I parked in the Doumer car park, which I had pre-booked on the hotel’s recommendation. It has number plate recognition so just swing down with confidence - they know you are coming and know who you are! When you climb up the pedestrian stairs to street level, look immediately left and there is the door to the hotel. The gentleman on reception was lovely. He was still there much later when I returned from an evening drink and was (amazingly) still there when I checked out after breakfast. Caen is quite a cool city. I went exploring at 11 pm and immediately found loads of bars full of cool people enjoying their Saturday night. I only stayed out till 12.30 but there was not much sign of things slowing down. Breakfast in the hotel started at 6am (very helpful for ferry travellers) and was generously plentiful. I only paid €70 for the night so unlimited breakfast felt like a bargain! A good experience.
The hotel was ace. The room was small. So it should be at this price - it was clean, quiet and convenient. I did wonder whether I should have booked in Ouistreham rather than Caen. It is a 15 minute drive from the ferry, which in the dark and a bit knackered was more than expected. I found the car park and the hotel so it panned out well but I could imagine a less stressful scenario.

Great location to visit this beautiful city. Staff were very friendly and helpful; breakfast was substantial and excellent value. Room was clean and adequate; bed was really comfortable.
Parking arrangements were convenient but rather expensive which adds to the overall cost of the visit. Only to be expected for a location so close to the centre, but still a bit of a pain.

Near city centre, so good location. Clean. Comfortable bed. Very pleasant and obliging staff. No pretensions...
Bed had plastic under sheet to protect mattress; this caused sheet to become wet with perspiration during the night - not pleasant. Room like a little box with nowhere to put anything, no storage. This would be fine for an overnight stay but not for a week.

The room was brilliant a very lovely surprise to have a balcony over the street. Beds very comfortable. Great shower. Staff very lovely and very knowledgeable and helpful
The breakfast was a bit basic; having hot food, such as scrambled eggs, hot pancakes would have been nicer but the food that was available was good and we loved the loose leaf tea options

Staff were friendly and were welcoming. We had been scammed by another property but was good to have a friendly face
One room was next to the lift but on request was moved Thanks Rooms were warm as no air conditioning and the fans were very dusty however able to open the window to cool down overnight

The breakfast was fine. Would have been nice to have granola, but there was a seed mixture that went well with yogurt. Good selection overall. My phone fell out of my pocket the day the taxi driver dropped us off at the hotel. The gentleman working the reception desk called the taxi company and he said they would return it in a few hours. It was not returned, but in the morning Cathy was working the reception desk and she called the taxi company and was insistent they return it. I had my phone in less than an hour. I really appreciated her initiative.
Nothing. Everything was fine.

Excellent location for exploring Caen. Breakfast was satisfactory and the staff kindly allowed us to have breakfast earlier than usual so that we could check out with plenty of time to catch our ferry. Particularly liked having the connecting door to the neighbouring room occupied by others in our party.
Our only criticism was the size of the room and the provision of only one chair in the room however it was acceptable for 2-njght stay

Everything except no single beds but as ex Army men we accepted it as the Staff were very and sincerely sorry and did all they could to offset our plight... Parking was handy at Paul Doumer but very expensive... We shall re-visit in 2025 and beyond...
All covered above as you could not have improved the weather!!

The hotel is clean and comfortable. The breakfast is also typical European which suits me very well. The hotels location is perfect for bars, restaurants and the city centre. Although they don’t have their own car parking there is an underground secure car park within 30meters and only costs euro 1.50 per night between 7pm and 8am . How good is that😀
There isn’t much to dislike. It’s basic without any frills.
