This was my first hostel I stayed at when I first arrived in Rio and went to 5 other hostels in 2.5 weeks to see the city but this one was like that one ex you can never get over lol. So I just had to book another 1.5 weeks here because it has everything you'd want in a hostel. 1. Super friendly staff 2. Social people/areas 3. Great facilities 4. A lot of conveniences 5. And just a great vibe overall. Had some of my best memories in the city here and will always recommend people to stay here if you want to have a good time.

This is a pro and a con - but because it's so social it can get quite loud/roudey at night which if you're tired can be not too great but if you're into it, this is definitely a pro.

had such a great experience staying at Bamboo Rio! The location is super convenient—just a few minutes from the beach and close to everything you need. The facilities were clean, the pool area was a lovely bonus, and the atmosphere was always friendly and chill. But what really made my stay special were the amazing staff members. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and helpful from the moment I arrived. I especially want to give a big shoutout to Pedro, who always went the extra mile—whether it was offering great local tips, helping organize activities, or just making everyone feel at home with his positive energy. You can tell the team here genuinely cares about the guests. Thank you Bamboo Rio for making my time in Rio unforgettable. I’ll definitely be back!

Free breakfast when I checked out, and a welcome drink on arrival were great! Super friendly and helpful staff, very on top of cleaning and a great organization of tours, events and parties!

The room was tiny, with 12 beds/people staying in there. Beds stacked 3 high and almost no room to move around, a couple people standing at a time were all that could fit. Some lockers available, but none assigned to each bed/resident, so it was a free for all if you got one or one that was able to be locked.

This is probably the best hostel I have visited with all my time travelling as fare Pedro Gm, Gabis supervisor, Ale, and Sarah were absolutely AMAZING, so helpful, kind, patient, and easy going. The hostel itself self was SUPER clean; I stayed in a dorm for 2 nights and a private room for 5 and both were kept to an extremely high standard. The hostel is very social, making it easy to make friends - there wasn’t a time I felt lonely. They were adaptable to every language, and were able to give daily recommendations. It’s based in a great location, not a far walk from the beach, local restaurants, and a quick taxi ride to all local hot spots. Probably placed in the best area, and I felt extremely safe walking up and down the road as it was always busy!

I don’t normally stay in hostels, but chose Bamboo because I was concerned about safety in Rio, and - being a solo traveler - didn’t want to be cooped up in a hotel room every evening after dark. I wanted to be around people and have a nice bar on premises - and Bamboo didn’t disappoint. The hostel is in a very convenient, safe location, easy walk to the beach. I stayed in a private room, so can’t say much about the dorms, but my room had everything you might need. Bed was comfy, AC worked well. The best thing about this hostel, of course, is how welcoming the employees, volunteers and the guests are. It has a great vibe, and a lively bar, with games, etc. They do make sure to turn off the music at 11 pm, and it gets much quieter, so people can rest/sleep. They do free tours every day (didn’t get to take advantage but pics looked great). They also rage guests to various parties every night.

The only thing that wasn’t ideal was the shower - it dribbled water in all directions, so getting wet took some time 🙃

Very helpful and friendly staff. 24hr reception was great as we arrived quite early in the morning. We had a private room with a balcony and the hammock was so nice for relaxing in. Free shampoo and shower gel in the private bathroom - and a hairdryer! We were visited on our balcony each day by a family of marmosets - so cute! Nice communal outside breakfast/bar area. Staff asked if we wanted our room cleaned each day. Great location, walkable to Copacabana.

The sheets were a bit threadbare and the room was a little pricey. The pool is v small. Wasn’t super sociable when we were there but could have been the time of year.

I had an amazing experience at this accommodation. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. Their hospitality truly made the stay even more enjoyable. The location was perfect – close to all the main attractions, yet in a peaceful area, allowing for a relaxing and quiet stay. The cleanliness of the entire property was outstanding, from the rooms to the common areas. I also appreciated the comfortable and well-equipped rooms, which made me feel right at home. The attention to detail and the overall atmosphere created a very pleasant and cozy environment.

It is very well located, a great place to meet people and one thing I really appreciated is the outlets inside the lockers to charge things safely 🙂 The manager as well as the staff were very friendly. Overall comfortable and clean !

The locking mechanism of the dorm doors make a a lot of beeping that will wake you up whenever someone enters or leaves the room even with earplugs unfortunately.. The breakfast is relatively cheap but not exceptional.

I had a fantastic stay at this hostel! The cost was very affordable, which made it a great option for budget travelers. The staff (Pedro Theme, Ale, and Fabio) were incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. It was also a pleasure to meet fellow travelers, as the guests were just as friendly and sociable. The location is perfect – it's very close to the city center, making it easy to explore all the local attractions. The neighborhood felt safe, which added to my peace of mind during my stay. Additionally, the hostel offered plenty of amenities, including free WiFi, which was a huge bonus. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend this hostel to others!

I liked my stay at Bamboo Rio Hostel. It's was a good base for exploring and going to the beach. The staff and especially Pedro was very helpful with information and tips for what to do (and not to do). They have some good options for trips around Rio.

There are a lot of Brazilians staying here and less Europeans. It was a little loud during sleeping time because my room was next to the bar and close to the reception, where there was talking during the night. That is a small minus. You can easily look forward to your stay here.
