Location was good. Lübecker Straße underground station was almost at the doorstep of the hotel with connection to both U1 and U3 lines, which take you to central station, town hall and many other places of interest. Room was modern, clean and well equipped. Heating was optimum. Arrangements of hot kettle/tea/coffee in the room were good bonus. Breakfast was excellent in terms of both quality and spread.

We stayed in a room with a double bed and a double sofa bed – which was a bit congested for 4 persons. As the sofa turned into a bed, there was not much place to sit except on the beds ( there was no chair in the room). Though the toilet was nicely organized, there was no way to lock the door. It was not a big problem - but we had to communicate well while using it 😊

We had a big and comfortable room for 4 people, the facilities were all great, the room was clean. Breakfast was also good with a lot of options. The reactivity of the staff was also great when we had a minor issue, so that was also a plus.

There is no discount for the parking if you are a hotel guest, so you pay the usual fee. We paid 81 euros for 3 days which is a normal price for an external parking. I know it is administered by another company, but every hotel has a partnership where they offer a 15-25% discount to hotel guests, even on some external parking, I am sure a deal can be made here also.

Our group of 3 traveled by car and stayed in 1 room. The extra bed was basically a pull-out couch/bed, but was comfortable. Parking was on location (underground / directly under the hotel with elevator access), and cost €27/day for parking. The location is great - it may not be as central as the Novotel Hamburg Central Station, but this Novotel costs less and has a Wellness area (including Sauna with a view), and is it's only about a 8 min drive by car to the city, there is an U-bahn on the corner just outside the hotel, and only about a 6 min walk down the street is a great brunch place called "Mit Herz und Zucker"... we did not include breakfast but the area looked spacious and comfy. At night the same area turned into a lounge where they also served drinks, and the staff was very friendly; we asked them for extra glasses (and even honey) to make tea in our rooms after a long day walking through the city in snowy and frozen conditions, the staff immediately assisted us which was very kind of them! The wellness area was a nice place to relax after a long cold day walking around the city. The sauna was 95°C hot and also had a nice window view looking towards the southern part of the city. There were plenty of extra towels and showers to use after the sauna - which was useful since we had 3 people using 1 bathroom. The gym looked nice but unfortunately we didn't have time to use it. Overall I would recommend staying at Novotel Hamburg City Alster!

Staff helped when taxi would only accept cash. Room was nice. Clean, well appointed. Shower was lovely. I asked for and got extra pillows. Breakfast was good. Lots of variety. Dinner was good. Waiter was excellent, very kind and engaging. The underground station entrance was right outside the hotel and ran frequently. Very handy for getting around the city.

There was construction going on in the hotel during our stay. These things have to be done sometime so it is what it is. Perhaps connected to this, the lifts were very slow. We went walking to restaurants nearby and the area was not great. I did not feel entirely safe walking with my kids there after dark. There is a hospital closeby so there were sirens on and off all the time. Room temperature was difficult to regulate.

Very nice hotel at a perfect location (close to city centre and with the metro station only 30 meters from the city entrance). A good variety and comfortable space for breakfast. Although there was long queue after some time in the morning (especially after 09.00) for the breakfast, the personnel was amazingly fast and efficient in emptying and cleaning the tables and arranging for the new guests to find a table pretty quickly.

The price for the hotel parking (which I didn't care to be informed in advance) seemed a bit expensive (52 euros for a less than 48 hours).

Novotel in Hamburg met absolutely all expectations. We had a smooth arrival, stay and departure. Breakfast was superb, the beds were really comfortable and pleasant. We came for the Half Marathon and the hotel staff allowed us to shower afterwards there, even though we had to leave the keys earlier on that day. Location was also great, really well connected.

The only minor inconvenience was the parking. We expected that it was included in the price, but that was not the case. It costs €26 extra, which we did not accept and we had to park somewhere else. Apart from that, the service was excellent.

The staff was very friendly and willing to help. I am very satisfied with how quickly and nice they assisted us with little son accommodation. The location is right near the subway, you can reach the city center in ten minutes. There are many wonderful children's playgrounds around, so in the evening we spent time there, without needing to ride far away. The room was very clean and well maintained.

Shout out for the great, comfortable beds and pillows. I have to say the beds are super comfy compared to many other hotels. We had a couch in the room which was v nice. The proximity from a metro station, "Lübecker Straße" made everywhere easy to reach. The housekeeping is very attentive as well and made sure that our room is tidy and clean - especially we had a baby.

I really appreciated the comfort and cleanliness of the hotel. The staff were helpful and kind, making our stay even more enjoyable. We also liked the spa facilities, which added a relaxing touch to our visit.

The ongoing construction work at the entrance was a bit inconvenient and took away from the overall experience. It would have been helpful to have been informed about this beforehand.

Did not like the booking of the breakfast slots we missed 2 morning as we was not aware of the slots. So had to purchase breakfast somewhere else but I have already paid for it.
