Staff were very helpful & friendly & also recommended great local restaurant (Mezze, Athens) that didn't disappoint. The room was a good size, clean,the bed was firm & comfortable. I got to meet the hotel owner who apologised for the refurbishment works that were being carried out in the reception lobby area, his staff & the contractors were polite & accommodating in making sure that guests could still negotiate their way in & out the hotel without coming to harm. I asked why the price was so appealing & he replied that it was a quieter time of year for business. The breakfast choice was also great with both hot & cold food which was comparable to that of bigger hotels that I've stayed in. This hotel ticked all the boxes & ideal for a city break & literally 2- 3 minutes walk from the Metro & 1 minute from Syntagma Square, 5 - 10 minutes walk from Plaka & Monistiraki. I would definately stay here again.

There wasn't anything not too like.

The location is excellent, right around the Syntagma Square. Easy to reach from the airport just by metro. Nice neighbourhood that's alive always. Only downside was bathroom was a little small and there was a shower curtain instead of a cabin. But it wasn't bad and the shower was a decent size and was really comfortable. There was instant hot water. Room had everything needed, adequate walking space, a safe, water boiler and a mini fridge. The breakfast was not perfect but it was enough. The hotel had a rooftop but it was closed due to renovations (at least it what they told us). Some can be bothered by noises but I didn't think it was so bad.

Hotel was clean with great location. Reception staff was welcoming and very helpful; they will not hesitate to help you if you'll have any questions about visiting some places in the city and will advice you the best options.

Bathroom in our room was small and it was difficult to close the door once you were in the bathroom (as it was opening inside). But the shower was ok, not very small. I guess there were other rooms with larger bathrooms, but maybe they were expensive or intended for more people in the room; while our room was for 2. Breakfast was so-so, choice was very basic. You could find something to eat, but without much varieties.

Very practical, simple, comfortable and very clean. The location was the absolute best. So convenient for taking a stroll basically everywhere. It is a walking distance from all the known sights in Athens, there is no need to use local traffic at all, if you like to walk. Also, the X95 buss to and from the airport is 2 min walk from the hotel. 5,5€ There are also plenty of great restaurants just outside of the hotel. The breakfast has most of the basics. For the three star hotel, it absolutely fulfilled all of my expectations and more. I highly recommend it.

You have to have great earplugs while staying here. They even put a pair for you in the room <3 (thank you). But if you are aware of this and have great, comfortable earplugs with you, it is absolutely no issue.

The location is great, very close to Syntagma Square (where the airport bus stop is, ideal if you have very early/late flights), shopping street, and main tourist attractions. The staff is nice. The room is clean and quite spacious. Standard breakfast.

The noise! I could hear the elevator going up and down, people in the corridor, and the housekeepers in the storage room (which was next to my room).

The location is truly exceptional. Nothing can beat that, it is so easy to walk to anything and to the Metro station. You can do shopping and sight seeing and go back to the room to unload, rest a little and start again. It is next to my favorite central restaurant in Athens. It is ideal!!! Breakfast was adequate, staff polite. The price was cheap (but I visited in January which is off peak season).

The size of the bathroom was ridiculously small. I did not mind that (the shower was good) but it is impossible to use the wash basin with the door open because it jams access. The toilet sit was bad quality and loosely attached, it creates a bad impression and you can only seat on the toilet sideways because there is no leg space!

It’s an older hotel that has had some refurbishment, mostly in the rooms and breakfast area where it’s important. Our room was tastefully renovated, clean, good layout, and exactly as expected. Comfy bed and good bathroom overall. The breakfast room was great with a variety of choices both sweet and savoury and plentiful overall. Location is fabulous for exploring the heart of Athens and everything it has to offer. Safe, I liked that there was a reception desk when I needed assistance. Overall good value for money.

This didn’t affect our overall experience however the hotel does need refurbishment of its front entrance. Also, we were on the fourth floor with a great view of the city. The windows open up completely and this could be a safety issue if you have young children. As I said none of this affected our stay. I would definitely stay here again for the value for money for sure.

Wonderful location and so close to the buzzing streets and Syntagma Square. Breakfast room very unhurried with a good selection of food and some helpful recommendations by the nice gentleman who looked after guests there. I had the wonderful roof terrace to myself on both mornings and enjoyed the spectacular view of the Acropolis that it presents. Truly a wonder and a great selling point for the Arethusa Hotel. I needed to check out earlier than planned and I found the reception staff and manager so helpful and concerned about this. They were keen to offer me a quieter room, but I needed to visit my friends in Glyfada who, incidentally, had originally wanted me to stay with them for my entire visit to Athens. Indeed, they came in to accompany me on both days and I was due to visit them and drive down the coast to Sounion on Day 3, so it made sense to accept their offer at this point. They are nearer the airport too and they drove me there on Sunday morning. All this detail, by the way, to assure readers that my experience with the Arethusa Hotel and staff was extremely positive! Greeks are such nice people in my limited experience - Thank you all. Best wishes!

The streets didn't quieten down until after 2am, so I didn't get to sleep until after that time. I'm a night owl anyway, so that wouldn't have bothered me normally, but damn it I woke very early too. My problem, my insomnia. First morning 6:30 am but no complaints - after all I'm in ATHENS - and I've been awake at the crack of dawn in far inferior places I assure you! However, I would have liked an earlier night that night, but the city wanted to stay up so same story again with late sleep and early awakening! (I use earplugs too as it happens). I'm laying the blame here on my own blasted insomnia, by the way. When I'm at home in Ireland I need the entire village to be gone to bed before I attempt to sleep!

the breakfast was very good, the location is amazing, the staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable.

rooms need a little modernizing; the tv is old and small for today's standards, and the sound isolation is not good: we could hear the functionaning of airconductinigns/heating, or something through the conducts, all night long.

Location was great with Plaka just a stone’s throw away, lots of restaurants and shopping. Metro and bus terminal was a short 3-5mins walk away. You can take bus X95 €5.5/pax direct to the airport. 👍. They have a good spread for breakfast and Maria was helpful and all smiles :). The rooms have good Air-conditioning which was important in the hot summer heat; and it was big and spacious. They provided hot water kettle with coffee & tea & 2 bottles water. The toilet was a bit of a squeeze but shampoo & body wash and even a commode shower chair was available. The toilet paper was lovely with blue flower prints in 3-4ply. Highly recommended hotel to stay.

Toilet a little small. No English channels on TV.
