We only stayed for one night on our way from Kalymnos to the airport, but Sokratis treated us to a warm welcome and goodbye as though we were guests who had stayed regularly and for a week or two. The apartment is homely, spacious and well equipped. Powerful shower and refurbished bathroom. We particularly liked having 2 balconies so we could choose our view (gardens or the field with chickens and chicks) and either sit in sun or shade whatever the time of day. It's a warm walk from the harbour with bags, but for us the country side position on the edge of the village is ideal. Thank you so much. Σας θα δουμε του χρονου!

The apartments are in a great location, five minutes from two pool bars, a supermarket and then a little walk to the beach and main village. Socrates, his family and staff are very welcoming and friendly. The room was big and had extra touches that we were not expecting (slippers, toiletries, tissues, washing up liquid) along with hairdryer, iron, ironing board, free safe and air conditioning. The bar area and outside area were great. The breakfast was amazing, starting with bread, pastries/cake, jams, etc, followed by an egg dish, and finished with either yoghurt/honey/fruit or some days pancakes. I had booked 13 nights instead of 14, Socrates sorted an extra night for us. We also hired a car from him at reasonable rates. On the next to last night my husband had a fall, Socrates came out to collect us and applied first aid. Nothing is too much trouble to ensure you have a greatcsray. Highly recommended

There was nothing that I would change

We have stayed with Sokratis once before, but this time we arrived very early. The wind forecast meant we caught the ferry from Kalymnos which arrived at 7.45am, I had messaged Sokratis who said that it wasn't a problem our bags could stay in reception. As it turned out, we were offered breakfast on arrival (excellent value for 7 euros each) and they prepared our room for 9am! Old style Greek comfortable studios, well thought out with everything you need (even if you stay longer than one night). Our preferred stopover in Mastichari.

The walk up from the port is no problem without bags - it was around 28 degrees at 8am so it was literally a bit of a drag with the bags!

The friendly warm welcome we received reminded us of why we first fell in love with Greece. This property was in a quiet location just outside the town of Masti Chari but within easy walking distance of bars and restaurants. The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped if you were self catering and we were told we were welcome to sit in the lounge dining area with our own food or takeaway and relax with company. On noticing my husband had mobility issues the owners didn’t hesitate to offered us a lift to the restaurant of our choice telling us to phone them for a lift back afterwards. We took advantage of the offer of breakfast which exceeded expectation and was substantial. Once again we were offered a lift to the harbour for our ongoing journey.

Nothing was too much trouble. Sokratis was very helpful with the information, the transfer, the organisation of the trip as out of season. He also baked us a fish I got from a lovely local fisherman Pedro. Lovely breakfasts from the both Felicia and Sokratis. Nice, quiet location close to the beach. Gorgeous sunsets. If you are after the pool and arrive out of season, check with the host as it may be closed, as many places, which I actually I enjoyed, it was blisfully peacful and quiet. Horseriding, the sunsets and the forest where absolute highlights, the island is a paradise for hikers. Thank you so much, me and Kalinka had a great time!

We arrived late at night and Sokratis was waiting for us with the warmest of welcomes we’ve ever experienced, and a much needed welcome drink. Our apartment was spacious and spotlessly clean, had everything we needed including an iron and a hairdryer. The breakfasts were delicious and filled you for the day. We hired a car from Sokratis and he spent time with us helping to plan the best places to visit on this beautiful island. Sokratis and all the staff were warm and welcoming at all times to all their guests,, making everybody feel at home. We spoke to other guests that have been visiting for years and we can totally understand why they come back as the service is exceptional. We hope to come back ourselves someday!

What a fantastic host Sokratis is. We arrived at 9.30pm, checked in, popped our luggage in the room, then headed to the bar for a complementary drink. A, much appreciated, Mythos for my husband and a G&T for me. We were made to feel very welcome and there was a lovely atmosphere on the terrace, lots of regulars, and it was obvious that Sokratis is highly thought of. We stayed for a few more drinks then headed back to our room. We had a beautiful (newly finished?) bathroom, two single beds in the kitchen area, two single beds in the bedroom, two terraces, each with a table and chairs. Everything has been carefully thought out, a generous selection of toiletries, insect repellent plug in, washing up liquid, a sponge scourer, etcetera. The breakfast was an amazing three courses… table service, a selection of bread, cakes and biscuits, fried eggs served with bacon and herbs, yogurt with chopped fruit, coffee and fruit juice. Exactly what we needed to set us up for the start of our island hopping. We walked to the port - a very short walk - where Sokratis met us with our luggage that he’d brought down in the car. Greek hosting at its absolute best.

A very charming family-run hotel. The rooms are very clean and spacious, and the breakfast is excellent. The owner, Sokratis, is very accommodating and friendly, as is the other staff. You can rent a car at the hotel for a very reasonable price. The town of Mastichari is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel, where you’ll find excellent restaurants and beautiful sunsets. Stay just as wonderful as you are — see you again! Luka

Ilios and Irene was as good - if not better - than on our last visit. Sokratis was the perfect host (and a gentleman!) who couldn't do more to make us feel at home. He now offers very good value car hire (with safe cars!) and airport/port transfers. The apartments have everything you need except a TV ... and these days you don't really need one if you have a tablet or computer ... and with two terraces or two balconies depending on which floor you are on, you can relax in the sun or in the shade. The bar is well-stocked and where do I begin to mention Sokratis' breakfasts ... delicious, fresh, copious and a delight to wake up to! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR A WONDERFUL STAY - we look forward to coming back.

We only stayed at the hotel for one night, arriving very late in the evening, but were warmly welcomed by our host Sokrates, who even offered us a welcome drink. The breakfast was generous, varied, and delicious. The room itself was simple in style, but had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Overall, a short but very pleasant experience
