Stop all your research!! If you’re in Montreal, Maison Place Royale is where you want to stay. First of all, the location is beyond superb! The flats are right above the edge of the water and located on the beautiful Rue de la Commune, the artery of old Montreal. It also backs on to the infamous Rue St Paul where history, art, architecture, incredible restaurants (check out Terrace Nelligan among others) nightlife, pubs and bars to your hearts delight awaits, and most of all, safe to walk, even all hours at night. Just up the street you find ChinaTown, then the rest of all the sights Notre Dame, etc etc. are a hop skip and a jump away. Location location location … this apartment checks all the boxes! The apartments are situated right above two restaurants that serves great food (one of them everyday serves $1 oysters and beer!) and are both busy all day up to about 10pm, all lending to the vibe and pulse of the area. Our suite was on the 4th floor and we also got a peak into a 2nd floor unit. They are divine with a gorgeous wrap around view of the St Lawrence River and the old port, Ile Ste Helene with all the landmarks Biosphere and Habitat 67, and the Montreal “Eye” - all right there - to wake up to everyday! The apartment is beautifully and tastefully decorated, beautiful glasses cutlery and dinnerware, with all up to date appliances and all you need for your stay, and the best part - it comes with an elevator! If you are in need of anything, help is just a text or call away and are responded to expeditiously and your issues resolved with minimum delay. Look no further, this is the place to stay!!!

The location is perfect along the waterfront of the old port of Montreal. Access to restaurants and nightlife all within walking distance. Parking for 15 min out front was helpful to unload the luggage before moving the car across the street to the Port Parking which cost us about $30 / day. The elevator was working in the building and helpful for the big luggage since the unit is on the 2nd floor up 2 large stair ways. The roomy apt was spacious, with such tall ceilings and exposed brick walls. Brand New feel. The lighting was great with dimmers on all lights and great reading lights in the bedroom. The clothes washer and dryer worked well, and soap was provided for both the clothes machines, and dishwasher. The kitchen was basically equipped with a Nespresso machine and a few coffee pods. The toaster worked well, and the stove did too. Large fridge. Lovely views out all the beautiful large windows which had sheer curtains. Inside the building, it appeared to be soundproof as we did not hear any noise inside the building from other units. Outside, we could hear music playing at times, through the walls. In the summer it would be loud when business is open everywhere. The TV was great. The staff was responsive when we requested more hangers, towels, and a kettle. we decided to stay a 3rd night and adding that on to our original reservation was easily handled. Great spot. To make it perfect, the sofa should be replaced with a higher back supportive couch and the bed must be larger.

Being winter, the strip along the water was closed to businesses for the season. Just a short walk up a street or two leads to open restaurants. The lights from the building and street do shine in the windows so good idea to bring eye masks if summer, if you need darkness. The bed is VERY small. Very comfortable mattress but so tight for 2 people. Maybe a double - seemed smaller than a Queen size. The sofa was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. The LOW profile sofa gives zero support on the back, head & neck. After lots of old Montreal walking, a comfy couch or chair would have been more appreciated. The pillows had so many feathers coming out and should be changed to plain pillows.

Location, apartment space, the view, the beds, the kitchen integration with social

Kids have some difficult to be independent, in the bathroom for exemple, one little bench could solve the problem of wash hands alone. Another point is the insects in the kitchen when we open the window, and we did open because sometime de air condition don’t permit we feel de real temperature and sometimes we just want to feel the city, but then… bugs invasion. Another point that don’t have any thing safe to put at the oven, we can’t cook for real e neither use the oven, we don’t feel safe to use plates or bowls.

I liked how spacious the apartment was. I loved having access to the washer and dryer and the apartment was incredibly clean when I arrived. The location is lovely. Despite there being many restaurants on the street below the apartment was nice and quiet.

Upon arrival the sofa in the living room had a few holes. The fabric/sofa may need replacing. It did not fit in with how well the rest of the apartment was maintained. Late checkout is quite pricey, and even when I did pay it the cleaner showed up at the early check-out time and tried to access the apartment while I was still getting ready and had 2 more hours in the apartment. There needs to be better communication between the booking staff and cleaners. I was quite taken aback when someone tried to enter the apartment while I was half naked, it left a bit of a bad taste in the last few hours of my stay.

The location was excellent — right in the heart of Old Montreal, steps from the Old Port and just behind the Notre-Dame Basilica. It's surrounded by restaurants and cafés, which made walking everywhere easy and enjoyable.

The elevator could use an upgrade — it’s very small and feels a bit outdated. Coffee supplies were minimal; having more on hand would’ve been appreciated. Also, the unit only has one full bathroom, which caused some delays for a group of four trying to get ready.

PERFECT location! This is right on the river front opposite the Grand Quai, & just around the corner from Basilique-de-Notre-Dame (both worth a visit). The place is spacious, the team online are friendly and respond promptly. It was so nice to have a vacation rental where everything in the kitchen works, & they’ve thought to provide a set of sharp knives, scissors and everything. There were plenty of towels, spare loo roll… even a hairdryer which was decent for a travel-size one (my hair is thick & long - usually a good test for any hair-appliance!) the bed was comfortable & the climate control works well so it was a good temperature. The smart TV was nice to have as well so I could catch up with familiar shows. It really leaves you nothing to worry about and puts you right in the heart of town to be able to enjoy your stay. It also has a great view (that’s sunrise over the St Lawrence in my photo - which I took from the living room window). It’s just down the hill from Place d’Armes metro station - ideal if you’re heading to a hockey game!

Amazing 2bedroom apartment, with a nice living room and well equipped kitchen in a 19th century building at the heart of Montreal Old Town, 1 minute walk from Notre Dame Basilica and Place des Armes, in the waterfront. This is the best area for a tourist visiting Montreal, which is a very beautiful city Very comfortable beds as well We had an unpleasant experience when we got stuck in the elevator (this is a very old building !!!), thankfully we got out on our own and the property management reacted very fast, so in the evening when we returned the elevator was back in service

We booked 2 suites, the 2nd one, 304, wasn`t so well loaded, for example, only one toilet paper was available for 3 people/3 nights, but this wasn`t a big issue

Fantastic location to local attractions and easy parking access the road at the port. Spacious apartment. We would definitely stay again.

Great kitchen, however no oven mittens or chopping board made it hard at times to prepare food and remove safely from oven. It was unfortunate the restaurant staff below used the entry way to smoke. There was noise from restaurants emptying bottles and the collection each day, but this wasn’t too bad - was quick (I was expecting worse reading other reviews).

The place was clean and had great amenities. It was well situated in old Montreal with variety of restaurants and sites to see in the area. Parking was not available, but was easy enough to find across the street at the port.

Couch was very comfortable, but was filled with down - as such, there were feathers all over the couch when we arrived, and upon using, feathers continued to come out. During our stay, WiFi, the node had to be reset daily which was frustrating. However, the host did offer to connect us to another apartment's node, which we declined. View was of the back alley, despite advertising city-view.

This is a well-presented, spacious apartment in the centre of the old city. The accommodation is very clean, comfortable and modern. The location is excellent for people wanting to explore the old city and the waterfront. The Museum of Archaeology and History across the square (Place Royal) is excellent and worth a visit. Also there's a good cafe (Tommy's) for morning coffee just around the corner. We found access to the metro and bus systems easily accessible, which opened up the whole of Montreal.

Not much it was all very good. The restaurants in the adjoining building were a bit noisy until about 10:00pm, but didn't disturb us.
