The location of the hotel is excellent. super close to two stations with service of 4 tube lines made it very easy to travel around and get anywhere. It is also close to couple of very good restaurants and a lovely market. The hotel itself is very nice decorated and the stuff was helpful and friendly. the room was spacious, the bad was confy. we had enough room to open both suitcases. Shower was great with lot's of hot water. they gave us two bottles of water complementary each day and there was a small fridge, a kettle, coffee and tea and even milk. Perfect for starting the day. We didn't had breakfast in the hotel but it seems very good.

A very nice, well-designed hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The self check-in/check-out option is available. Rooms were spotlessly clean, and the air conditioning and lifts worked perfectly. The area of the hotel are modern, well-constructed, and neatly maintained. Great location — slightly away from the city center (about 25 minutes by metro), but very well connected to public transport. The hotel is only 50 meters away from Aldgate East metro station. Plenty of restaurants nearby — great for breakfast or for dinner after a long day.

The lighting in the room is a bit difficult to control, but it’s not a major issue

The reception staff, in particular Raj, were very helpful and let us check into the room earlier when we asked to leave our bags. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent. Everything was very clean. The breakfast was an excellent buffet with everything you could wish for and more. The staff were helpful and would get fresh fried or poached eggs. Also got me a fresh flat white one morning when the coffee machine was turning out tepid coffee. The hotel is just a couple of minutes from the nearest tube and there are a few decent cafes and restaurants nearby.

One side of the bed was a bit close to the wardrobe, but there was enough room in the room, including a small desk and a couple of chairs. The bathroom lighting was a bit dark. These are just small points for improvement but didn't detract from an overall excellent stay.

The hotel's location is ideal: the neighbourhood is very nice and quiet, Aldgate East (stop for the District) tube is just a few metres away. Tower Bridge, Horizon 22, Sky Garden and other attractions are within walking distance. There are also mini-markets and tasty pubs nearby. We had an Executive room, which was very well-designed, quiet, warm and clean (with daily housekeeping), and with a very spacious shower. The excellent breakfast is definitely one of the many advantages of this hotel: rich, varied and fresh. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, ready to meet any need.

The only negative point was the lack of an extractor fan in the bathroom.

This is our second time staying the Clayton. First time was in Manchester last year. They keep the same standard through out the chains it seems. I love Nespresso machine and a few eatery they put at the mini bar for us. Free water and cookies etc. The sofa and the bed are comfy.

The set temperature of the mini fridge is very weak, and there is no way to adjust it. The drinks that left there over night hardly get cold. The water pressure in the shower is weaker at some point of the day.

Very nice design. Comfy beds. Spacious rooms. Good location, great tube connections. Quite walkable surroundings. Responsive staff. Tasty breakfast with good variety. Good value for money. I'd stay here again.

Minor issues: -breakfast buffet closed way too early in my opinion (10am, if I recall) - however, the staff admitted us 15min to go, and let us linger 30min while the other tables were being cleaned. -The shower curtain should be swapped for a longer one - it ended 30-40cm above ground, which meant that the bathroom floor was completely wet after we took a shower and it had to be mopped up. -The iron had dirty calcium deposits in it, and it messed up our white clothing a bit, but we called the reception and got sent up a new one within minutes.

For sure in top10 (if not top3) hotels I've ever visited. The staff was just perfect, very friendly, very kind. When I was working from my room with "please don't disturb me" note on my door, I got posted that my room can be refreshed later and what to do for it (I totally loved this transparency rather than "we tried, you were there, so bye" which I experienced in other hotels). Breakfast very good, rich, delicious with option to get extra egg dishes or personalised porridge to the table. Whenever going to London, I'll always first check this hotel's availability.

Fabulous location - I wouldn’t normally have looked this far east in London, but actually it was perfectly located. Right opposite Aldgate East (great tube connections to across the city) and a short walk from Aldgate made getting around super easy. A short walk to Spitalfields, Shoreditch and Liverpool Street. Really tastefully decorated and the staff were really welcoming. We arrived on a Friday and were welcomed with a glass of Prosecco (free-fizz Fridays upon check-in). Check-in was really quick and easy which was great. We booked a deluxe double, which was great value for a weekend stay, but ended up in a penthouse suite as part of the hotel’s ’guest of the day’ perk - giving us a free upgrade to the penthouse, 2 free drinks at the bar and a complimentary late check-out. A really lovely surprise and such a treat as we were only there for one night. The room was huge and really comfortable. There were also a selection of free goodies in a goody-bag for us. Really thoughtful.

Absolutely nothing

1. Location was perfect! Walking distance to Algate and Algate East stations with quick trips to various tourist attractions. Only 15 minute walk to the Tower of London. 2. So close to the Brick Lane, Curry Mile of London, with a plethora of authentic Indian restaurants to try. Plenty of popular Chinese restaurants and a surprise restaurant, Babel Grill House, a great Lebanese restaurant. 3. Right next to Whitechapel and easily join a Jack the Ripper tour. 4. Absolutely love the bed and the room is really quiet. Got some really good rest in this hotel. 5. Breakfast is pretty good with a wide variety of choices. Works well if you're staying for 3-4 days. 6. Courteous hotel front desk staff. Aameenah was particularly great, she helped us sort out our reservation issues. Absolutely appreciated her help!

The hotel is very well situated, near to the subway and in a good area, we felt safe around it. The staff is very kind and helpful, the rooms and the bathrooms have a very good size.

There is a very heavy duvet on the beds and I asked for lighter blanket options but there wasnt any and it was not comfortable to sleep, we felt too hot, even with the air conditioning on. Besides that, there are no sheets on the beads, just the linens covering the mattress and then the very heavy duvet straight in contact to the body. I also found that the bathroom could be lighter, as there is no windows it is a little bit dark to do the make up. And its not possible to open any window in the room, so its always full closed.
