The hotel is in a very good location, and the staff is very attentive. The rooms are very clean and spacious, though they had a slight musty smell, which is understandable given the humidity in the area. However, the windows do not face outside, making the rooms quite dark. The pool is extremely small. Breakfast was good, but it would be nice if they included more traditional Colombian dishes. The spa service could be improved—we had a facial, but the staff didn’t explain the process or the products being used. At the end, they didn’t provide any recommendations, such as whether it was safe to be in the sun afterward. Overall, a good experience with some areas for improvement.

Staff is excellent. Interior, rooftop, restaurant, breakfast spread, beds, and pillows are comfortable and nice. I requested support with scheduling a massage and ordering a taxi and they were easy and helpful via What’s App. There is someone at the door to let you in 24/7. I felt very safe as a solo guest. They learned my name and knew my room #.

Honestly not much I didn’t like. The power went out the morning I left and that isn’t in the control of the hotel. The whole area was out. There’s construction nearby but again, not the property’s control. Cartagena is growing and as a traveler I try to understand that.

Wonderful stay!! Casa Canabal is a beautiful boutique hotel in the middle of the Getsemani district. My husband and I did a short vacation to Cartagena and another location along with 3 other couples, and I was responsible for choosing the hotel. Research led me to Casa Canabal...what a great choice! We were all extremely happy with this lovely hotel The rooms are clean and the bed is very comfortable. The hotel is literally in the middle of Getsemani, and there's easy access to everything, especially restaurants. But what makes this hotel stand out is its people. The staff is lovely. So friendly, professional, and attentive, every one of them. We received excellent service overall. Although our Spanish was limited, we were able to communicate because they were so attentive and eager to help. They went out of their way to make our stay fantastic, whether it was arranging our airport pickups or having sandwiches ready for us to take on the morning of our departure. We had an early flight and missed the hotel breakfast. Special thanks to Rosmy, She's a gem. Also to Affonso and Juan in the restaurant. I can't say enough about the staff. I highly recommend Casa Canabal.

Check-in was a little long but maybe understandable as there were 8 of us, and we arrived around midnight

We loved our three days at Casa Canabal in the bustling Getsemani district. From the moment we arrived when we were greeted with refreshing drink, to the moment we left, this was an oasis of calm and unexpected luxury. The breakfast is excellent, with eggs to order alongside fresh fruit and the usual continental offerings. All fresh and delicious! The staff, Alfonso, Juan, Freddie were super helpful, nothing too much trouble. Reception (sorry I forgot their names!) beyond kind and welcoming. The room itself was spacious and the bed luxurious. Bathroom was spa-like and exceptionally clean. The rooftop was a welcome relief in the stifling heat of Cartegena and we were glad to take a dip in the pool and rest in the shade. When you step out of the door, it's a colourful, noisy, festival atmosphere and yet none of this permeates the calm, quiet of the hotel. Cannot recommend Casa Canabal highly enough. It was a real treat for us at the end of our travels.

Nothing - it was perfect

I LOVED EVERYTHING about this property! As soon as you walk in from a long day of travel and busy streets of Getsemani, you’re walking into an oasis. The staff is there to greet you and the check in process was easy. Check is not until 3 so they stored our luggage and we went to grab lunch. The exterior doors of the hotel is always locked so we felt safe. Whenever you need to enter, they’re always there to let you in. Some do not speak much English, but they are very helpful and accompany. The room was perfect and so so clean! Cleanest hotel I’ve been to to be quite honest. Everyday, they came to refresh our room. We stayed in the deluxe double and they are queen beds. The WiFi works 24/7, the pool is always clean, and at night, we settled in watching Netflix (smart tv). I would book 10x again!

The property is in a great location, in the heart of the Getsemani neighborhood. Despite the location no noise was heard from the bedroom. The hotel is a few minutes walking from a lot of restaurants, vibrant shops, and the old city. Breakfast was delicious as they offer several options of bread, fruit, fresh juice, coffee, meets and more. I was always able to have a good breakfast as a vegan, which is not always the case. Additionally, staff was very friendly and extremely kind. The rooftop pool is also a very nice addition to cool down when the sun gets really hot!

Everything - an oasis in the middle of Getsemani . Staff were excellent. Bed very comfortable- lovely cool room . No windows a plus in my opinion - very quiet , high ceilings made room very airy . Breakfast very good , lovely service . 24 hour reception very secure

The staff is very friendly and helpful, every single one of them. They sincerely want you to enjoy your stay. Special thanks to Alfonso, Mayrose, Karen, Sandra and Jonathan. Terrace level with pool is lovely.

The walls and floors are hollow concrete, so you hear every other rooms alarm clocks, phone calls, conversations, etc, as well as luggage being rolled along the long hallways at 0400. Also the gap under the door is big enough for a pizza box to slide through, so the flies and mosquitos from outside come into your room. The interior of the hotel is not air-conditioned, so your room and the restaurant are the only cool rooms in the hotel. I'm sure that's less of a problem in the non summer months.

Everything was perfect from the staff to the room, to the service. The cherry on the cake is the free storage’s luggage for a maximum of 3 days. This allowed us to spend 3 days in the Rosario island avoiding any extra luggage than a bikini and a flip flop 😄 A special thank goes to Alfonso who was always smiling and professional!

I only share reviews when they are above excellence. Hotel Canabal met & exceeded our expectations in every aspect of a 5 star hotel. The staff was amazing, professional, kind. Location was great. Breakfast was delicious! And Alfonzo, the dining room manager provided us with amazing hospitality and customer service. Also special thanks to Brenda at Concierge, their bartender anc Irina in housekeeping. we will definitely stay w/ them again when we return to Cartagena.
