The staff and hotel itself was incredible. It was luxurious and beautifully designed. We were treated so well during our stay. Ken, the doorman greeted us every time we entered and left the hotel recommending different places to go and see or eat. He was so friendly and warm. Phillipe was so friendly and conversational also. We really felt at home and so welcome here. An amazing mini moon from start to finish. The staff couldn’t have done more for us. My favourite hotel I have stayed in Ireland to date. We walked into town and then got a taxi back most evenings, very accessible.

The food was expensive in the restaurant and it would have been nice to have some other menu options like burgers, pasta etc

The staff at the Montenotte were helpful from checkin, to helping us find things, to generally just giving us a good lay of the land. For instance, they explained the various hotel amenities in a way that seemed like they weren't just regurgitating a set of facts for each guest. The room was quiet, decorated well, the temperature was maintained well, etc. The grounds were really nice, and while we didn't try the restaurant or spa, we had a really nice drink at the Glass House. It was really nearly the perfect base for our trip.

In order to have the garden grounds and whatnot they do, they are a bit out of town. We didn't have a car, and so ended up Ubering to and from the town most of the time. (Alternatively, its a nice healthy walk).

The exterior and interior design was very well done. The room size was decent and the bed was very comfy. We got lucky with the weather and enjoyed two wonderful evenings on the terrace either for cocktails or dinner? It was great to see that a lot of locals use the summer nights to come there for cocktails as well. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious. They have a movie theater with big comfy chairs and one night we (partly) watched Interstellar. We haven’t been to the movie in a few years so it was a fun activity.

The food on the terrace could have been better though. The Caesar Salad was dripping on dressing but it did not taste like a Caesar dressing the sardines and an acidic taste were missing. Because of the beautiful weather the waitress on the terrace was totally overwhelmed. There is a beautiful terraced Fountain garden. I wish they had lounge chairs there to relax in the afternoon. Our room had the shower in the bathtub. We don’t like that, way too dangerous.

We made full use of everything – the cinema, jacuzzi, pool, sauna and steam room – and loved every bit of it!! Our stay was for our anniversary, and the hotel made it extra special by leaving a handwritten note saying congratulations along with a lovely tart dessert. The room was fabulous, spotlessly clean, and the gardens were absolutely spectacular. Having a drink in the “Glass House” at night was such a memorable experience. This is a truly beautiful hotel, clearly very well cared for, and the staff really make you feel looked after. It definitely deserves a 5-star rating – we were genuinely shocked to learn it’s only rated as 4!

A couple of small things: we felt the staff (door staff) were a bit “overly nice” in a way that came across as a little forced, like they were trained to take too much interest in our personal business. The receptionist also gave us the wrong timings for the cinema and breakfast, though thankfully the card in the room had the correct info which was really handy. Dinner was very expensive, which is the main reason we didn’t dine in. These issues were very minor and didn't effect our stay.

- Staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, always looking for ways to help and would greet us every time we walked passed. - Great facilities, with plenty of comfy space to relax. - The restaurant was excellent, with a great standard and superb quality. - They have an additional cosy bar which was great to relax at in the evenings and also had some live music - Wonderful views across Cork, both from the bar and restaurant and also from the rooms. - Health club - great gym, large pool which was a good temperature suitable temperature for swimming. Hot tub was also kept at a great temperature. Sauna and steam room also available. The health club as a whole is clean and really well maintained. - Lovely rooms, spacious with good storage space for a long weekend, comfy beds, great water pressure - and kept very clean by the housekeeping team. Our room was also restocked daily with teas, biscuits, etc - The bottles of water supplied in the room are environmentally friendly bottles which is a nice touch. - Additionally to this the shampoo, conditioner and body lotion are all in reusable bottles. - Good breakfast with plenty of self service and menu options, with made to order coffees. - Location - the hotel is along a hill looking over Cork, away from the business city centre. It took us no more than about 20 - 30 min to walk from the hotel into Cork city centre. - We did not drive, but plenty of parking is also available.

- The only real negative, is that the area around the pool is incredibly slippery. Across our stay we witnessed a number of guests nearly slip when walking along the pool side, some actually slipped over entirely. A simple grip mat placed along the side of the pool would reduce a lot of safety risk here.

Staying at the Montenotte is such a treat. The hotel decor is stunning, with amazing attention to detail throughout..Coffee or drinks on the terrace is a must..There is a lovely relaxed vibe with comfy seating areas overlooking the city..The rooms are beautifully decorated and we had great sleeps..Breakfast should definitely be sampled as there's a great variety of food .Special mention to Jess at reception who.is fabulous in her role and to Padraic in the cocktail.bar who is lovely to deal with..

Had to ask for an iron on our first night.All rooms should have one..

Excellent location, stunning views, lots to do within the hotel, no need to even leave it ! The cinema really impressive, great drinks menu, room was so comfortable, has everything you need, even the bathroom design was fabulous. Rituals in a hotel bathroom are always a nice surprise. Grounds are stunning to walk around it should be a 5 star 🌟 special mention to Trevor, Ken and micheal standouts

Only thing I could say is breakfast was a little cold but that could be because we arrived at 9 and breakfast us over at 10. It felt a little soggy. The hot food only. Everything else was exquisite great range of brekkie

This place is nothing short of breathtaking. the views it offers across the property gardens and the river below are fantastic. Its location makes it walkable to the action (now it would be quite the uphill walk back but good for you...lol). Really really enjoyed this place though and it would be at the top of my recommendations for anyone visiting the Cork area. Also one of the best Breakfast buffets I have ever enjoyed included "free" in my stay. The Workout and Pool facilities were also Top notch!

Ultimately, the rooms significantly enhanced the overall hotel experience.

Toilet roll holder but that's nothing in such a great hotel.
