We were somewhat disappointed first: the room was so narrow that we had two beds, end-to-end, aligned with the wall. Moreover, the bathroom was in the hallway. Later, during the checkout I was explained (very nicely) that I hadn't read my booking confirmation thoroughly: it included words "private bathroom EXTERIOR" and "twin bed" (that in Canada still means one bed and not two). So, watch out! However we decided to focus on the bright sight of our accommodation: the room and the bathroom were very clean, the beds - comfortable, the check-in process - smooth, and the location. Location was OUTSTANDING. The building is over 500 years old, partly built in the rock and the church with its bells was across the street - we became enchanted and in love with the place.

Amazing location. We walked everywhere in Salzburg. The hotel has old world charm and Chris was a great host. We are family of four two tall teenage kids...family room was tight. But we traded size of room for amazing location. Rooms clean and warm and beds comfy. We travelled in December so the warm rooms were perfect. We had read reviews about the church bells ringing during the night. But we loved the bells it just added to the atmosphere. AA+

The rooms are smallish but the building has been there for over 400 years so we weren't expecting massive bedrooms.

Centrally located in an older part of Salzburg amongst lots of shops and restaurants and very close to the oldest part of Salzburg just over one of the river’s bridges. We booked a twin room with an external but private bathroom. The hotel is in a very old building opposite a large church so we were prepared for the narrow stairs, and the chiming of church bells and the bells of the clock tower from very early in the morning to later in the evening - all part of the appeal of the property!!

Nothing really, but you need to expect what comes with the specific location of this hotel. Embrace it!!

The location is great, right in the old town. It’s a nice old building, nice architecture. Everything was clean. There was an electric kettle in the room with coffee and tea. The little common balcony was very cozy. The check-in was easy. We felt very relaxed and I would definitely come back again.

I guess for some people the fact that there is a church across the street (= bells) might be an issue, but we didn’t mind at all. It was a wonderful stay.

Location is great - uncrowded pedestrian street with great shops and restaurants, and a 10 minute walk into the old town and 20 minutes to the funicular to get to the castle. Rooms are small but nice. Security is good.

Getting into the pedestrian street to unload was a little bit of a hassle but large reasonable parking garage is 200 yards from the hotel. No elevators so luggage to 2nd floor is somewhat difficult ( I’m 73 yrs old)

A quaint and comfortable Pension. The room was small, but this was compensated for by the great location, comfort and quaint building. I found that the Pension exceeded my expectations and delivered us a very pleasant stay.

Stairs to the room was tight and would be difficult if you have a large bag, but what do you expect from a building from the 1500s.

The location is the biggest plus. Room was neat and clean. Its late November but both room and bathroom were equipped with heaters and they keep you pretty warm. Its in the pedestrian-only area with lots of shopping and food options surrounding this place. There is a quirky gift shop just 2 steps away and it has magnets with funny quotes. Few minutes walk, outside the pedestrian area and you have bus stop for buses that take you to different Salzburg areas as well as outside of Salzburg say am see or Hallstatt. You can also easily walk to the old part of the city or take a bus. There were short flight of stairs (European styled) and we were carrying light luggage so it wasn’t a big issue for us. The owner is a very pleasant person and will try his best to accommodate your request.

Central location, plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby, comfortable and clean, historic building. Snack bar in hotel operated on honour system was a real plus!

Very narrow stairs and no lift. Didn't worry me, but others may need to be warned. No coffee maker in the room although one was advertised but a kettle was there. Instant coffee was not topped up. As it is a small family concern, staff were not there on the weekend.

Location . 5 minutes walk from underground public carpark, right in pedestrian zone, 5 minutes walk to old town.

We were fine with the narrow stairs, but some might find it challenging. It’s a 500y old building, that’s how it is . And the church bells are also part of staying in a central location in Europe. Embrace it all, its authentic.

Great location, within walking distance to main tourist attractions for a good price, and close to restaurants/cafes and public transport. My bathroom (shower, toilet) was in a separate room, which wasn't a problem for me, but it is something to consider, as you will need to take all your bathroom belongings (towel, change of clothes, shampoo/body soap, etc.) with you between your room and bathroom. There is a shampoo/body soap combo in the bathroom but I brought my own. Room can be tight if you have a lot of suitcases, but I was a solo traveler so didn't need much space.
