Hotel des Celestin sits right in the heart of the city center, offering a unique and charming stay. It’s a quaint hotel that feels cozy and welcoming, almost like a home away from home. The staff is efficient and attentive, ensuring a smooth experience. One thing to note—the entrance is a bit unusual, as the hotel shares the building with others, so you’ll need to be buzzed in upon arrival. If you're traveling with someone, I’d recommend skipping the standard room, as it's quite small. The biggest advantage of staying here is the unbeatable location—you can walk to everything, with the metro just a few blocks away. Make sure to take advantage of the metro to explore the city more easily!

The rooms are really small, so if you are couple, you shouldn't book standard room.

We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel experience - so much so that it contributed greatly to our overall wonderful impressions of Lyon. Critical to the experience were the warm and helpfulness of the staff, but especially of the owner who greeted us at breakfast and made time to chat with us despite the demands of a busy hotel. Our previous experiences with hotels in France have been mixed, so this was a very pleasant and welcome experience. We are already planning our return to this special gem of a hotel with a real family-feel to it.

Great little hotel, great staff, sweet traditional European hotel breakfast set-up l, very convenient location - all was really great. The rooms were very clean and nicely appointed. We will certainly stay here again if/when we travel to Lyon again.

Again, the rooms were clean and well appointed, however, ours were a bit small. They were still comfortable and we saw that the adjacent rooms were larger so next time we would probably book those. We will certainly stay here again if/when we travel to Lyon again.

This small hotel, had friendly staff, great location and a lovely breakfast. Had a small lift. We were upgraded to a suite which was nice. Restaurants and bars close by. We were able to walk to various sights. Wish we could have styed longer than one night. Highly recommended.

Someone looking for a bigger hotel with more facilities would be disappointed but for a smaller boutique style hotel it had everything we needed for our one night stay.

Very centrally located. Easy access to shopping, transportation, restaurants and various sights.

There was nothing that I didn’t particularly like. The property is an older property/historic building but the rooms are functional and modern. The only general gathering area is the reception/ breakfast area; however as mentioned it’s an older building that using the space very functionally.

I had a courtyard room which allowed a lot of light in. The towels were nice and fluffy. Staff were welcoming, helpful and kind. The location surprised me. It’s surrounded by the upscale shopping district! I found a nice, casual, reasonable around the corner, too, for lunch and dinner.

They didn’t provide a face cloth. Luckily, I bring my own since I prefer washing with one. And the room would be small for more than one person or if you plan to remain in the room a lot.

Fantastic location, friendly staff, effective air conditioning. Would definitely recommend for a stay in Lyon, especially for easy access to Vieux Lyon and the metro.

The room was quite small, and a shelf made it physically difficult to get round to the other side of the bed. The breakfast was ok but the options were a little bit limited.

The staff were lovely - helpful, kind and accommodating. They all spoke English. The hotel is old fashioned with real opening windows and a great atmosphere (I hope no one tries to change it) The bed was extremely comfortable. The location was very quiet yet centrally located . The hotel and room was spotlessly clean.

Access to the hotel was slightly confusing.

The hotel is classic old French style in a great location. The receptionist, Marjorie, was wonderfully helpful, providing an orientation via maps, recommendations and held with dinner reservations. She also helped download train tickets after an email SNAFU. The owner was also engaging, a world traveler and photographer - we traded tales. Our room was small, but adequate. The AC was very welcome in Lyon in August. The breakfast included was quite sufficient, though not extensive. The location is just across the river from the old city, near the funicular to the hilltop basilica and Roman theaters, and a short walk from the beau arts museum.

We were very happy here in the style of an older era. It is not slick in a modern sense, but it was just what we were looking for.

The room was small but comfortable and very quiet. There were plenty of convenient plug sockets. Reception staff were very helpful and accommodating. Shower pressure was excellent. The old town and Presqu'ile were within 10 minutes walk, very convenient.

Breakfast was quite expensive for a limited selection of meats, cheeses and pastries. There was the option of a boiled egg if you wanted something hot. There was no view from our room, just a wall outside.
