Great location, close to different public transport stops, restaurants, landmarks and shops. Good TV system that gives you a lot of information. Pillows were very hard but I personally liked them.

Overpriced breakfast, instead I recommend you get some ready made food from the many always-open convenience stores around before you go to sleep. Wasteful with amenities, despite many things being one use only, you can definitely reuse them. Everyday you'll get a new bunch of them hung to your room's door handle with no apparent way to choose what to receive. No wardrobe, you'll need to keep your clothes in your luggage.

The staff and location were fantastic. It’s just a few minutes away from Ueno Station and other metro stops in the Ginza and Chiyoda areas. It offers good value for money, although the rooms are small. However, everything works, and it allows you to be as independent as possible. There’s a currency exchange available in the lobby (cash only), a few vending machines, and convenience stores across the street. It’s also within walking distance of Ueno and Akihabara. Thanks to the staff, we were able to leave our luggage and enjoy a final day in Tokyo without it. We also booked another visit for a few days in a week, and everything was smooth and hassle-free.

It is a hotel that is value for money. Do not expect this hotel with facilities as it is a simple hotel for just sleep and go. I like the location of the hotel. For me, the train stations are within walking distances. I also appreaciate the wonderful staff that were very polite and nice to me during my check in and out of the hotel. Kudos to the staff of APA Ueno Hirokoji. I have read negative remarks regarding the noise of train traveling across the area and was quite worry as I am a light sleeper. However, it was acceptable and I have good night sleep throughout the 10 days stay. There is also a gluten free resturant. Highly recommend this hotel.

They only provide two bottles of mineral waters throughout my whole stay. Perhaps this is the current norm for the hotels in Tokyo. Other than this, this is a nice simple hotel for sleep and go.

The APA tagline of "simplified luxury" is fully exemplified by the APA hotel Ueno-Hirokoji. The room was compact but well organized. There was everything a traveler would need and they even managed to get certain room facilities like full bath, shower, bidet, vanity, desk, fridge, multiple electrical outlets, in a room half the size of a typical hotel but every bit as functional. The staff at Ueno-Hirokoji was excellent and accommodating even though we had a young baby in tow and needed more care and attention than other guests. K. Karan was especially helpful and had a workable knowledge of English. This Hotel is also quite central, within walking distance of a supermarket (LIFE supermarket), a variety of upscale, casual, and chain restaurants, AKIHABARA, Ueno Amayecho.

Only centralized heating and cooling. No individual room HVAC. The room is smaller than the typical hotel room, but reasonable considering its central location.

The property was clean and as advertised. Pictures posted by others clearly represent the property. Some of the pictures though make the room look dated, but everything is modern and worked well. The bed could easily fit two people and the space under the bed for luggage is plenty for two travelers. Staff were friendly and spoke multiple languages. They didn't give me a hard time communicating in English. Amenities were plenty and accurately described.

The only part of my stay that I didn't care for was the breakfast options. There was only two options to choose from, an "american" breakfast and Pho soup. I tried both and didn't care for either. Would have much preferred a more traditional Japanese option. The American one was too sugary and sweet. No complaints about anything else. I just would not add on breakfast at my next stay.

Good Ueno location, not far from Ueno Park with many museums, shrines, a zoo and historic features. Walking distance to metro station. Room was bigger than average. Room for suitcases under the bed. Friendly staff.. some from India. Adjoining restaurant if you wanted to eat breakfast on premises.

Not much to criticize based upon value point price for room. It was generally adequate. However, the one pillow provided on the bed was too thin for a 4 day stay, and management couldn’t give us additional pillows for some reason. Perhaps have a few extra on hand if guests ask for them?

This was our second stay at this APA Hotel and we were just as satisfied as the first time. The location is excellent—just a short walk to the G Line and Ueno Station, which has a direct Keisei express to Narita Airport. Ueno Park is also nearby, with lots of things to do, and there are plenty of convenience stores, restaurants, and cafés around. One of the highlights of our stay was the helpful staff. They stored our luggage for free while we traveled to Kyoto and Osaka for a week, as long as we had a return reservation. That saved us around €120 in storage fees! They also helped us book a taxi and answered all our questions—super friendly and efficient. Would definitely stay here again!

This location is close to Akihabara, Ueno, and the subway station. The room was clean and as advertised. I really enjoying being able to fit my large luggage under the bed. It made a huge difference. The staff was very helpful. We added a extra room night to come back to Tokyo early, and Booking.com hadn't sent over the information yet when we arrived. We showed them our reservation on the app - and they made it work so we could check-in on time. The staff is very nice and helpful.

The pillows were flat and not very comfortable. We requested soft pillows, and they had only one left. So they run out! By American standards the beds were stiff, but it's very normal in Japan.

The location is exceptional. Various metro lines nearby. Ueno is a fun area to explore and lots to do nearby. If I come back to Tokyo I will stay in this area. Small rooms but that is normal for Tokyo budget hotel. No noise whatsoever, neither from neighbours or the street. We slept soundly. Fresh towels and amenities delivered everyday, however to a point where it’s a bit excessive - during our stay (2pax x 9nights) we were delivered 36 towels and 18 dressing gowns. (?!?!) The hotel let us keep luggage for a time after checkout so we could have breakfast.

Old, thick carpet in the room smelt bad and held a lot of dust and debris. There were lots of tiny flies in the room especially on the bed linen. They were NOT bed bugs, but something else. They were winged and did not bite. Luckily my partner and I aren’t too squeamish so was not enough to complain. We noticed them especially on the first day, and thereafter when the linens got replaced.

This was a comfortable facility to stay in other than some issues I already knew about. The bathroom and room was very compact but I was expecting that. Good AC, good lighting, a fridge for keeping konbini drinks or snacks.

The single pillow provided was quite thin. I would not have been able to sleep with just that. Although I did not ask staff about changing it in some way, I did use one of my travel bags stuffed with clothes as a makeshift second pillow. This is good enough for me, but maybe not for others. I was also unsure what to do with the bags of amenaties provided daily. I needed and used the towels but the rest of the items piled up in my room and were not always removed during the 3-day mandatory cleaning.
