The Sendlinger subway station is a few minutes away from the hotel. Hotel Rio is at the bottom end of a huge outdoor pedestrian mall that extends roughly northward directly into Marienplatz- a beautiful square that leads into a plethora of bars and restaurants. There are countless stores of all types along the way. It is a safe and very pleasant area, but expensive. The hotel staff are excellent, the room was small but suited our purposes. The bed was very comfortable. The famous Haufbrauhaus is easily reached by walking and a must for 1st time tourists - but don't go there for the food -- it's about history, atmosphere, and fun. The subway system is excellent - on par with those of some of the great cities in the world. You can reach almost anywhere and is easily understandable.

The room was small and without a coffee maker. The buffet breakfasts had simple offerings that were too expensive. We went to the cafes minutes away.

Hotel Mio by Amano is a great hotel located in the core of Munich’s city center. You will be able to walk to just about everything notable in Munich from here (or a very quick U bahn train ride of just a few stations at most). The hotel is about a ten minute walk from Marienplatz station (which has a direct train connection to Munich Airport). The hotel is probably a 2 minute walk to the Sendlinger Tor U bahn station which connects to numerous lines in Munich. So between the two, you can get to where you need to go easily. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. They have quality hand soap, body wash and shampoo in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. One thing we did not like about the room was the nightly reset of the air conditioner settings. The air conditioner itself was working well but it seems to reset to the default settings every night around sunset time. This is presumably an environmentally and financially friendly feature for the hotel. However, it led to the temperature being uncomfortable for us for our first night there because we were unaware that our cooler settings were wiped away. We should have double checked before heading to sleep but didn’t realize we needed to. The lobby area is cool and chic looking. Under the hotel is a Rewe grocery store which offers a very large selection of items at highly affordable prices. In our three nights in Munich, we probably bought something from the Rewe four times. There are plenty of restaurant options within a 10 minute or less walking radius. About 10 minutes walk away is the famous Viktualimarket with many different food vendors.

The hotel upgraded us to a slightly larger room, which was much appreciated. Hotel is in a great location and Munich is such a walkable city. Easy access to Metro, and main attractions. Staff very helpful and friendly, rooms were modern with good facilities/bed/tv/wi-fi. Excellent breakfast and a nice bar for an evening drink. Good security in the hotel.

A slight delay with room cleaning on a Sunday, but that was no big deal. A lovely stay overall

Excellent location and great stay! The hotel is in an amazing location — just a short 5-7 minute walk to Marienplatz, the central square in Munich. It’s also very close to train stations, all within easy walking distance. The area feels safe, located on a pedestrian street with plenty of shops and cafes around. The staff was very polite and helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Munich!

The only downside was that the room was quite small and felt a bit cramped — there wasn't much space to open our suitcases comfortably.

So pleased we chose this hotel. We have stayed in Munich many times. And this is by far the best hotel. The location is perfect. You are 5 minutes walk from Marienplatz and 30 minutes from the English garden. Lovely staff and delicious breakfast. The bar is very chilled. Excellent drink choice. Very reasonable prices. Suggest you upgrade to king room. Not too much more and worth it for the extra space.

We stayed here during our honeymoon for 2 nights. This is very well located hotel, with Marienplatz only a short walk away and it is situated on an active high street with a wide variety of shops and cafes. It is also only a few doors down from the beautiful Asamkirche. The hotel is nicely furnished: the bar, lobby, and cafe area are all comfortable and relaxing spaces. The bar is well stocked, and the service is prompt and helpful. It has a nice variety of seating options to suit different vibes. Our favourites were the window seats. The room was clean and comfortable. Decoration was functional but pleasant.

Excellent breakfast quality and selection. Hotel is spotlessly clean. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Beautifully decorated spaces. Location could not be more central, only minutes walking distance from great shops, monuments, and train/metro stations while also being very quiet given it is set on a pedestrian street.

We were initially given a room that looked to the hotel's atrium. It was decorated in dark colors and didn't have a lot of natural sunlight (other than that, the room was amazing). But we wanted more light, so we asked to be moved. They very politely changed our room, and we got a beautifully lit, bright room.

The location is absolutely perfect! There was room service everyday, which made sure the room was always spotless. The staff is kind and helpful. The main reception area and bar are stunning. I’m definitely coming back if I’m ever back to Munich. One of the best hotels we have stayed.

Just a small thing - my husband had requested for my bday celebration by paying extra. They decorated the room beautifully, with chocolates macarons etc. just the chocolate cake tasted stale and we couldn’t eat it at all. Not sure if the bakery was the issue or the hotel gave us a bad cake.

This hotel is in an ideal location for exploring the city. It has all the main facilities needed and the room was clean and functional. The shower is good and the bed comfortable. The room temperature was acceptable even though it is not possible to change the temperature. Breakfast was close to ideal, with a wide range of food types available. The hotel is very close to an underground station to get anywhere around the city, and only around 15mins walk to the pickup point for the tour buses.

The room rate was extremely expensive for this type of room and the size of the room. It is at least twice the rate I would normally pay especially during a non-holiday or event period. The bathroom extractor fan did not seem to work, so bad smells and humidity tended to hang around for many hours. They served poor quality decaffeinated coffee at breakfast.

Funky, cool, exceptional location, friendly and helpful staff, clean room each day, quiet but central.

Online check in and out wasn’t working as well as reception staff would have liked (although, they were very helpful). Not sure if we got a double bed as requested, but the bed was split into two singles across one divided frame (hard to describe), which wasn’t the end of the world - just something to be wary of.
