The staff were the highlight of my stay at Eigelstein. They were very kind and always asked if everything was alright. On my last day when I had to check out early, they had even packed a snack for my train journey to carry with me. It's a small, but cozy hotel with a very helpful location. The room was very clean and well ventilated. I also liked that breakfast was included in my stay. One thing to keep in mind is that there is no elevator, so if you are on the top floor with very heavy bags, it might be slightly challenging.

location - close to main train station and the cathedral, staff very nice and friendly, good breakfast, room was clean and comfortable - The room I was staying in was facing the back of the building, not the front, so it was quiet during the night.

There's no lift but i was aware of this. Wifi in my room wasn't working on my laptop, just on my phone. Probably because it was the last floor.

Excellent location- 25 min walk to the zoo/botanical gardens, 25 min walk the other way to the Lindt chocolate factory, 5-10 min walk to the cathedral, 5 min walk to the train station. Staff- both staff were lovely. Past reviews stated staff don’t speak English- but you are in Germany so I think that is to be expected. I tried to speak a little german(badly) but we had good communication they were extremely welcoming and friendly so don’t let that put you off. If in doubt use the translation app on your phone. Breakfast- selection of cold meat and cheese, croissants etc. coffee tea and orange juice. I would say you expect this from a small hotel and it was All nice. Room- very very spacious room, comfy beds, windows opened out far so you can people watch. Comfy rooms good value I would say from what you would pay. I would definitely stay here again it’s a little gem!!

Great value for money hotel around a 5min walk from cologne Central railway station. Breakfast was reasonable (bread with cheese and variety of cured meats), fruit, pastries. The hotel is on a great street with a variety of restaurants from Turkish (mangal restaurant), Vietnamese (hoai viet) and dessert shops. 3 min walk to breslauer platz subway Station. 7 min walk to cologne cathedral

There is no lift do have to carry luggage up and down several flights of stairs. Although not an issue for me as I use earplugs, the proximity to the train station and street may be noisy for some

Very reasonably priced, nice and close to the station and the centre, and the staff were very obliging.

Some features of the room were a bit tired looking and the street was quite busy with people late into the evening, but ear plugs were provided just in case and it didn't stop me sleeping pretty well (without the plugs!) .

The staff were so friendly, helpful and thoughtful. The breakfast was good and with many options. It was no trouble to leave my luggage for a few hours before taking the train. The room was large and comfortable with lots of light. Quiet too as it was at the back of the hotel, away from the street. Central location only around 6 minutes easy walk from Köln Hbf.

A few steep steps to get up to Reception ha ha.

When i checked in the girl at the reception desk (Violetta) was lovely and cheery, which, brightened up my day after enduring a very, very, long and rainy journey, my room was fine, as were the facilities inside it, so no complaints from me there.. The breakfast was good enough to keep me going for quite a few hours, it was quite tasty too.. I will say that this hotel isn`t a palace, but it is a handy place to stay within a short walk from the main station..

The weather, hahaha.. The stairs were a problem for me, although when i was leaving a different lady working at the reception helped me get down the stairs with my luggage, which was a great help, and a wee bit embarrassing for me, but it was a lovely thing for her to do..

Good location, great friendly staff, good breakfast (not a huge variety of meals, but the hotel is quite small therefore OK), clean rooms. A lot of shops and restaurants (all value for money) nearby.

A bit noisy outside, especially Friday evening & night, perhaps will hard to sleep with open windows. Also, not accessible with wheelchair or stroller (stairs to 1st floor without elevator)
