Good, comfortable room. Beds were a little bit firm for my liking but decent. Stayed on the 4th floor and elevator/lift only went to the 3rd floor. So we had to carry our bags up the stairs. We ate dinner at the restaurant attached to the hotel and it was good. Breakfast was very nice - we both got smoked salmon and eggs. Finished up the night with drinks at the local bar next door.

No fan in the room so it was a little stuffy. The bathroom was fairly big but the tub/shower area was very tight and hard to use. Had to park on the street about a block away and walk to the hotel.

While I enjoyed my stay at The Bosun, with a warm welcome from the friendly staff, I found the property could do with an upgrade. Shabby paintwork, weeds growing in the front garden, and in pots that could be much nicer filled with flowers didn't do the establishment any justice. My room was clean but very small and the bed linen is old and worn out looking. Old fashioned wool blankets are not healthy for anyone! Nice white cotton duvets (not feather) would be much preferable. The food in the bar was good, but expensive. Breakfast was served, which was very well cooked and presented. However, some fresh fruit and yoghurt would have been a nice option.

Shabby bed linen, weeds outside, just needs some love but has great potential

Located by bus 45mins from Cork centre or 20min by taxi, decor lovely & so clean. We arrived at 11am but check in wasn't till 3pm. Martin welcomed us early with iced water & said our room was ready early. We were provided with lots of tea & biscuits plus all the washing essentials. Room was cleaned every day with fresh bedding & towels, even a mint on the pillow! The staff bent over backwards to help us when looking for transport & things to do locally. Beth was an amazing breakfast host & the full Irish breakfast with also the option of salmon with unlimited tea & orange juice was delicious. Then we went to the joined restaurant where we dined on fillet steak & seafood that is the best we ever had! Then when we left were told we were 1 of the nicest people they ever have stay with them. We only came for a short weekend for Michael McIntyre & didnt get to see all we wanted, so we will be back! Cannot thank the staff enough for making our trip so special!

The receptionist was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was a traditional Irish breakfast, excellent and served in a cute dining room. The bed was very comfy. We had a good nights rest after traveling all day. There is a nice walking path which runs next to the river right across the street.

The facilities were a bit dated. Small bathroom, but worked for the two of us. We were only there for one night, so it was perfect. There is a very good restaurant downstairs, which was both convenient and excellent food and service. A local pub right next door has live music, if you're into that. Kinda noisy at night, though.

The adjoining pub had food Breakfast included I see there's a bus stop so I assume there's a bus Good sized and comfortable bed Spotlessly clean. Plenty of supplies Elevator!

The "on site" parking is actually a public car park across the road, not specific to the property. I got lucky both nights but it was very busy on the Saturday. If you are on holiday you will need a car for here. No late breakfast Sunday, 10am a bit early finish for a weekend sitting. Not a lot in the immediate vicinity but that might not be an issue for everyone. Bit pricey for a b&b.

The breakfast was consistently delicious and the service was great. The staff in the restaurant were absolutely fabulous and the food was 5 star! We loved the location of the Bosun but did wish there was more to do in Monkstown.

When we checked in we were given a different room than the one we had booked and paid for online. This mistake was fixed after I questioned it.

Full Irish Breakfast was excellent. Brown bread was delicious and appreciated, since many other hotels B&Bs offer plain or sourdough bread, which is ordinary and obtained anywhere, whereas good brown bread is a treasure we savor!

The small room was very cumbersome for two with baggage, so please provide better means to manage this; please add AC power, or at least USB ports, near each bed’s headboard. Last, though completely out of your control, maintenance noise at the shipyard was loud at such an early morning hour.

The wooden seating outside, easy to sit in, as I have arthritis all over my body, and legs the river in front of it where there was seating also, the breakfast was served to me, it was nice, the Lunch was outstanding, there were shops, and chemists. Near me on the harbor, which I needed, I bought lovely things in the shop, and the man in the shop helped me to dilute the screen wash, for my car, I took the ferry across the river which would need seats for the elderly,

I would like to see shades over the Tables outside,

I recently stayed at the Bosun Hotel in the charming village of Monkstown, just 25 minutes from Cork. This peaceful location is perfect for escaping the city's hustle and bustle. The hotel was very clean, spacious, and comfortable, with friendly staff ensuring a pleasant stay. The area offers a lovely boardwalk and residential neighborhoods, ideal for leisurely exploration and fishing opportunities. Overall, the Bosun Hotel is a fantastic retreat with inviting accommodations and great dining options. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting the Cork area!

Need to have more options for the continental breakfast . Only provided two options .

I stayed as a solo traveller, I ate in the bosun bar food was beautiful & portion were super sized. The bedroom was spacious & perfectly clean. The heating was on and the room was cosy warm. I overslept and missed breakfast, the bed was so comfortable the chef asked if I wanted breakfast but unfortunately I had to go, I will be back soon as I will be travelling for work again. I am delighted I chose the bosun, it’s a home away from home comfort, service with a warm welcome, looking out directly onto cork harbour towards cobh. Just beautiful

Nothing. It exceeded my expectations.
