The location is great. It’s out of the major downtown core but still close enough to get there easily. Beautiful neighborhood. Great for walks. It’s a beautiful old manor that has been kept in prestige condition. It’s attached to a large popular bar and we didn’t have to wait in line because we were hotel guests. Mind you, the bar is a student haven so it’s a younger crowd. If you’re young or young at heart, it’s a great place. Sitting and singing at the piano bar was a fun night with my son. The hotel is beautiful on the outside and inside. A mansion style building which brings you back in time. Careful you don’t get lost inside. Lots of different stairways which gives it historical character.

If you can’t do stairs, this hotel is not for you. I recommend that you ask for the lower level. The rooms are comfortable but a little on the small side. Our room did not have a mini fridge which would have been nice but not a deal breaker.

Although this hotel is in the university area, with Frat Houses nearby, it was a perfect choice for us. The hotel was quiet and relaxed. Housekeeping every day, do tea coffee etc replenished. The beds were supper comfy. The air-conditioning/forced air kept the room at gge perfect temperature overnight. The bar next door (The Maddy) was also a delight, great breakfast and evening meals, staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Restaurants cafes groceries and a couple of Tim Hortons all in walking distance. If you are using the bus tour system, walk out the front of the hotel, turn left and walk through the car park at the rear. Use the cross walk over the road and turn left. Bus stop is less than 50 yards away (opposite bus station).

Would have liked the option of breakfast before 11....it was great, but we only managed to have it on 2 occasions.

The room was tidy, and we loved the overall historical character of the place. The location was really convenient too!

There is no one to answer the front desk phone between the hours of 9pm-9am. Unfortunately, we'd misplaced our car keys, and needed to reach out to the front desk to confirm their whereabouts. We had to wait until the first staff arrived at 8am the next day before we could find our keys and get on our way. Everyone was super friendly, but it's frustrating not to have anyone on phone standby for urgent needs.

The room was perfect, I think we got really lucky facing the street. Is also seemed to be a quiet night I feel asleep quickly both evenings. We were looking to stay somewhere with a little bit more charm and this really fit the bill. The space was cozy and familiar without feeling stuffy and dated, much more personality than some chain hotels you can visit. We used the room to get ready for my wedding day and my partner and I stayed that night as well. Our stay was everything we needed, we will definitely be back again

We actually didn’t have any hiccups during our stay as we were there for such a short amount of time. It was very peaceful, exactly what we needed

Every employee did his/her best to make me comfortable. I loved the room and the fact that they supplied me with an electric heater because the thermostat only gave air conditioning. they also gave me a small refrigerator so that I could keep my medication that needed refrigeration cold. I also love your hamburgers.

I miss the breakfasts at the hotel. That was so convenient. I appreciated that it was also free like in a European hotel or a better class hotel.

I would strongly recommend this hotel. The receptionist is very sweet and helpful. Although it’s not a large hotel, the location is excellent. I stayed here for a conference at the UoT, and the price for the accommodation was very reasonable. The room size exceeded my expectations. It wasn’t very quiet at night—possibly because it was Halloween, and there’s a pub next door. Overall, I really liked this hotel, and if I have the chance, I will definitely stay here again in the future.

Big bright room with a balcony, excellent location, great price. Did not mind not having breakfast included, not a fan of hotel breakfasts generally and the hotel is so close to so many excellent breakfast & brunch spots anyway.

Decor and furniture are a little dated (though quaint). Room could have used some more dusting, and the "large bed" was just 2 single beds pushed together - we could feel the seam between them! Would have been nice to be able to turn off the continuous ventilation fan, but on the plus side it drowned out the street noise.

This is an extremely well-located hotel in a charming heritage building. Surprisingly we experienced no noise from the pub next door! The room was spacious and had a charming view.

The mattresses could use a refresh, and many wall switches don't control the lights anymore. Using the desk/nightstand lights was fine but some more ceiling lighting would be nice.

The location was excellent - we were at a conference at OISE a mere four blocks away. And, all things considered, it was reasonably priced.

That the air conditioning was not turned on before we got there. And then it took us a while to find it, and figure out how it worked.

Parking is right at the back of the hotel, pay by the hour or day but very easy and the staff sent a note about that in advance. Subway & bus terminal, an actual building not just a stop, is right next to the parking lot. We drove to Toronto in the morning, parked and took the subway to watch an afternoon blue jays game and by the time we rode back it was ready for check-in.

Traffic getting to this area is busy so if you are driving allow extra time to get there, the GPS will likely under estimate. The bed was not the best but the room was quiet. Not sure if there is an elevator but we were on the 4th floor so check in advance if that is a concern.
