Convenient location, clean and quiet. Good value. Reasonably sized rooms.

Checkin afternoon reception staff member was not at all friendly. The person on duty in the morning was very pleasant. Breakfast IMO was not to the standard I expected for the cost. Hot foods had been out since breakfast started and not hot anymore nor appetising. I realise it's hard to cater to a small number of guests and have satisfactory food available for a few hours, but it could have been managed better.

This accommodation offers excellent value for money. It had everything we needed for a short and comfortable stay. The room was well-equipped and highly functional. The check-in process was quick and seamless. Despite being located directly across from the main train station, the rooms were remarkably soundproof — we stayed on the 4th floor and were never disturbed by any noise. However, friends staying on the 5th floor mentioned hearing train sounds and experiencing slight vibrations from passing trains. Everything was spotless and impeccably clean. The location is fantastic, just a three-minute walk from the train station and within easy reach of the city center. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout our stay, and the heating in the room worked perfectly — we especially appreciated being able to lower it a bit for added comfort.

A kettle in the room would have been a nice addition. Friends staying on the 5th floor mentioned hearing train sounds and experiencing slight vibrations from passing trains. Additionally, the lack of sockets near the bed was slightly inconvenient.

The room was a nice size for a city centre hotel and very clean. The bathroom and shower were all clean and modern. Breakfast was extra but very nice indeed and worth the price. The staff were all friendly and very pleasant. The location was perfect which is why I chose it in the first place.

I did not find anything I didn't like about this hotel. I have a lot of experience in staying at City Centre Hotels and understand that there are constraints to running a Hotel in such places. I though this hotel dealt with it all very well and would like to stay there again when I get the chance.

Location is great. Literally a 5 minute walk from the train station and cathedral. Clean hotel. Friendly and helpful staff and great value for money. They let you keep your belongings in the luggage room for free after you check out also, which is handy because it is so close to the train station so you don't have to carry heavy luggage around all day. They also have a fridge in the room.

Nothing, everything was great i had a wonderful experience

Great location, very convenient for the train station. Hotel is very clean and beds were very comfy. We didn't have any breakfast, so I can't comment on that. Would book this hotel again if we went back to Cologne.

Our room was on the fourth floor and it was very hot. Luckily we were able to open the window. A fan in the room would have been nice though as it is somewhat noisy outside which is to be expected in this part of town.

Very near to Cologne central station, about 5 mins walk. There are attractions and lots of cafes and restaurants near and within central station. The hotel is clean and comfortable although it is old. The hotel provides free luggage locker service.

The bathroom sewage choke when having shower. Need to do some maintenance.

The Merian hotel is located very close to the central station of Cologne and every major attraction is in a walking distance from it. The room was quite comfortable.

The cleaning service could be improved. Our room wasn’t vacuumed at all during our stay. Replacing the windows with soundproof ones would reduce the noise from the busy road. The cattle was also not very clean, so we avoided using it to boil water for tea.

Nice, Clean Hotel. Really good location. Roughly 5 minute walk from the train station and 15-20 minute walk to the docks & area where there are shops, bars and restaurants.

Only issue was that the rooms were very warm at night (we were there at the end of July. There was no AC and the fan in the room only blew hot air.

Next to the Hauptbahnhof. Room was large and clean, excellent shower. Staff were all lovely. Breakfast was lovely.

Best stay I've had in Cologne, they checked me in early and I could do a one hour late checkout free of charge, staff is wonderful. Will only stay here in the future. Location and services for the price are fantastic
