The accommodation is located in a fairly autonomous area with very "strong" attractions nearby, very close to supermarkets (ALDI and Lidl) and shops. There was a day when we didn't go to the Bordeaux center! The apartment is small but had everything. Very sensitive "nose" since every time I cooked the alarm went off. :) It was very helpful that it had a luggage storage room. Good value for money.
I really missed the fact that there was no lounge-lobby. We had no place to meet with my friends or even spend a cold evening with them comfortably. Very inelegant - inconvenient that we were asked for a 90 euro deposit. The bus stops to the city center were a bit of a walk away.

As this property is a 2* it should be rated accordingly. The reception team were always friendly and helpful. Special mention to 'Sarah' during our check-in! We asked for and were given a quiet (non-road facing room) - so thank you! The room was very clean and had the basics required and expected of a 2* property. There is a laundry facility on-site, which we didn't use but would be handy for others perhaps. Aldi (supermarket) is less than 5mins walk and Lidl (supermarket) is less than 10mins walk. The property borders the Bassins a flot and it is a lovely pedestrian walk along the bassins all the way to Cite du Vin and the Halles de Bacalan (think gourmet meets food market). Cite du Vin is VERY touristy but the wine tasting on the top floor with great views does make up for it. The Halles de Bacalan is quite pricey but the choice and atmosphere make up for the cost. We felt safe walking around the area at night and it was well lit. Strongly recommend to go the Bassins a lumiere (5 mins walk) as this experience is exceptional. The Musee Mer Maritime is also within easy walking distance and is very informative. The miniature model ships hanging from the ceiling are quite something.
For a short break in a 2* property it met our expectations.

I had booked this hotel last minute for a spontaneous trip to Bordeaux, choosing this one based on its location and price. I wasn't expexting too much with it being only rated 2 star , but I have to say I was very mpressed I had chosen a studio room so I could self cater. The small American kitchen was equipped well for the basic needs. Hob, microwave, fridge, coffee machine , plates , bowls, cups, glasses, pans, and utensils. ( f there was anything I would add to improve, it would be some simple cooking condiments like salt, pepoer, and oil, as these are not things likely to be purchased for such a short stay.) The room itself was large enough with a good size double bed, plenty of stylish storage space, a clean practical bathroom and a large window overlooking the harbour. The window could be opened easily for some fresh air, and it had a modern electric shutter to totally block out light for sleep. They also offer free WiFi. The hotel was easy to get to from the airport via public transport , taking the airport tram then a bus which stopped a 1 min walk away. The hotel building itself was very nice and in a great location overlooking the harbour where there are many bars, restaurants, and cafes. Just a walk to the end of the harbour, you have the Cit de Vin museum. It also has an Aldi supermarket within a short walking distance, and the centre can be easily reached by bus, tram, or even on foot. I don't often write reviews, but Hotel Montempo deserves credit and a big thumbs up !! Thank you for a very pleasant stay !

We liked the area and the price. We also liked that our room was at the side of the port. Luckily the weather was ok, so we didn't need cooling in our room since there is no AC. Also they lent us an umbrella when we needed, with no extra charge (we left 10€ for guarantee, which they returned).
We didn't like the fact that we had to leave 90€ for guarantee when we arrived, because as we saw inside the room, they charge so many things (even if you leave the kitchen dirty). The charges were a ruprise for us and we tried to clean our room before we leave, to avoid it. We asked for a room in 3rd floor, but we were in the 1st. We also didn't book breakfast because the buffet was poor for 9€/each.

The location is good. I liked that it was next to the water and there were plenty of restaurants behind the hotel. The Cite de Vin is also within walking distance. Although a little far from downtown/main city area, public transportation is great from this location. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
The windows are not super well insulated so you can hear a lot of noise from people out at night. Our room faced the back where are the restaurants and bars are so it got pretty loud at night. Also, our beds had plastic mattress covers, which made a lot of noise and that was kind of weird.

Really friendly staff, will try to help in any way they can. A very nice view from the window which actually opened so I could air the room. Tram and bus stops were close by. They have good green credentials too ie recycling, composting and soap dispensers in kitchen and shower to cut down on packaging.
The rooms are very well equipped but you couldn’t call them cosy as they all have a corporate grey decor-nothing to complain about though.

The staff was very nice and welcoming. The the hotel itself was very well maintained and clean. The room was well-equipped with everything needed for a couple of days stay. The price was good for what we got.
The room that I was staying did not have an air condition which made it a bit cold in December. The water tap in the bathroom was a bit complex to understand how it works and from time to time there was cold water coming. The hotel is not closely situated to the public transport, but a 10-minute walk was bearable

Great location next to many amenities. Bars, Restaurants, a Gym, and a 15 minute walk from Cite Du Vin, a great sight to see, along with the tram at the Cite Du Vin location that takes you straight into the city! Very clean and the staff were very accommodating. I will return if I find myself in Bordeaux again.
The bedsheets became uncomfortable to sleep in due to the heat of the room.

The Location was ideal. Close to Cite de Vin. Public transport is close by. Beautiful view over the Marina with the sun rising in the morning. Small Kitchen to cook a coffee or tea in the morning. An Aldi and a Lidl are in the Neighbourhood.
That the Air Conditioning is there but is not working. By Temperatures over 25°C at night you have to leave the window open. The Moskitos come inside and the young people who go to the bars like to stand around singing and talking till small hours of the morning.
