The Ash provides a sufficient location to venture around Antwerp & is within a 5 minute walk to Antwerp Centraal train station, all the trams & buses are less than a minute away, the shopping centre is only a short stroll across the square. All the main historical parts of Antwerp are within a 10-15 minute walk, given Antwerp is more vast than the tourist map gives full details you may want to purchase a wider range area map, all the tram & bus services these areas & all the timetables are available at the tourist information bureau. The hostel has a well stocked kitchen which can get busy at certain times of the day, the dining seating area is more than suitable to cater for your needs & the outside seating area does require more seats & tables for groups of guests. The morning breakfast is a typical for the region & is available as a banquet each morning to allow guests to choose their own selection of meal. There is a bar available, but does close earlier than most bars locally, due to the local authorities request. If you like to have a drink, you are permitted to leave bottles of beer in the fridge but the communal area is closed up by 10.30pm as the large groups can be disruptive to hostel residents when returning to their dorms after excessive drinking. The beds are comfortable & there is lockers provided for each bed but best to prioritise with important papers etc & a secure lock would be beneficial to give you peace of mind.

It is best to bring ear plugs & night eye covers as the city is very lively up until 1am & sirens are constantly being used by the local services, as each bed has it's own light & not everyone remember to switch it off before sleeping both of these can provide an extra nights undisrupted sleep. Both the toilet & shower are located in the same room, which is located in the dorm & can be a problem when either are needed by large groups, so best to get up early otherwise you could be waiting a while to use either. There is laundry facilities located on the premises but I found it best to use the launderette located less than 5 minutes from the hostel, as the facilities allows you to do a bit of food shopping which is located close by.

Clean rooms and great staff. Localisation is perfect for seeing city by foot but also bus and metro station is literally on the other side of the road if u need to go somewhere farther. Kitchen is amazingly equipped and clean. There’s also room for luggages. The big plus is bathroom in room so u only share it with people in your room. I was there for Dua Lipa’s concert and they even had little note on the reception desk on how to use public transportation if u are going for this event. I totally recommend this place if u are visiting Antwerp! 🩷

Spacious, private, twin room available with en-suite shower and toilet. Clean and good value for money. Good location for the station and a reasonable walk to the old centre and waterfront. Carrefour supermarket and small square with bars nearby, (our favourite was Kassa 4). Staff were friendly and welcoming.

No air-conditioning but a desk fan was provided. The hostel bar closed at 18:00 one evening which was earlier than the signs indicated. No hand soap near the sink which was in the room, had to dispense shower gel from the bathroom and carry it out to the sink.

This was my second time staying at The ASH visiting a friend in Antwerp and I had a great time both times. Great location close to the train & bus station and decently close to the city center. Clean, spacious rooms, as well as clean bathroom. If you feel like it you can use the kitchen which is well equipped and there is enough room for multiple people to cook & eat at once. There is also a bar at the reception which is a convenience.

The mattresses were very soft and made it hard to have a great nights sleep. Also somebody stole our ham from our labelled bag in the fridge which was annoying.

I stayed in a woman only room, and it was great! It's an hostel, so don't expect tooo much, but it was my first time and I was not disappointed! The bathroom was clean and the check-in was easy. Luckily, the other girls in the room were nice and quiet as well.

There was no airco, so it was very hot at night. Also, the fact that your phone is your key, is both convenient and inconvenient. You don't have to carry keys with you, so that's nice, but you have to make sure your battery won't die otherwise you can't go into the hostel and your room.

The staff was kind and accommodating. They let us store our luggage for free both before check-in and after checkout, which was very helpful. The room was okay — we chose the garden view, and having a fan made the heat manageable. The location was very good, with easy access to everything we needed.

There was no soap in the handwashing area in the room, so we had to go into the shower to get soap just to wash our hands, which I found quite odd and inconvenient. Also, the common toilets on the ground floor often lacked soap/toilet paper.

I loved the location in relation to the train station and the city center. I felt completely safe, and the workers were really friendly and helpful. The bed in the private room was super comfortable as well!

My room was really hot on the 7th floor, but I slept with the window open and fan on, so that helped a lot. I realize this is something that the hostel staff can't really control very well, though. The check in process was a little confusing since the website for the electronic check in didnt work for me.

The property is conveniently located near the main train station and is a short walk from the city center and a shopping street which makes it easy to reach. We stayed at one of the top floors, so the night views on the city were spot on. The room itself was nice and comfortable, the bathroom was clean and spacious, and heating unit worked fine. Shared kitchen and dining area were clean as well. Just a note for travellers: if you chose checking in via reception (and not via mobile app), you might need to go to Bar ALMA next door to find the reception and get checked-in as the hotel reception was empty when we arrived.

Just a suggestion: it would be nice to have a second chair in double room as right now one of the guests needs to sit on the clean bedding.

Excellent location. ALL of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Although I didn't use the kitchen area it looked well appointed and clean as were the dining areas. My private room was better than a lot of hotels I've stayed in. It was spacious with good storage and a large table. The shower was great. The mattress was a bit softer than I like but it was comfortable and all of the bedding was spotless. This place is great value.

The elevator broke down on the Saturday evening and wasn't repaired by the time I left on Monday at lunchtime, thankfully I was on the 4th floor. The water also went off as well so I was unable to shower before going out. I don't like carpet in bedrooms. Another chair is needed. Hand soap for the sink is needed as it is separate from the toilet and shower room. The garden area would benefit from a tidy up and clean. Picnic benches would be a good asset instead of the inadequate furniture in place. I thoroughly recommend this place.

I liked how close to city centre is the cleanliness and lovely staff The lady at the reception called Lorrance was an angel with me , she helped me check in early since I was extremely tired that day and made everything so easy and pleasant for me introducing me to other Janet Jackson. Fan who was going to the concert and even playing Janet music for us. This impeccable not only customer service but human quality is what makes a difference and makes you wanna come back. I felt like home so thank you Lorrance. Totally recommended
