Location is really close to the main train station (and the cathedral). Although the area around the train station is a bit chaotic the hotel itself is in a relatively quiet area. The river is about a block away too. A short walk along the river takes you to the more touristy areas and if you walk a little bit further you end up at the Lindt Museum. The room was fantastic. I'm not sure if there was an issue with the room we had booked but there was some delay at check in and when we received our room it was MUCH larger than anticipated, so we may have been upgraded a bit? Would not recommend breakfast as it was incredibly expensive. MUCH cheaper to just go to a nearby bakery or cafe and have something to eat there. We did have one dinner at the restaurant and it was OK.

Breakfast is unreasonably expensive. Think it was 30euros? I could never eat that amount of money's worth of food for breakfast. The spa / gym area seemed a bit like a dungeon and was not very welcoming.

The hotel was more expensive than we had planned but as soon as we got into the room we realised it was worth every penny. The breakfast was amazingly good. Couldn't think of anything missed there, just every type of food you could wish for and and an on-hand chef ready to cook anything you wanted how you wanted. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and what is more they came across as genuinely helpful and friendly. We asked if we could store our luggage on the last day for six hours and they were happy to do so in their dedicated locked storeroom without any charge. When we looked around the city and saw some of the hotels that were only a little cheaper we realised how lucky we were to have booked the Marriott. It truly was on a whole different level. Will always consider the Marriott from now on.

Nothing, everything was excellent.

The location was the primary reason the I stayed here. My husband became ill while we were on vacation, and ended up in the hospital just a few blocks from here. It was so convenient to be just a short walk away from there to be with him, as much as needed. The proximity to the train station was also a plus. The staff was also very accommodating when I needed to have some documents printed and some computer assistance. Also, they were understanding of my need to reserve the room for just a few days, then extending a day or 2 at a time, due to the uncertainty of his discharge date. Breakfast was wonderful!

The bathtub seemed very dangerous to me. It was slippery, with no bath mat or a textured bottom. Also, it was a high step to get in & out; without the grab bar, I would have felt very unsafe, and even with it, it was uncomfortable. The bath faucets were very hard to figure out how to divert the water to the shower head...maybe brief instructions on the vanity would be helpful. Maybe they are common here, but I had never seen anything like them in my home country or other travels.

Location is very good. Wifi worked without any problems. Kingsize bed was really comfortable. Room was spacious.

Check-in took 20 minutes in total. In the beginning they said they are not able to offer a "double bed", despite our reservation. When we said it is not acceptable, it took another 10 minutes for them to work on it and come with an offer of 2 days of breakfasts instead of doible bed. We rejected the offer and after another 5 minutes they confirmed that they can give us a room with double bed. But overall we had to wait for 20 minutes standing to check-in, meanwhile noone offered us to take a seat and/or have a drink. It was really annoying after a long train journey to Cologne.

I really liked the location of the Marriott Cologne – it’s just a one-minute walk from the city center. The hotel is generally clean, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. However, there are a few things I’d like to point out that I didn’t particularly enjoy. Bathrobes and slippers are not available in the room by default. You need to request them, and they are brought up to the room upon demand. In the evening hours, due to a reduced number of staff, it can be difficult to reach someone and you might need to call multiple times to get what you need. The hotel’s cleanliness deserves a 10 out of 10, but I found the toilet brush being left out in the open quite unhygienic. The minibar is empty, which means you have to go down to the lobby to purchase items and bring them back up to your room. For a five-star hotel, I found this level of self-service quite disappointing and not very comfortable. Having stayed at other five-star hotels before, I don’t feel that the service here meets the expected five-star standards. Due to its proximity to the city center, I might consider staying here again, overlooking some of the issues I mentioned above. That being said, I still want to thank the entire team for their helpfulness and friendly attitude.

Location is 10/10. All staffs were kind and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable. Really enjoyed breakfast and the bar.

It was very warm and humid in Köln when we were staying, but the air conditioner in the room did not make it much cooler as it was very old one. Also, they charged 100euro of deposit when we checked in, which was never mentioned anywhere, and it has been 5days since I checked out but I still haven't received it back.

It was spacious, clean and very close to the main city. We couldn’t use other facilities like fitness , health club etc. as we were only there for 1 night. They were able to accommodate late checkin ( we arrived midnight). Even breakfast was great. They were able to help with showing the places to visit and things to do in Cologne city.

Nothing much, but couple of points to note. 1. We asked for a room with a standing shower instead of bath tub, as we went with 2 elderly persons with difficulty in mobility. It couldn’t be arranged as the staff told they do t have large rooms with shower instead, I have to book one additional room. 2. Alternatively we asked for no -slippery mats, which they promised to provide and will keep them in the room, but were not there. 3. Car parking access is not easy, but receptionist was kind to explain the way.

The breakfast is great 👍. Lots of variety. The hotel is in a good location with lots of places to eat. The Cologne Train station and Cathedral are very close within walking distance. The staffs are friendly and helpful and engaging The place is very neat 👌. The bed is comfy room is large and cosy. Had a quiet and good rest . Lots of goodies in the room . Safe for your contents. Lots of things to enjoy, gym, bar etc. I will come back again. !!

Only the shower pressure was low but they said they will look at it . Apart from this, it is a great place to stay

We had an unexpected and unique welcome upon reaching our hotel door. Thought it was a crime scene with yellow tape placed as a big “X” on our door. Upon entering, we were totally greeted with a unique decor . Almost thought we were in the wrong room and there was a dead body in it. But it was zany and the staff even wrote us a welcome card and gave us macarons as a welcome gift. Everything in the room was well laid out, spacious and quite unique. We were well provided with water , good pillows and the breakfast spread was very good.

The location was a good 1.2km walk in the freezing and wet cold to the Grand Place. Not many interesting restaurants or shops nearby.

Comfortable, spacious rooms. Good health club.

1. We had 2 rooms with 3 persons (1 adult and 2 children) per room (parents + 4 kids). It was explained to us that we couldn´t be on the same floor - ok. The elevator demanded the room key to go up to one´s floor. So at one point I asked this young woman at the reception if my key could enable me to reach both floors, especially since one of my sons who was staying in his mother´s room (other floor than mine) was sick, vomiting etc. She simply said no, that it´s not allowed. Unreasonable and rigid and unkind. 2. The keys would work for like one day, then would stop working in the elevators and to open the rooms. We had to keep asking for new keys. 3. parking is very expensive
