I booked the deluxe double room for five nights at Hotel Barriere Lille. The hotel was less than ten minutes walk from both the Lille train stations, in an area about twenty minutes from the centre of old Lille. The spacious room on a high floor overlooked a beautiful park and vistas of the city. It was comfortable and absolutely quiet. The room had everything I needed. I used the espresso machine every morning, and I took advantage of the sauna and steam room, included in my room fee. There is a casino in the hotel that I did not visit. The staff was friendly and the area was perfect as it was close to transportation but not right in the middle of the busy city. I enjoyed Hotel Barriere Lille.

Location is fantastic for Eurostar customers (including us) but the route to centre ville is less than salubrious, especially at night. I know Lille very well (ex-Eurostar manager from the Waterloo and early St Pancras days) so had hoped that the Lille Mairie would have looked at Avenue Willy Brandt by now for pedestrians, but it still needs some work... the only petit bémol!

The staff is very friendly and kind. The team at the brasserie was exceptionally efficient and kind.

There is a slight lack of discipline, except at the Brasserie: 1) a cleaning staff ate some of the breakfast I left in the room (the plate should have been cleared but stayed there when I came back), 2) the barman was often absent around 6 pm and we had to claim someone to show up, 3) missing items from the breakfast ordered as a room service. All this is not a big deal, but it is not the standard of a 5-stars hotel service we expect.

We stayed three nights in this elegant hotel, well located just 3 minutes walk from Gare Lille Europe Station and Westfield Mall, and about 6 minutes by cab from the centre. The staff were courteous, warm and well attuned to ensuring that our stay was as fully comfortable and pleasing. There's a restaurant within the complex which served reasonably good meals. We had breakfast and dinner a couple of nights.

I would have liked the restaurant to cater for patrons with special dietary needs, such as offering gluten free and dairy free substitutes besides just gluten free bread rolls and salads. However, kitchen staff did their best to please.

Room was a great size, and very comfortable. Nice touches of chocolate on the turned down bed, sewing kit slippers, robes etc. Reception staff were friendly and went the extra mile to be helpful - great recommendation for places to eat and where to go to appreciate the visit.

Work on the main entrance meaning trade vehicles on the entrance drop off, no sign with the hotel name or indication of the vehicle drop off area, so we missed the turn and had to drive round the block twice before actually arriving at the hotel.

This was my second visit to this hotel. It is a great location, close to the Lille Europe train station and Euralille shopping centre. The old town in Lille is a slightly longer walk away but still manageable by foot. The rooms are clean and spacious with full length windows. I had a view of the park. Bed is very comfortable and bathroom is spacious with a large walk in shower. I loved the wardrobe which opened from both the main room and the bathroom. I didn't use the spa but it looked nice. The gym was small but adequate for a short stay. I dined at the main buffet restaurant and with the exceptionally hot weather, I was able to have breakfast and dinner outside on the terrace every day. Staff were very friendly and courteous.

Nothing at all. The shower felt a bit slippy and you need to take care stepping out of the shower. The room was a bit warm despite the aircon but the weather was exceptionally hot during my visit and my room had sun all day. I kept the curtains closed during the day whilst I was at work.

The location of the hotel is at walking distance from the Lille city centre and in a very quiet area. The hotel staff goes to great lengths to make your stay very comfortable and the high level of service and eye for detail allow for a very relaxing stay. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and enjoyed the excellent food in the gastronomic restaurant as well as the rich breakfast.

There was absolutely nothing we did not like.

The staff made our stay comfortable and went the extra mile to offer attentive service. The room was elegant, with extra touches like a pouffe in the ante room of the bathroom and all.the little items for sewing and extras for toiletries. WiFi worked. Room service was courteous. Pleasing stay.

Nothing. If wishes were granted, I would wish for a more varied options for people with food sensitivities. Gluten free and lactose free options for example.

The room was very comfortable and well stocked with bathroom toiletries. Tea, coffee and water was also provided. The staff at reception were extremely helpful and solved any issues we had. We had not planned to eat at the hotel but decided to at the last minute. The food and service were excellent. Breakfast was a buffet which was good but expensive.

Lovely hotel, fantastic staff. 5 minute walk from Eurostar station. Short taxi ride or 15 minutes walk from Lille centre.

Bit of a lack of privacy in the bathroom. Gap around frosted glass door which allowed anyone in the bedroom to see in at a certain angle, also every slight 'bathroom ' noise could be heard. May not be a problem for some couples but may make you self conscious if sharing with a friend.
