Great location, in walking distance of the nature museum and the centre of Reykjavik the host was so kind and really made sure all guests had everything they needed, such as complimentary coffee, towels and even free access to the washing machine and drier. We initially booked two beds in a mixed room but upon arrival we were showed to the all female dormitory, which we really appreciated. The entrance/ common and sitting area were also under video surveillance so it overall felt pretty safe. We did also have the option of locking our room. Toilets and showers seemed newly renovated, though regardless, I would always recommend brining slippers with you if you stay at hostels.

Most furniture was quite worn and dated, beds were a bit squeaky and an appliance in the kitchen was broken. They were really minor things overall.

The place was quite good, especially for center of Reykjavik, 20 min away walking distance, and it’s very close to Perlan Museum(5/6mins). The front man named Fathi was really approachable and super nice person for everyone. He even recommended us which supermarket is cheaper to stock some foods. The room is comfortable. The kitchen was good, and can even wash our clothes. Highly recommended for people who look for a cheaper place. Don’t be choosy or picky since it’s a ‘HOSTEL’ not a HOTEL. Bring your own towels. 5 nights staying in SM Hostel was amazing.

Some tenants did not wash/clean properly the dishes that they had been used.

I stayed at S M Hostel for two days, from May 16th to the morning of May 18th, and I had a truly wonderful experience — all thanks to Youssef. From the moment we arrived until the time we checked out, Youssef provided outstanding customer service. He clearly explained everything we needed to know, engaged us in warm and friendly conversation, and made us feel completely comfortable throughout our stay. He was always available whenever we needed assistance, and often went out of his way to offer help without us even asking. Thank you, Youssef, for looking after us so well and delivering such exceptional service. You made our stay memorable!

Kitchen drawers and fridge are not clean

Excellent staff Fati and Yusuf, comfortable sofas and rugs… a good home area for chilling out, warm and relaxing, a clean and useable kitchen with people to share, warm and separate bedrooms, warm showers, clean toilets and helpful staff with knowledge of local area. Excellent. Mosque is upstairs, helpful for learning or children also.

I had a single bed in a bunk bed but I would have liked a shared double bed perhaps or perhaps mixed in with the men? I ended up staying in the girls room.

Host was extremly nice, provided me with a towel because I forgot to take mine. I arrived pretty late but he was waiting for me and made me tea . The bus stop is near by and if you need to go to bsi it os also pretty close 15min walk I guess. It was very warm in the room even tho temperature was very low. Fridge in a room was a big plus. The hostel is literally on the other side of the same building as mosque, so don’t be surprised, when you see only mosque on google maps - you are going to the right place.

SM Hostel is an affordable and good accomodation with very friendly and helpful staff. It provides plenty of facilities and services, like laundry, at no extra costs unlike most other accomodations in Iceland. It is very close to the city centre and main attractions in Reykjavik.

It was busy and loud at times, which is however pretty normal for every hostel.

Yousef was an absolutely excellent host. He advised me on a great taxi company to come and pick me up when I got stuck in a storm. He made me a cup of tea and introduced me to some people at the hostel who became good friends.

Easy to find, free parking lot, clean place, friendly staff, cheap for Iceland. I think I got the last bed of the night so I felt lucky not sleeping in my car.

Tiny and stuffy room, not comfy, but only needed it to crash after a long drive. I got what I needed out of it for the most part.

The hostel is really good, I was impressed by the exceptional hospitality of the staff especially Mr. Yusuf, he makes sure every guest gets comfortable. I so recommend their place to anyone visiting Iceland
