Amazing decor throughout. Our bedroom felt luxurious and we loved having a hand basin each. The dining room had a fantastic collection of tiered cake plates and other gorgeous china.The breads and sweets available were excellent. Reception staff were professional and attentive. The breakfast host was outstanding and made us so welcome, with coffees on demand. Great location, right on the square.

The staff were extremely helpful and the room, although small, was very quaint and Victorian in its decor. It overlooked Bellecour place, therefore very well situated!

It would've been great if there was a lift up to reception from the ground floor, as you have to lug your suitcases up 2 flights of stairs to get to the reception. The reception staff were extremely helpful however, and did help with this but it would've been much easier if there was a lift. Also, the room is very dimly lit, making it extremely hard to put on makeup and getting dressed in the evening but those weren't big issues.

We were welcomed warmly by Stefania, who was extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The breakfast was outstanding in its variety and quality of food. Our room was very peaceful at night with no noise, and the bed was very comfortable. Our bathroom had a good walk-in shower and separate toilet. The air-conditioning worked well.

The room was very dark even with curtain open and lights on. Better lights were needed, especially as the walls and fixtures were all dark colours. Reception is on the first level, and the elevator starts from there. You need to carry suitcases up 2 flights of stairs from ground level.

This hotel has character and charm. It's a wonderful old building retaining much of its historic design, beautifully adapted for modern guests. Our room had comfortable beds and bathroom and a charming seating area set for tea. The period decor was really delightful. The breakfast room in particular was a treat: richly appointed with period china, photos, prints, and historic souvenirs from Lyons. The breakfast itself was excellent: eggs cooked to order, excellent breads and pastries, a nice selection of meats, cheeses, and fruit. The staff in the breakfast room were very pleasant. The location too is excellent; with the metro and a public parking lot half a block away and within very easy walking distance of great restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay.

Other reviewers have mentioned the stairs: it's true, you carry your bags up a floor to the reception area. But it was well, well worth it, even for people like us who way overpack.

This hotel is beautiful, unique, and perfectly located. We were impressed with the size of the room and the gorgeous bathroom. It was really handy to have a split bath, too! The hotel is beautifully decorated and very quiet, even though it's located on a main square. There's a metro station just outside, making it very easy to reach the train station or other parts of the city. Though it's a short walk from the Old Town, there are lots of shopping streets and great restaurants just a few minutes from the hotel. I would definitely stay in this part of town again rather than in the Old Town, which is much busier.

We had to wait a couple of hours to access our room upon check-in because of a problem with the cleaning staff, but the hotel gave us free breakfast the next day to make up for it. The breakfast was so delicious that we had it the next day as well, even though we hadn't planned to.

Love, love, love this place! Stunning room looking out over the Place Bellecour set up in a way that made you feel like you had time travelled back to the 19th Century, but with extra comforts. The staff are just wonderful and have many helpful tips to help you make the most of your stay in Lyon. The location was perfect for us, just on the other side of the river from the old town. Not too busy, not too quiet, and close enough to excellent restaurants and cafes. Absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a tranquil space with loads of individual style.

It should be noted that the reception is on the first floor and the elevator only goes from the first floor up. This was not a problem for us, but it would be good to let more infirm people know that they can leave their bags at the front door, and reception will help you get them up.

The room was on the small side, and a bit cramped with a small table and two chairs between the bed and the shower. But the room was exceptionally quiet and the bed was comfortable -- I slept unusually well, and I liked the period charm of the room. That's true of the whole hotel -- it has so much atmosphere that everyday life feels far away. The staff was friendly and thoughtful (my luggage was delivered to my room while I was absent), and the location is extremely convenient. This was my second stay at the hotel, and I'm glad I came back.

Really nothing.

I loved my very traditional French room which overlooks the Place Belcour and with a view of the basilique. The location was perfect allowing most exploration on foot. The petit déjeuner and salle de manger plus the gallery of photos and paintings were wonderful. The hotel was very clean throughout. All except one receptionist were wonderful and willing to speak to me in French. Nothing was too much trouble for them. (One receptionist was somewhat rude and said I should speak English as it is faster. He also was dismissive when I said a nearby brasserie which he'd suggested wasn't so good afterall.

Staff were all superb. Very friendly. Very helpful. Absolutely loved the room. Shower was superb. My wife loved the bath too although a tadge difficult to get out as it’s so deep. Breakfast room was wonderfully quirky & eccentric. Absolutely would go back at a drop of a hat. 4/5 star luxury at a 3 star cost. Superb value.

I wouldn’t say I didn’t like the steps going up to reception but that’s the only thing that comes anywhere something that could be called dislike. Maybe the room could have had a little more natural light but it really wasn’t an issue whatsoever.

The room was fantastic, a truly unique experience. A cozy space, we both slept incredibly well. Very quiet and peaceful. The location couldn't be anymore central, so we walked everywhere. Shopping and dining, Lyon has you covered. Explore the streets off the main pedestrianised area for the best boutiques and restaurants. The staff at Bayard Bellecour were exceptionally helpful, chapeau!

Only a couple of small things to bear in mind. At least in our room, the shower and bath were in an open space, which meant taking a shower was kind of messy, it was so easy for water build up on the floor. Otherwise we can't recommend this hotel enough. We would definitely stay again.
