Location

The hotel is very old and dated. It needs a massive renovation to keep its 5 star rating. When I book accommodation through booking.com I always receive the worst room, I never get what I believe I booked and paid for, when I question the hotel, they say I should have booked directly and not through booking.com The furniture and carpet were so dirty that I requested blankets be put over the couch so we could feel comfortable sitting on it. The dressing gown was old and dirty, and the spa looked like a dirty, uncared for environment. We wouldn't stay there again, or recommend it to anyone.

The beds were very comfy - definitely recommend if you're going with a friend to get the twin room with two double beds. The breakfast from the buffet style restaurant was so yummy and nice - the eggs benedict station was a nice touch as well as a proper coffee machine that was included in the breakfast. The toiletries were abundant and plentiful and smelt amazing. Overall service was satisfactory.

The room was a bit dated and the bathroom was not very well maintained, the wallpaper was peeling off the wall in the joins, one of the lamps didn't work and the room smelt of musty marijuana at times ( although this could've been the neighbours). The bathroom was the biggest led down though as he bath tiles were falling off at the base of the bath, the shower head was leaky and therefore had a low water pressure, the shower door didn't close properly and leaked all over the floor and the exhaust fan didn't work so the whole bathroom fogged up after a 5 min shower!

The staff were great and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Despite being on the 4th floor, I was unable to hear any traffic from outside. The facilities, such as the spa and pool, were up to their usual high standard.

One or two-ply thin-as-tissue toilet paper. This is a false economy and sends the wrong message. It makes a visitor think "hmm, if they're skimping on toilet paper, what else is wrong?" It also brings unwanted comparisons to one star motels. Just reach in the pockets and provide 3-ply toilet paper. You provide excellent toiletries, scrumptious towels and wonderful showers... so why not good toilet paper?

Great location and nice bedroom and bathroom. The buffet breakfast was good, which you would expect for $45. The lady at the reception desk this morning 13th Feb was helpful and friendly.

We arrived late at night and there was nobody to help with our luggage, to get it out of the taxi or to keep the hotel door open while we carried the luggage inside. There was nothing complimentary in the room except for what felt like cheap coffee and tea. With all this, it didn't feel like a 5-star hotel for us (although they charge like one).

During our four-night stay with our two children, we found the hotel accommodation to be generally satisfactory. Situated in close proximity to the train and light rail station, the hotel offers convenient access to Circular Quay, Town Hall, China Town, and Central Station. Numerous convenience stores and restaurants are located nearby. The room and double bed are generously sized, and the staff are exceptionally amiable and helpful. However, the cleanliness of the hotel's beds and towels left something to be desired. Grateful if the hotel could consider improving this aspect for a more enjoyable stay.

Sauna was not quite hot enough. Signs in pool area need to be much clearer re ages allowed in jacuzzi/hot tub and sauna. Saw several very young kids taken into hot tub far too hot and even babies. This is a major health risk. Also several kids going in and out of sauna unsupervised. Suggest also adults should take outdoor shoes off before coming into pool area, occasionally several fully dressed adults came in and sat eating drinking which we felt was inappropriate.

The location is excellent, a short stroll to Circular Quay, the Opera House and all communication links. The staff could not be faulted. The breakfast was sumptuous and service polite and efficient. Joseph helped us to locate and move into a different room when we found the bed in ours was lumpy and uncomfortable. He was so supportive and showed us two other rooms, then helped us move our luggage and asked us several times when we passed him in the foyer if there was anything we needed. A real gem. We had access to the Jamison Club Lounge as part of our room package on one of the top floors. This was well staffed, very comfortable, and provided drinks and a great selection of nibbles each evening.

Our bed in the room we were initially given felt like two kangaroos were lying on their backs kicking up at us. But this was speedily resolved when we mentioned it, to our complete satisfaction. Otherwise we had a wonderful stay and would certainly consider staying here if we were lucky enough to return to this wonderful city.

Room was spacious , breakfast , cleanliness , and pool area were super. We enjoyed our stay.

I booked room with Jamison lounge access. Coffee machine was not ready to be used . Required some cleaning every day to be able to be used. Machine didn’t make any milk coffees only black if at all - milk wasn’t pumped or bin tray was over flooded and full , no cups for coffee or bottled water available. In my opinion maintenance must overlook that area on regular basis over the day to make sure Coffee machine is functioning and enough cups, bottled water are there. When I reported it to receptions it took long time for someone to check.

From check in, to check out, our whole experience at Amora was amazing and exceeded our expectations! We hadn't used Amora for business yet so wasn't sure what to expect. The accommodation, the staff, the rooms, the food, the conference centres and function rooms; all excellent. We are returning again for business soon! The only thing is the gym could open earlier. With starting work early and being an early riser, I am usually at the gym 5.30am but it wasn't open. This is the only thing I wish was different. Otherwise, its wonderful.
