The hotel had a beautiful, classic old-time style. The elevator and the stained glass windows added to the ambiance. The staff were very professional, helpful, and amenable. The breakfast buffet had an amazing choice of cakes and breads. The hot chocolate was wonderful.

As in many hotels, there was little space to organize our belongings. Although our room was large, storage space was limited.

Excellent location, comfortable bed, large room, exceptionally helpful staff who gave great restaurant recommendations and were very kind to our three year old. The hotel is beautiful and the room very nice. Bathroom is spacious and has a door which doesn’t make a noise when you open and close it so you don’t end up waking your partner. Rooms are nicely air conditioned and beds/bedding very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. We didn’t try the breakfast as there were lots of specialty coffee breakfast places nearby.

If I were looking for faults I would say the shower water pressure could’ve been better, but it wasn’t terrible.

Everything! Location, room, superb breakfast, amazing staff and service. I am gluten intolerant and the breakfast had great gluten-free options. My husband had a medical emergency during our stay and the Front Desk personnel were just awesome! They called the ambulance for us and helped us decide what to do. They also visited us a few times after to make sure everything was ok and brought us a nice card with some candies. We were touched by the detailed attention. Only good things to say about this hotel. Highly recommended it!

Nothing...everything was perfect!

We really enjoyed our stay. We arrived with an early flight and were luckily able to check in around mid-day and leave in the afternoon with a late check-out. The staff is very accommodating, welcoming and pleasant. We stayed in room 302, it has a bathtub and overlooks a small courtyard with no noise as requested. Very comfortable beds, very silent room, the aircon worked well to keep the room warm, amenities were pleasant, towels changed every day. Breakfast was nice, sufficient selection and tasty. Location is incredible, very central.

The water pressure in the shower could improve, and the glass screen didn't have a silicone stopper so quite a bit of water sprays out. The breakfast room was so busy on Sunday morning and staff were lovely but barely keeping up. The bathroom of our room was a little dirty on our arrival but was cleaner the next day. I think it may be that the hotel gets very busy on weekends, or maybe just a coincidence. The hotel offers one bottle of still and one bottle of carbonated water, 0.5l each, every day. The caps were really difficult to open with the provided bottle opener. For non-gas water drinkers, 0.5l of still water daily is not really ideal but the tap water is supposed to be drinkable and we bought our own from a nearby shop.

Staff, location, bathroom and bed were all fantastic! The bathroom was one of the biggest I’ve had at a hotel in Europe. Location was close to most everything we wanted to see and do. Free hot chocolate in the lobby was a great touch during the holidays

I have stayed at different hotels in Europe and there's always a few things that bother me: 1) not having eletric kettle to boil water and to make tea 2) being higher rated than what they deserve So when I found that this hotel provide both coffee maker and electric kettle, I was really surprised! Especially the kettle was spotless clean without white buildup( I once experienced having kettle with layers of white limescale at a 4 star hotel in Luxemburg, pure disgusting...) Other than that, M Carlton Lyon hotel is very well located, within walking distance to the old town and central area, surrounded by lots of restaurants and cafes. The room that i was staying really match the photo- really spacious( even the bathroom was big!), clean and quite, makes me feel really comfortable and feel want to go back there for a longer stay.

Not really...the pomp of the shampoo wasn't working, not a big issue to me.

Staff were lovely and Hotel was very clean. The location was exceptional. We found soft drinks very expensive.

There was a terrible smell of sour drains in foyer. It was there for the whole of our stay. That really was the only negative feeling we had about the hotel.

Location is very central, extremely convenient. Breakfast was very good, fruits have been delicious, all breakfast options were very fresh and tasty. Staff is extremely nice, always smiling. Room was very clean and comfortable, bed very comfy, my room was overlooking the side street and not the Republique and it was quiet. Water being complimentary is simply great, and they always check and refill if needed. In summary, lovely stay.

All was good

Great hotel in the centre of Lyon that is close to all the bars and restaurants you might need. The parking is valet parking and the team members who take the car are super helpful - Samuel, thanks. We had a view of the square, ate a great meal in a traditional Lyonnaise restaurant nearby and slept peacefully. The hotel is super clean, it has great decor and a fabulous, traditional lift.

If I am being picky the only thing i could find fault with is the fact that we were close to the hotels neon sign so perhaps a curtain on the batheroom window? For some reason we couldn't access the shutters.

All great hotels have great rooms and the Hotel Carlton gave us just that. But, it's the hotel staff that almost always makes THE difference. We were welcomely greeted and provided with information about getting a late night meal, which is not easy to come by in France on a Sunday night. In the bar, Guillaume made us two of the best Old Fashioneds we had ever tasted any where in the world (believe me, we've sampled a lot of them) and offered up some great conversation. The hotel is an easy walk from everything. And, our bonus: after a week traveling around France we finally had a shower that you could turn around in! Highly recommended.
