I loved the feel of the old building. The rooms were majestically decorated and immaculately clean. The grounds were exceptionally beautiful. Felt like we were in the center of a very well maintained park with many different animals. There were bunnies, birds, chickens, ducks, dogs, and pigeons. They were in various pens alongside a beautiful walking path. The view of Cork across the river was spectacular. Lastly, the breakfast was fabulous- all with local food products. Mostly things they grow or raise on the property.
The triple room was a bit small - very tight for three of us. Felt it was a bit pricey for such a small room.

Breakfast at this hotel was actually one of the highlights. They raise the chickens from eggs to lay eggs in turn for your breakfast. The building is over 100 years old but very well maintained. One of the tings I loved most was how quiet this hotel was compared to other places we stayed. You rarely heard that anyone else was staying there. Very nice. The dogs tho, were the icing on the cake. We may special trips down to say high to them. We missed our own dogs immensely so it was really nice to pet all tail-wagging, shedding, real dogs. Just like our labs back home.
There wasn't really anything.

Great location. Impressive building and staircase. Comfy bed and clean room.
Locked out of the property on my final night stay. Key card didn’t work (had happened three times before but thankfully someone at reception always let me in) but this time nobody was on reception. 11.30pm stood on car park hoping to get someone’s attention. My phone was dead so I was stuck. Had to walk back into town to charge my phone in late night bar . Receptionist answered and apologised and met me at door just after midnight. One hour after I had originally tried to go pack and get some rest for an early flight. So annoying .

I recently stayed at this hotel, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! The rooms were not only stylish and cozy but also radiated a unique and inviting atmosphere. The attention to detail in the decor was impeccable, creating a sense of warmth and charm. What truly made my stay magical was how beautifully the hotel was decorated for the holiday season. The Christmas decorations were stunning, creating a festive and enchanting ambiance throughout the property. It felt like stepping into a winter wonderland. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable and cozy getaway with exceptional service, delicious food, and a perfect holiday atmosphere. Can’t wait to return!

The staff were so helpful and friendly & made us feel welcome from the minute we stepped through the front door. The room was perfect size, clean and tidied every day. The breakfast was extremely good value for money, I would definitely recommend adding breakfast to your stay. There is a little pub up the hill from the hotel (5 minute walk) which is lovely too. Lovely little outdoor area to sit when the weather is good.
The location is about a 10 minute walk from the main city- up a steep hill but there are regular buses that go up and down the hill that you can jump on. The train station directly opposite the hotel could be slightly noisy in the mornings but we just closed our windows.

Gabriel House was exceptional. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was bright, airy and comfortable with everything you needed provided for our stay. The garden and patio were an added bonus in the sunshine. The breakfast was delicious and freshly made to order. Plenty of pastries, cakes and fruit salad available. Loved this guesthouse where you got the personal attention you wouldn’t get in a bigger chain. The staff actually cared about your stay.
There were lots of stairs to climb up to the top rooms but ‘no pain- no gain’ once you reached your room it was exceptionally clean and comfortable with amazing views over Cork city centre.

We loved the charm of the property, the breakfast is amazing, the rooms are comfortable with updated bathrooms. There is a lovely garden with a view of the river and a sauna to enjoy! This is a perfect lodging for people traveling by car, it has parking. We felt very welcome and we enjoyed stay very much. I would totally recommend with the caveats below.
Room carpet needs upgrading. We got to Cork by train so to get to the property we had to go up at least three stories of stairs with our luggage and then walk up hill, so keep that in mind. Then the hotel is at least 10-15 minutes walk from the city center, going downhill and then uphill to come back if you walk. There are buses that stop very close to the hotel. Also, the hotel does not have an elevator, so if your room is in the second or third floor, this could be a challenge for some people. We didn't mind but I think some people would.

Staff were lovely - interested in making conversation and sharing recommendations. Room was clean, it really was 'cosy' and compact, but it was comfortable. The pillows were fab. Decor was fresh, classic but not dated. Location was great - it is on a steep hill -but only 15 minutes to the very center of Cork. Parking was free- first come first served - but excellent if you get there and can bag a space. Would suggest planning an alternative if you get there and there are no spaces as on street parking is chargeable during the day - even at weekends.
It was ok for me but there was no lift. I had to carry suitcases up multiple flights of stairs. While not a problem for many, I dont think this was clear on the website/ description. Not sure if accessible rooms are available.

We had a proper Irish welcome, all the staff were friendly and helpful. The garden area hidden at the back of the property was lovely, it was a shame we weren't there longer to take advantage of the snug/sun room in the garden and the sauna too! Good views to the river.
You need to be fit if you are travelling with large suitcases as there are many steps to negotiate to get into the property, then to get to the various floors (we were at he top). You don't need a gym! We had been made aware of access but check the floor you'll be on. It did give us an appetite for the exceptional breakfasts though.

Very friendly & helpful team (had originally planned to travel solo so I chose it partly for feeling comfortable & secure). Conveniently located for all our needs and connections in or around Cork. Good selection for breakfast and it even had a sizeable garden, patio and garden room. Our room had a roof window with a view down the river. With an early morning travel departure they made us a carryout breakfast to take with us. Would happily recommend.
The ensuite was quite small but OK for us, understandable as retrofitted into an older property.
