Staying at the InterContinental Hotel Lyon was like stepping into a living painting, a journey not just of comfort, but of time itself. The grand architecture whispered stories of centuries past, while the atmosphere wrapped us in quiet elegance. Our room opened to the gentle flow of the Rhône, a view so serene, it felt like a dream drifting just beyond the glass. For three unforgettable nights, we lived in a world where beauty lingered in every detail, a stay that felt less like a hotel, and more like a love letter to Lyon.

Incredible building and renovation… can’t say the place isn’t stunning if you like historical places. Well done! Also to be noted that the car valets were very good and friendly.

As usual, unfortunately, the service wasn’t very good. Few examples: called several times the reception and none picked up, stayed on the second floor and it wasn’t smelling good at all in the corridor to the rooms, TV were not working well in both bedrooms I occupied which was overly frustrating as Olympics were on! Shower in the second room was not functioning fully…

We stayed here for 2 nights, and even though it was short, we had an excellent stay. I don't often give 10/10 ratings, but this hotel did everything right. Immediately upon arrival, we felt welcomed, the Valets were very professional, and it was a pleasure to talk to them. They were also very careful and respectful with my car. At the reception, the person who checked us in guided us straight to our room and explained everything in detail. The professionalism and friendliness of the staff at every level and in every facility of the hotel was simply excellent. This is quite a rare thing to experience these days. So hats off to the staff! I also want to add a special note that the day we arrived was my wife's birthday and even days before our check in, the concierge staff were extremely helpful in setting up a little surprise arrangement in the room on the day of our arrival. They set up everything exactly as i had requested! So I would like to give a special thanks to all the staff members who helped me organize that! The room we stayed in was spacious with high ceilings, the bed was very comfortable, and we had a beautiful view of the Rhone River. The room has a modern minimalist style, which i liked very much. The breakfast was great with a lot of options in the buffet, as well as a la carte. The food was excellent. The hotel is located very centrally and most landmarks and sights are walkable from the hotel. Lastly, all things considered, i felt this hotel was excellent value. The price we paid was very competitive and is absolutely worth every penny. We would absolutely stay here again on our next trip to Lyon.

Everything was basically perfect! If i had to nitpick, the only thing was that the wooden floor in our room definitely had some very visible wear and tear, scratches across the surface, probably through moving furniture around. However, this was not something that affected our stay in the slightest.

2 story luxury river view suite didn't work as well as it could have as there was no water for the kettle/coffee machine in the lounge where it was located so you had to go downstairs to fill up the kettle or take the kettle etc downstairs and the chromecast connects to the downstairs TV only which effectively made the upstairs TV and lounge area pointless and you do need to be streaming something as there is only 1 english language station available which is BBC world news. Going up and down the stairs was a bit of a pain on a few night stay. We would have preferred a single story river view room in hindsight.

Only had breakfast once but it was excellent (es[ecially the scrambled eggs). Great room (upgraded to river view). Very well designed and vg bed. Staff very friendly and helpful What a beautiful building it is, and loved walking around the courtyards

Our initial room was not ready at 3.30 in the afternoon, so we were upgraded to a better room. However, servicing of the rooms continued to be late and did not happen at all one day. We think that the "please service the room" sign and the "do not disturb" signs should be more differentiated, as we assume the staff saw a sign on our door and assumed it was the do not disturb sign. But mid-late afternoon is very late for room servicing.

Warm welcome at the reception. Hotel’s building was amazing there were many restaurant / shop options. Since the building is ancient hotel’s ambiance was amazing. Hotel’s bar The Dome is exceptional. The room was spacious, housekeeping & turndown service everyday. They leave mint tea which is a nice touch. The room has all the amenities and spotless clean. Breakfast was ok, an open buffet every morning. Great location walking distance to all atractions & restaurants.

Breakfast was good. The buffet had enough choices for everyone but the coffee could be better. The room was spacious and comfy (we are a family of 3) also soundproof. Hotel was close to everywhere, we just walked to reach most of the city's attractions and main areas.

As we were a family of 3 a flod-up bed was added to the room. The bed was so squeaky that the one sleeping in and the one sleeping in the closest bed to the flod-up one couldn't sleep. You just expect better from an IHG hotel.

Spa - not sure how they are allowed to say they are a 5star when the spa is not theirs and you have to pay to access it and moreover you even have to exit the hotel to reach it. On top staff at the Cinq Mondes really unprofessional and they do not distinguish from a hotel client or outside client. As well not worth it as a Spa since it is very small and has no feeling of spa.

Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice. Staff were most attentive and couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel was spotlessly clean. Decor was superb. The room was very comfortable, with everything you could possibly need, catered for. The hotel is in a perfect location, close to sights, restaurants and bars. We were also impressed by the gift of wine and chocolate.

Although very clean, there was an unpleasant smell in our shower and by our day of departure, it seemed that the toilet was leaking. We did report the problem when we checked out. Although a little disappointing, it did not spoil our experience.

The location was excellent, the staff were professional and friendly, and the room was very clean and comfortable.

I was somewhat disappointed in the food. I expected the offerings at a premier hotel in the gastronomic capital of France to be exceptional. Everything I ate, both in the restaurant and from room service was very expensive, but not as excellent or delicious as I had expected.
