. I think this particular room would be hot in the summer. It was clean and comfortable for a mid-May stay. I would stay in this room again but probably not in the summer months.

A clean, comfortable and quiet hotel with exceptional staff and located in the centre of the old town. Everything you need is on your doorstep. The train and bus stations are also about 15 minutes away on foot. The food at the hotel's restaurant is superb. The breakfast is a little limited but acceptable if staying for about a week. Although all members of staff were warm, friendly and helpful, Maja stood out as she went beyond her duty to assist the guests. If I revisit Salzburg, I would seek out the same hotel to stay there again. The hotel is very good indeed and loved staying there.

Well-maintained and operated hotel with fabulous location; friendly, helpful staff; quiet, updated, comfortable room; wonderful decor and on-site bar/restaurant

Only small things...one of the night reading lamps was poorly attached to the wall and basically dangling from a loose screw. One of the bath bulbs was out. Shag carpet, while in new(ish) condition, was a throwback to the '70's. And the out-the-door price seemed steep - EUR 450 for 2 nights. I'll have to go back and see what I was quoted on the booking - maybe there's a monster load of taxes and fees added on.

The junior suite was large. The bed was comfortable. Although it said it was an apartment, there was only the bare minimum of utensils although most people probably wouldn't be cooking that much. The two women at the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. There was a copious amount of hot water for taking showers. There was an elevator. No breakfast included with this room. The location was very good.

The shower was small and may not be suitable for everyone. Maybe somewhat overpriced but typical of Salzburg.

Location: 5minute walk to Mozart Birthplace, Getreidegasse, Mirabell Palace and major bus stops connecting to Hauptbahnhof, Airport, Hellbrunn Palace, Salzburg Zoo. The Hotel is wonderfully appointed, spotlessly clean and the staff is exceedingly accomodating and knowledgeable about Salzburg's environs, attractions, transportation options. My single room was basic in furnishings, but perfect for a single traveller staying for 5 days. Breakfast was enough to get you going in the morning. Not lavish but all nicely presented. The hotel restaurant served me perhaps the best steak I have ever eaten. Highland beef sourced from their own herd.

I had to leave.

What a great small family run hotel and amazing restaurant. We had a comfort double with an amazing xtra bed for our daughter. Although the room was compact (as expected) we still managed to have our cases all stowed away! The view over the snow covered roofs to the fort on the hill was lovely and the wi does could open to let some brisk winter air in. The bathroom is freshly renovated and spotlessly clean as is the bedroom which has a homely feel with a nice rug and deep coloured feature wall. The heating worked well allowing you to adjust it to suit! Breakfast was continental with delicious breads, meats and cheese as well as fruits and yoghurt, juices and coffee machine. We had the best steak at dinner in their restaurant (make sure to book) the beef comes from their own farm and was absolutely delicious as was the duck with red cabbage which was two whole legs! Anywhere else in the world you would get one! Lovely man who we suspect was one of the family served us and told us all about the cattle, he was funny and engaging and made the night fun! Would recommend this hotel, in a pedestrian zone with an abundance of cafes and restaurants and just over the bridge from the Mozart house and various other attractions.

Maybe tea/coffee could be provided in the rooms for me, but I just sent my husband down to the breakfast room to make one and bring it back up!
