Themed place, very interesting to walk around - like in a museum.

Booking said "landmark view", but the view was to the construction and somebody's yard. Construction started quite early in the morning - not unreasonably, but do not expect to sleep in. There was a balcony accessible to anybody from the corridor, which then allowed them to see into the room close to the window. People kept going there being loud and the door did not isolate any noise. The bathroom had only one dim light above the sink and you had to close the door while showering not to set the alarm off - so forget about seeing well when showering.

The hotel was absolutely incredible—like something out of a dream! I’ve truly never seen anything like it. Every detail felt like a masterpiece of imagination, and it completely elevated our time in Iceland. It wasn’t just a place to stay—it was an experience in itself. And the staff? Genuinely outstanding. They went above and beyond in every way, making us feel welcomed, cared for, and truly special. Our trip wouldn’t have been the same without it!

I booked a twin room in the themed main hotel for myself and my adult son, so we were surprised to be placed in a smaller, shed-like room with a double bed and a single bunk above. It wasn’t quite what we expected or ideal for two adults. That said, the room was still very nicely designed, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was truly unique. Most importantly, the staff were excellent—helpful, friendly, and really made us feel welcome. Their service helped balance out the initial disappointment.

I really liked the Viking theme, hence why I booked here. Hotels just are all cookie-cutter and unmemorable, and this was really nice without being over the top. I believe I booked a room, but we were given a cottage, which was fine. I especially liked the restaurant on-site. The waitress we had was a little terse, but the singing Viking made up for it in entertainment and personality. The food was really good too (fish and chips and I had the burger). The wandering Viking made a point of visiting all guests and asking where they are from and playing a little tune. We also witnessed a Viking 'swearing in'. It was a neat spot and would totally stay again!

The waitress, when we entered asked if we had a 'reservation'..we did not as we did not know our arrival time so we winged it..they had a few groups and were busy, but there were empty tables. She sighed and did seat us and proceeded to not be very friendly (I don't think part of the 'act'). But maybe was tired..not sure. It wasn't' enough to send us packing. The food, atmosphere and the wandering Viking made up for it. As guests of the hotel, it would have been unfortunate had we been sent away.

Its a gorgeous little harbour with a lovely small shopping centre very close and the hotel has a hot tub although a swimming pool is close also. Busses to Reykjavik go from outside the shopping centre (2 minute walk). The hotel is warm, friendly and the staff very helpful. Its cosy and the breakfast is delicious.

It's a bit out of Reykjavik but some tour companies still pick up from there. You escape the concrete jungle of Reykjavik but the bus in takes 30 mins'ish and they go every 30 mins. If you hire a car it might be a great option.

Cute and fun Viking theme at this hotel. The breakfast room was highly decorated. Breakfast buffet was abundant and delicious. Our room was clean and spacious. There was a lounge area in the hallway outside our room door. Elevator was very helpful. The staff was friendly and helpful. Good location for visiting Reykjavik if you have a car. They are building a new room annex, so there was a lot of construction. Should be really nice when it is finished. Nice harbor location. Restaurant on site.

Nightstands by the bed would have been useful.

First of all, this is a great location for a first or last night in Iceland. If you take Flybus, it's a direct bus and this is the first stop. We used Flybus to get to Hafnarfjörður and rhen had our rental car delivered to the hotel the next day (Foss Car Rental). It has a Viking theme which is lots of fun. There are even fish to watch in the breakfast area. The 'cottsge' was good for a family. We liked the hot tub and the restaurant.

Not really a 'dislike', but we a little nervous about our children sleeping in the loft area of the 'cottage' in case they might fall down the ladder in the night. A gate at the top would be reassuring.

Booked double room and twin room. Rooms were clean, bit too warm (we just turned off the radiators). Staff were really friendly and helpful, good choice for breakfast (continental). Restaurant food was delicious, staff were always very helpful and attentive. Hotel is in the process of expansion, so there was some construction noise on a morning, but nothing too disruptive. Only recommendation for the hotel that i would suggest would be to link up with some of the tours as you have to make your way into Reykjavik for coach/minibus pick-up and drop-off.

Our stay at the Hotel Viking in Iceland was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the hotel’s unique themed décor, which beautifully immerses guests in Icelandic Viking culture. The attention to detail, from the traditional wooden carvings to the authentic artifacts, created an unforgettable atmosphere that felt like stepping back in time. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They were always ready with a smile, offering helpful recommendations for local attractions and ensuring we had everything we needed. The blend of historical charm and modern comfort was perfectly balanced. Our room was cozy and clean, and the communal areas offered plenty of spots to relax while soaking in the ambiance. The on-site restaurant was also a highlight, serving delicious traditional Icelandic dishes that added to the overall experience. If you’re looking for a unique and friendly place to stay in Iceland, I wholeheartedly recommend the Hotel Viking. It’s more than just a hotel—it’s an adventure!

The en-suite bathroom lacked heating so was cold, but this is being very picky.

The entire site, building, eating areas, cabins were chock a block with Viking artifacts/art/culture. No matter where you looked, there was something amazing to see. Even the outdoor fish pond was amazing. Breakfast was amazing with quality sourdough bread. Restaurant was great too with a good variety of meals and drinks.

Took 20 minutes for the shower to heat up and it was so tiny I kept bumping my arms. And I'm a small adult. Also, no teaspoons or milk meant I could not make a drink in the teeny, handle-less cups. A guest laundry would have been helpful.

The location and the whole complex of buildings is very nice. You really feel the viking vibes and the restaurant nearby is also really good. Also the breakfest is fantastic. Everything was clean. And you can use the hot tub and the sauna which is a plus.

The bed was really not comfortable. For one night it was ok but longer might have been problematic. Also the room and the bathroom where quite small. Same as the tea cups at the breakfest. After fitting your tea bag there is no more room for water :) And it was not possible to open the window more than a few centimeters.
